Brooke Hogan, who apparently is never one to turn down a paying gig these days, was on hand to give a skin-tilating performance at the Latin music concert festival Calle Ocho in Miami, FL yesterday and managed to thrill members of the crowd with her stirring dance routine on the stripper pole. And by “members of the crowd” I’m referring to her father and former wrestling star Hulk Hogan … the rest of the crowd, I understand, was merely just grossed out by what they had seen. Blech! I’m not sure if the photo with her legs spread open and wide is really necessary (or even safe for viewing … by anyone) but in these trying economic times, I guess a girl’s gotta make money any way she can. I don’t know that singing will necessarily pay the bills so … spread open and wide it is. As I mentioned, Daddy Hulk was in the hiz at Calle Ocho this weekend to bear witness to his little girl’s performance … and he brought along his girlfriend (who looks an awful lot like Brooke, I might add) for company. 80,000 Aussies braved the rain and made their way out to the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia to attend the Sound Relief charity concert this past weekend to help raise money to aid the victims of the Victorian bushfire that claimed the lives of 210 people last month. Artists like Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton-John, Bee Gees member Barry Gibb, Kings of Leon and honorary Australians Coldplay performed at Sound Relief to help raise funds for bushfire relief. Here are a few photos of Kylie on stage during her performance and some info about the event itself:

Kylie Minogue returned to her hometown of Melbourne over the weekend for Australia’s largest ever fund-raising concert for victims of the bushfires. The singer was cheered on by an 80,000 strong crowd – which included her sister, X Factor judge Dannii – as she took to the stage at Sound Relief held at the city’s MCG. A heartfelt message and her moving rendition of the nation’s unofficial anthem I Still Call Australia Home, brought many fans to tears as they remembered the 210 people killed by the Victorian fires, the worst in Australia’s history. During her performance, which was broadcast simultaneously at a concert at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Kylie said: ‘I’m so thankful I can make it home tonight and share this with all of you. “There’s a thing we talk about a lot which is the Australian spirit and I believe that it’s in evidence tonight all around the country. And as someone that’s recognised around the world, I travel everywhere and that’s what people see in Australians. I don’t have a band, I don’t have dancers, in fact there ain’t one feather on me tonight. But I thought this could actually be my biggest gig ever if you are all prepared – and all of you in Sydney and all of you around the world – are prepared to sing with me.” Kylie lead some of the biggest names in Australian music, both past and present, as they turned out to raise money for the victims of the fires, including the 10,000 who were left homeless. The concerts raised an estimated £2.3million (A$5 million) to help rebuild residences destroyed in the blaze. Bee Gee Barry Gibb and Grease star Olivia Newton-John performed a duet while Midnight Oil reformed for the night. Princes William and Harry relayed a message of support on giant screens while American band Kings of Leon and British group Coldplay, currently on tour in the country, also turned out for the show. Lead singer Chris Martin said: “Today’s the only day in the world when we can claim to be honorary Australians.”

What a great event … and what a fun way to get so many people to help the others in need who are, undoubtedly, still reeling from the devastation caused by the bushfire last month. Now that Madonna’s 22 year old toyboy Jesus Luz has left her hallowed presence by returning home to his native Brazil, it would seem that Maddy is itching to replace him with another youngster … according to reports and an email she wrote herself, Madge has expressed interest in adopting another child from Malawi on the condition that the Malawian government approves her for another child. I’m not sure what Madonna’s other adopted child from Malawi, David Banda Mwale Ciccone-Ritchie, thinks about this but it seems clear that she’s interested in gettin’ herself another baby:

Pop star Madonna has said she may adopt another child from the poor southern African country of Malawi despite the controversy surrounding an earlier adoption. Critics accused the government of skirting laws that ban non-residents from adopting children in Malawi, which has been badly hit by the AIDS epidemic, after Madonna took on David Banda. “Many people — especially our Malawian friends — say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister,” she said in response to emailed questions from Malawi’s the Nation newspaper. “It’s something I have been considering, but would only do, if I had the support of the Malawian people and the Government.” A Malawian court approved the adoption of David last year. Madonna has said the controversy had been difficult to deal with but she was happy to be involved in a case that might pave the way for more adoptions in Malawi. An estimated one million children in the country have been orphaned by AIDS. Madonna, who began adoption proceedings in 2006, took David when he was 13-months-old after his father had placed him in an orphanage following the death of his wife. David is growing up in the high-flying life of a leading pop star, worlds away from his village of Lipunga, where Banda’s relatives eat staple food like maize meal from simple bowls and meals are cooked on open fires. Madonna said she wanted to keep him connected to his homeland. “It is a big priority for me to educate my son about the world, but always to stay connected to his Malawian culture,” she said. “He has a big map of Africa in his room with lots of arrows pointing to Malawi.” Madonna said her divorce from film director Guy Ritchie would not deprive their children of either parent. “I believe in family. So, everything between us is very amicable … we both agree that our children should always feel a deep connection with both their parents. It is our responsibility to give them that foundation,” she said.

Madonna is deffo in the right situation to be able to afford and handle the adoption of another child but, IMHO, should only really do so if she truly wants to open her home to another child out of love rather than a feeling of obligation or charity. I can see how adopting another Malawian child might benefit little David Banda and I do support her decision to do so … I just hope it’s for the right reasons. To be honest, I never thought that she would really adopt another child (there were rumors that she was interested in adopting a Malawian girl shortly after she adopted David … which never held credence for me) so this news is a bit surprising … especially in light of her recent divorce. Whatever she decides to do, I really hope she puts the needs of the child first. Make room David Banda, it looks like you’ll be sharing your shiny new toys with a new sibling very soon.

Since we saw photos of Kellan with his Twilight cohorts on the Vancouver, Canada set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon earlier this week, we now know that there’s always room to play even when there is work to be done. Kellan, Eli and AnnaLynne convened in LV to celebrate together while taking a brief respite from vampire movie making. Vampires can’t be all about work, now, can they? When Jiley were last spotted out and about it was on the occasion of Miley’s book signing for her, ahem, autobiography at the Barnes & Noble book store at The Grove a week ago. As you may recall, poor Justin was relegated to the back of the room at that event because all eyes here on Miley for her signing. This time around, tho, I understand that Justin managed to get more of the attention while the couple were flaunting themselves in Burbank. Justin managed to attract hordes of ardent fangirls while Miley had to stand by and watch with only her pet dog to keep her company. Ah well … she uses him, he uses her … they just make the perfect Hollywood powercouple. Don’t cha just love it?

Altho the season finale of MTV’s The City doesn’t air until later on tonight, In Touch Weekly magazine is providing a bit of a spoiler for the show that might not even air on tonight’s episode. Because reality and “reality TV” have a funny way of intersecting, this news might prove spoilerish for upcoming eps of the show but because life waits for no TV show, I suppose it’s worth reporting now … Whitney Port and her NYC paramour Jay Lyon are dunzo!

“The City’s” Whitney Port and her reality show boyfriend, Jay Lyon, have called it quits, a friend of Whitney’s reveals to In Touch. “They broke up on Monday,” said the friend. “Whitney did it over the phone, she was basically just not happy for a while and decided she really wanted to end it. Jay said they should talk things over, but it seems her mind is made up.” The couple agreed to take a break while Jay toured with his band Tamarama, as shown in this week’s episode, but later reconciled. “The episode that aired on Monday was filmed over a month ago. They got back together after that, but now Whitney has dumped him for good,” says the friend. The couple met and began dating last summer when Whitney began filming MTV’s “The City” and moved to Manhattan. They had been dating ever since. “There was no cheating or anything like that, she’s just finally fed up,” the friend says. “She asked her close friends for advice and thinks it’s best her and Jay both go their separate ways. He’s not going to change and she’s just sick of it.”

To be honest, I have a very hard time believing any showmance that is heavily featured on reality TV is actually real (consider Lauren LC Conrad was “dating” Doug Reinhardt on The Hills but was really dating actor Kyle Howard off screen) so this news of Whitney and Jay’s dunzoness doesn’t really smack of any sort of, well, reality. We know that The City was picked up for a second season and perhaps producers thought it would behoove the series to have Whitney a single lady in the city so that they can exploit Sex and the City-like scenarios in upcoming new eps of the show. To be honest, I was never a Jay fan and I’m glad to see him go. Real or not, I’m looking forward to seeing Whitney unattached and let loose on the town. Methinks her singlehood will make for much more entertaining TV to come.
