Earlier today we saw photos of the cast of Gossip Girl that will be featured in the upcoming new issue of Rolling Stone magazine and right now we get to see a few photos from the NYC set of the show that were shot yesterday afternoon. A few members of the GG cast were photographed wearing graduation caps and gowns possibly for the season finale ep. Since the show takes place in high school and we already know that many of the characters have been accepted to their colleges of choice (well, except for Blair Waldorf), I don’t think these photos are particularly spoilerish:

Every teen drama that is set in high school has to go thru the graduation episode so, again, these photos should come as no surprise to anyone nor should they spoil the drama to come. It remains to be see exactly what kind of drama might unfold come graduation day. Blair is a wild card this season … could she end up ruining the day for everyone? We know that bad girl Georgina Sparks will be returning to the Upper East Side in the coming eps, does she have some surprises up her sleeve for the big day? Monday night’s ep of GG was really very fun, it’s great to have the show back on the air. I can’t wait to see more. What do YOU suppose might go down on graduation day that might possibly make the day a memorable one for the Gossip Girl gang?

Love is in the air between actress Christina Ricci and her comedian boyfriend, of just about a year, Owen Benjamin and to celebrate the couple have decided to make it official. People magazine is reporting that Christina and Owen are newly engaged to be wed! Here is a photo of the happy pair showing off Ricci‘s sparkly new engagement bling in SoCal on Monday afternoon:

Christina Ricci and her comedian boyfriend Owen Benjamin will tie the knot, the actress’s rep tells PEOPLE. Ricci, 29, met Benjamin on the set of their film All’s Faire in Love last year and went public with their relationship in October. Most recently, they were spotted cozying up at the Nobu West Hollywood’s one-year anniversary party last week. Ricci, who previously dated actor Adam Goldberg, told UK’s Tatler as far back as May 2007 that she was ready to “settle down” though was worried about the fuss of a wedding. ” I just want to be married, or just engaged,” she said. “Basically, I just want a ring. And the tax break.”

While I am very happy to know that Christina has found true love with her new man, I’m a little forlorn that she couldn’t make her relationship with Adam “See ya, pals” Goldberg work :( They made such a great couple … I don’t even know who this guy is. Tho, that’s not reason enough for her not to get married (I guess) but still. Despite the mixed emotions, I think we should all send our lurve and congrats to Christina and Owen on their upcoming nuptials. I suppose there is still time for Goldberg to show up at the ceremony to try and win Christina‘s heart back but … I’m almost fairly kinda certain that won’t happen … right?

Gahhhhhh … soooo cute! Here are a few new photos of the firstborn daughter of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, little Miss Harlow Winter, taking a few steps on her own (OK, with a little help from mommy) on a family outing at the Americana outdoor shopping center in Glendale, CA yesterday afternoon:

As you may recall, we initially saw photos of Harlow taking her first steps back in January but at that time she seemed to do more sitting rather than walking. In these photos, it appears that Harlow has gotten the hang of walking on her own two feet. She is such a little darling … and is really growing up really fast. Pretty soon, Harlow will be welcoming a new baby sister or brother and then she won’t be the baby anymore. Well, til then … I think we should enjoy baby Harlow as much as we can. Ain’t she the cutest?

Last September 11, Kanye West got busted by the police at LAX Airport after he allegedly grabbed and smashed a camera belonging to a paparazzo who was trying to film him at the time. The incident did not turn into a full blown scenario and Kanye and his bodyguard, Don Crowley, were released from custody. Today we learn that Kanye West will now be charged with three misdemeanor crimes stemming from that incident — vandalism, battery, and grand theft:

Kanye West has just been charged with three criminal misdemeanors — vandalism, battery, and grand theft — in connection with the camera-smashing incident at LAX. The L.A. City Attorney has charged Don Crowley with the crimes — two counts of vandalism, two counts of battery and two counts of grand theft. TMZ happened to catch the incident on tape. In fact, Kanye broke our camera light as we were shooting. Crowley is charged with breaking both the TMZ camera and the still camera. Kanye is charged with breaking the flash accessory to the still camera. The incident occurred last September 11. Both men are scheduled to be arraigned on April 14. Kanye could get up to 2 1/2 years in jail if convicted on all counts. Crowley could get five years.

LOL! It’s laughable to even bring up the mention of jail time … there is no way in hell that Kanye West is going to see the inside of a jail cell because of this incident. While I would love nothing better than to see a pompous celeb like Kanye really get busted by the court, I sincerely doubt this is the sort of scenario where that is even a remote possibility. Tho, I bet Kanye forgot all about this little incident at LAX from so many month ago … what a great way to be reminded that one’s actions tend to have consequences.

I have arrived in beautiful Austin, TX … and I am excited and tired as hell ;) My red eye flight wasn’t problematic at all but since I only got about 2 hours of sleep, I’m not sure how much longer I can go on without a nap of some kind. I want to finish a few more posts this afternoon but today may be more like a weekend day rather than a weekday. I spent much of this morning getting my rental car and now I’m all set to take on the SxSW fest:

I’m prolly only gonna see 2-3 shows per night which is more than enough … the schedule this year is pretty fantastic. Tori Amos tomorrow night is my MUST see show but the rest of the options look really fun. I’m gonna see Ladyhawke and Young Love tonight. I’m not sure how much energy I’ll have for a full night but I’m gonna do my best to take it all in. I’m hoping tomorrow will be a more normal day workwise …

I had forgotten how much I missed the South … everyone here is so friendly, it’s great to be in Austin, TX again. I’m hoping to meet some of y’all in town tonight … please say hello. If I look a bit bedraggled, please don’t hold it against me :) And away we go …

The young cast of The CW hit series Gossip Girl is featured in the pages of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine. The cover, tho, features only the two main girls, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, which all the devilishly fun high school drama swirls around on the show. It’s been a heart-wrenching month for fans of the CW Network’s sexily subversive drama Gossip Girl while TV’s hottest show took a brief hiatus. But now Blair, Serena, Chuck Bass and Co. are back — and on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone. To get the dirt on what it’s like starring as beautiful young people in New York while being beautiful young people in New York, Jason Gay hung out with the cast on set and after hours, tagging along to their favorite drinking haunts — where the beverage of choice is the potent Golden Monkey — and catching the action as the show filmed on the streets of the Big Apple. “The outdoor sets were pretty fun, because the fans come out,” Gay says. “There were many kids from local private schools, foreign tourists and tons of paparazzi. It’s strange to to see a mob of paparazzi photograph Blake and Serena in character as they film an outdoor scene. It’s as if the reality of the show exists behind two lenses — in real time and TV time. All the actors enjoy the outside stuff because of the fans, too. It’s like playing on stage or something. More energy, more excitement and the sense that anything could happen. And sometimes it does. There is no such thing as a closed set in NYC!” Despite barely scraping together 3 million viewers a week, the show has become the most talked-about, culturally relevant series on television. “It’s not a conventional TV hit in terms of viewership. Its numbers are low and it loses to stuff like The Secret Life of the American Teenager, a far more wholesome show that runs on cable,” Gay says. “But in terms of having a ‘moment,’ however you want to define it, GG definitely is having one. It will be very interesting to see if the show grows, or remains a clubby, small hit. Teen shows seldom have long runs — and I don’t get the feeling this will turn into ER. But it seems to be here to stay as long as the principals involved want to keep doing it.” Part of the show’s appeal is its authenticity. “The show is sharp and connected to modern life, references, music and so on. Gossip Girl doesn’t feel like something that got drummed up in some network focus group by 55-year-old white dudes,” Gay explains. “No one’s going to accuse Gossip Girl of being The Wire or Mad Men, but if you roll with the fantasy/absurdity, it’s fun to watch, from the infighting to the insane clothes and snappy dialogue.” Right now, the stars who bring those tart lines to life — Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley — somehow haven’t let fame go to their heads, according to Gay. “They’ve all reached the point where they’re in the public eye, but they’re not rolling around in blacked-out SUVs or being chased around like Madonna. A lot of them take the subway and they still complain about the price of rents and monthly car parking,” Gay reveals. “They’re in a nice place in their careers. They’re now recognizable enough to get interest for other things, but not so recognizable that daily life is a drag.” Though he’s now a Gossip guru, Gay admits, “I didn’t jump on the bandwagon immediately. But by the end of the first season, I was getting so annoyed with the fuss I had to check it out.” So what’s his favorite Gossip Girl moment? “The scene in the ‘Non-Judging Breakfast Club’ episode where Blair, Chuck and Nate rally behind Serena after she confesses about her wild night with Georgina. Nate and Blair then confess regrettable things they’ve done, and when Blair asks Chuck to contribute, he just says, ‘I’m Chuck Bass,’ ” Gay says. “It’s the kind of thing that if you watched the show for the first time, it would mean nothing to do you, but if you’re a fan, you’re dying. I think that’s one of the shrewder things about Gossip Girl — it does reward its loyal viewers.”

The Madden twins, Joel and Benji, met up with their older brother Josh (who can usually be found around NYC) for a bit of brotherly hanging out in SoCal yesterday and were spotted making their way back to the DCMA Store on Melrose Ave. yesterday after a quick coffee run … here is a great photo of the Madden bros lookin’ like they were up to no good when, in fact, they were prolly just chillin’:

These guys are so great … and it’s always a great sight to see them out and about together. No doubt the twins were happy to have their big bro in town and I’m sure Josh was happy to get caught up on all the family news (like the new addition that Joel and Nicole Richie are expecting to add to the fold). Yeah, there ain’t nothing salacious or juicy going on here … just a group of brothers hanging out like it ain’t no thang.

Thus far there has been little information released (or leaked) from the much anticipated Spike Jonze live adaptation of the classic storybook Where the Wild Things Are (save for a few photos here and there) but today we get to check out the first promo poster for the film which is due to hit theaters this October. Rumor has it that the first trailer will show ahead of showings of the upcoming 3D animated film Monsters vs. Aliens … but, for now, here’s the poster:

Now this is a great poster! The guys over at the Spike Jonze Fan Blog have discovered the first poster for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are movie, which Warner Brothers has currently set for release on October 16th. We still haven’t seen anything besides a few early photos from this, but word is that the trailer will officially show in front of Monsters vs. Aliens in a few weeks, so stay tuned. I’m quite excited, because although there’s been some reported troubles, all of that has only built up my expectations even more.

What a great poster! I really had my doubts that a live-action movie would ever be close to maybe doing justice to the magnificent book but … the tiny peeks we’ve gotten to see of Spike Jonze‘s work, I think he might be able to pull it off. It’s been so long since I’ve read the book myself, I might have to dig out my copy when I next go home to Detroit to refresh my mind. I am really excited to see this story come to life … my gut tells me it’s gonna be goooood. Woot!

Heroes star Zachary Quinto (who will also be playing Spock in the upcoming Star Trek prequel movie this Spring) is featured in the current issue of GQ magazine in a multipage spread that attempts to teach fashionable men “How to buy a Raincoat”. In a few animated photos, Quinto is photographed jumping for joy in this season’s hottest rainwear … behold:

Spock and Awe Zachary Quinto, it appears, was uniquely qualified to play Spock in May’s rejiggered Star Trek. For one thing, the 31-year-old actor has a built-in cult following, thanks to his role as the brain-eater on NBC’s Heroes. But more important: Have you seen those eyebrows? When Quinto heard that J. J. Abrams was rekindling the cherished fanboy franchise, he told his hometown newspaper he wanted the role. “Then that article got syndicated…,” says Quinto. Engage! (To borrow a phrase.) In a few months’ time, the guy was shaving and sculpting his brows to Spock-like spears, and rehearsing scenes with Winona Ryder, who, through the miracle of makeup, plays his mother. (“She’s, like, five years older than me.”) So are there any other roles he’d like to land through the press? “I really want to go on SNL.” Noted. And you’re welcome.

Clearly, raincoats cannot be full appreciated in photos unless they are worn by a person in midair. The photoshoot is a cute one, tho … I wonder how many times exactly ZQ had to jump thruout the course of the day just to get the four best shots for publication. I’ve been a fan of Quinto since his days on the short-lived Tori Spelling series So noTORIous aired on VH1 all those years ago. Back then, Zachary played an oversexed gay guy who wasn’t shy about showing skin OR sucking face with other dudes on the show. HMMM. Those were the good ol’ days. I am really, really looking forward to seeing Quinto play Spock in Star Trek. True, his eyebrows seem to be made for the role but I have a sneaking suspicion that he also possesses the skill to pull off the part expertly. I guess come May, we’ll know for sure. For now, I guess we’ll just have to entertain ourselves with these fun photos of Zachary jumping around in raincoats.
