It appears that minor Hills castmember Doug Reinhardt learned a thing or two from his tenure on the show from the masters of love and villainy Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt when it comes to putting on a show for the paparazzi. Doug accompanied Paris Hilton on her trip to Hawaii this week and made sure to offer up a few kissy poses expressly for the paparazzi … behold:

Ugh. While Paris and Doug (sidebar: we should prolly come up with a name for them, yes?) aren’t nearly as obvious in their showmanship as is Speidi, I figure it’s only a matter of time before they slip into the same depths of desperation for attention as their relationship unfolds. For now, they are Hawaii’s problem … for which I extend my apologies. As long as they lei each other, the innocent Hawaiians should have no reason to fear.

24‘s Kiefer Sutherland and Jake Gyllenhaal‘s reported ladyfriend Reese Witherspoon were on hand at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin, Germany for a photocall event to promote their work in the upcoming new 3D animated film Monsters vs. Aliens. Here are a few photos of Kiefer and Reese from the event:

In the new film, Kiefer provides the voice for General W.R. Monger while Reese provides the voice for Susan Murphy/Ginormica. Other voice work in the film is provided by folks like Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett and more! I first saw the 3D trailer in the theater when I saw Coraline in 3D … it looks really cute. I suspect we may see more of these other actors at future press events for this film but for now, Reese and Kiefer will have to do. I never really thought about it but they make a nice couple when you see them standing side by side. I think I’d much prefer to see Reese with Kiefer rather than Jake Gyllenhaal … just imagine, if they started dating we could call them Riefer … but in order to avoid a tangent on that subject, I’ll just move on. Monsters vs. Aliens opens in theaters on March 27. Holla!

Earlier today we got our first look at Spice Girl Mel C‘s newborn babygirl Scarlet Starr and right now we get to see Spice Girl Me B‘s latest baby … an upcoming Las Vegas project where she’ll be featured in the new burlesque show Peep Show which will open at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino later this year. Here are a few promo images of Mel B. in her finest Ultimo skivvies which give that hint of burlesque that she appears to be going for these days:

Clad in her underwear, smouldering against the velvet curtains, Mel B has replaced her alter ego Scary Spice with a new one – Peep Diva. The former Spice Girl is set to make her debut on the Las Vegas stage later this month as Peep Diva in the burlesque Peep Show. Although there will be topless dancers in the show, Mel B will be keeping her curves under wraps, describing her costume as “scantily clad, but in a classy way”. Mel B’s character is described as “a bold and powerful woman with all the answers” who guides the timid character of Bo on a swift journey of “awakening and self-discovery”. And the mother-of-two has shown off some of her burlesque moves in a photoshoot for underwear range Ultimo. She said: “Burlesque is all about embracing and celebrating your body. A girl’s gotta have great lingerie, but it’s also all about the wink and the tease that goes with it! Modeling lingerie is really empowering and it was fantastic to get in character for the shoot and strut my stuff.” Mel B’s previous shoots for Ultimo have raised suggestions that the shots have been airbrushed. But the latest photos appeared entirely natural, with her curves and tattoos on display. She wears a series of underwear sets, teamed with vintage accessories. Michelle Mone, creator of Ultimo, said: “We wanted to recreate the classic bombshell look of burlesque legends like Betty Page and Gypsy Rose Lee, full of curves and glamour. Mel B did an astounding job and really got into the spirit of the shoot. The UK has a real heritage of burlesque, so we wanted to celebrate this and encourage women to find their own alter-ego.”

Methinks that current reigning Burlesque Queen Dita Von Teese has got nothing to worry about from Ms. B. That said, I think it’s great that the Scary One is getting her own Vegas show. I always believed that Mel B. got ROBBED on her season of Dancing with the Stars. She deffo should’ve won and prolly would have won if she hadn’t had a commitment to the Spice Girls Reunion Tour. My guts told me that because Mel B. had to tour with the Spices, she was not crowned the DWTS crown because, if she had, she would not have been able to do the DWTS Tour. But that is all water under the bridge … at last, Mel B. will get her time in the spotlight. While it’s not particularly my sort of thing, I wish her much success. It’s not too far a stretch, I think, to go from Spice Girl to Peep Diva. I mean, who’d notice the difference?

My guess is that the poor guy was dreaming of acing his next exam, yeah! While this photo is so full of LOL you have to admit that we’ve all nodded off during lectures at one point or other in our scholastic pasts. Shoot, my first 2-hour class my Freshman year of college was a Developmental Psychology class that I slept in all the time. As a result, I changed my major from psychology to political science … and then became a professional blogger. See … things happen for a reason. If Franco keeps sleeping his way thru his classes, mebbe he can go back to acting?

Pink reader Ian gives me the head’s up that the album cover artwork for Tori Amos‘s new disc Abnormally Attracted to Sin has been released along with a new interview and full album tracklisting, courtesy of Spinner.com. Holy shizz, y’all … I’m so excited I can barely type right how. Here is our first look at the beautiful album artwork:

Tori Amos is in a good mood when she phones Spinner from her Cornwall, England studio. She owes her glee, in part, to a white chocolate chip cookie, which she informs us her 8-year-old daughter, Natashya, baked for her. “Husband didn’t marry me for my baking,” she laughs. It’s just weeks away from Amos’ scheduled performance at SXSW, where she’ll unveil new tunes from her tenth studio album, ‘Abnormally Attracted to Sin,’ due May 19. In addition to debuting the album cover and tracklist with Spinner, Amos discussed her new work, how to divvy up the Democrats and Republicans, and what she considers to be the greatest sin of all.

What was the impetus behind this new collection?

I’m drawn to questioning what traditional authorities have defined sin to be. As a minister’s daughter, I’ve been exposed to the traditional belief system. [Sin] has been used to shame and control people. If you’re controlled by a religious structure, then you’re going to have a very different outlook on life and what you’re open to than if you’re not controlled by these old, crumbling concepts.

The new album, ‘Abnormally Attracted to Sin,’ takes its name from a line in ‘Guys and Dolls,’ said by the character Sarah Brown. Do you feel a kinship with her in any way?

No, because I’m not torn by my religious beliefs. A lot of the problems we have right now in our world are because of intolerance dictated by the big religions.

Do you feel it’s your duty or obligation to expose these truths in your work?

I find that right now, in this turbulent time where there’s so much strife all around the world, there is an opportunity for religions to open their doors and their hearts — to become compassionate for someone else’s beliefs instead of intolerant. That’s always really disappointed me about people who talk about being religious, and yet they’re the most judgmental, usually. Right now, we’re at war, and I wrote quite a lot of this album while I was on tour last time. I traveled the world, I played in Israel, I traveled through countries where the major religions exist — and the one thing that I started to do more than ever was to really ask questions about “What do I believe in?” Traveling and seeing how women see themselves in different cultures … how the community thinks of them becomes so important for some of them, more than how than how they even feel about themselves. And some of them are dying — they’re dying in their lives. You might be approved of in your community, but your heart is completely breaking. And I don’t find that a tolerant society — that is not the compassionate Christ path to me. I began to see that kindness and tolerance were not found in institutions, but found in individuals who seemed to be breaking away from the old patriarchal viewpoint.

Did you have a similar experience growing up in a Christian household?

I was brought up in a home that was … we were brought up in the Christian doctrine, and that’s just what it was. We believed in it, and I think the question is: What is that doctrine? Because it’s not about the open heart. Maybe it takes times like we have right now, times of so much upheaval, where you allow yourself to really find out what it is that you feel about something. My daughter has all kinds of questions all the time, and if she were brought up in a less tolerant household, she would be broken, no question about it. But she has a grandfather who was a Methodist minister and she has a part of her family who are very much practicing Christians, yet she loves them. But she is not interested if they agree with what she thinks because she is allowed to believe in what she wants.

One of the current arguments at large in America is whether or not gays should have the right to marry. Religion is often used in the argument against gay marriage. Why do you think that union is so threatening?

We go back to that word — intolerance. That, to me, isn’t what America ever was. It wasn’t about telling another person how to live their life. I always said in a perfect world, you keep the Democrats out of your bank account and the Republicans out of your bedroom. But in life, why do you have to have anybody else in your bedroom if you’re a consenting adult? That is the need people have right now, it seems, to dictate to another person how they should live their life. I find that the greatest sin of all. The record explores all kinds of feelings and depending on your state of mind, your set of circumstances could result in a very different outcome.

What can you tell me about the visuals that will be accompanying each of the songs on this album?

I’m calling them “vignettes” because it’s more akin to a mini-film. This all started on tour last time, when we were filming the live shows. The director was putting together montages, and as I saw the montages, new music was already coming. I started to put the new music to the mini-films that were being made out on the road. When I travel I get all kinds of ideas. I’m forced to see things that I wouldn’t and question. When you asked me about ‘Guys and Dolls,’ I guess I was never a Bible-thumping Christian; I was always trying to question because I had so much religion in my upbringing. I was drawn to those people and those ideas that weren’t accepted necessarily, and it’s not because these ideas in reality are “evil” — that’s just the perception that’s being given. The reality I was brought up in was, “Anything that doesn’t work within the Christian doctrine is sinful.” And that’s a lot of stuff.

Oh my Goddess, it is SO amazing to have Tori Amos back. I love, love, love the coverphoto … she looks like the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor from her Cleopatra days. STUNNING! This short interview is a great tease for what’s to come with this new album. I am so freaking out right now … what a great explosion of new Tori information. So … we finally did it … David and I finally found our bed. Having seen the commercials on TV for the past few months and having found nothing in our genearal area, we hopped in my VW and made our way 20 miles outside of town to La Mirada, CA to pay a visit to Living Spaces. Living Spaces is one of those furniture stores that sits on about 10 acres of land and has pretty much every piece of furniture you’d ever want … and at low, low prices. We’ve always said we wanted a big bed that we have to climb into and that’s exactly what we got. A massive California King bed that we have to jump up to get into … we’re so happy. And get this, the place delivers the same day … tho, we set our delivery for tomorrow (Wednesday) so that we can clear out our master bedroom and make room for the big bed. Listen folks, I ain’t gonna front … those big furniture stores outside of the major cities are the place to go when you really want to get your furniture shopping finished in one fell swoop. We also purchased our heavenly mattress and box spring set along with our new kitchen table and chairs … and it’s all being delivered and assembled FOR FREE. I’m just so happy to be done with the whole matter … and can’t wait for the bed to arrive so we can start sleeping in our bedroom rather than the guest bedroom.

One more thing, tho … and this is for some of you older readers who are around my age. Do you remember having a toy called the Fisher-Price MovieViewer which was a little device you held up to your eye, hand-cranked and watched short movies? It looked like this:

I randomly stumbled upon this photo last night (which was taken at a film festival here in SoCal in January) and all these memories of my very young childhood came flooding back. My mom got me this toy when I was about 5 and it was one of my faves … and I swear I hadn’t thought about it in over 20-some years.

I figure there have to be other Pink readers out there who had the same toy and may have forgotten about it, too. I managed to find one on eBay in decent shape and quickly bought it. I dunno why … it was the toy my mom loved best and since she picked it out for me, I think I want to have it again so I can take it home to show her the next time I go back to Detroit. I distinctly remember the cartridge it came with, Disney‘s Lonesome Ghosts. I made sure the MovieViewer I procured on eBay came with the same movie. I was so awash in nostalgia last night that I just had to share today. That’s all.

Very happy about my new bed and my old toy … some things never change, I guess.

Last year, Madonna and then “happily” married husband Guy Ritchie dressed up and celebrated the Jewish Festival of Purim together … as you may recall, Maddy dressed up as French chanteuse Edith Piaf and Guy dressed as European comic book character Asterix. This year, Purim came a bit earlier and Madonna chose NOT to spend it in the company of her soon-to-be ex-husband but with her new 22 year old toyboy Jesus Luz. Madge dressed this year as her eldest daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon while Jesus dressed as The Joker:

When Madonna decided to dress up as a schoolgirl for a fancy dress party in New York, she didn’t have to look far for inspiration. The 50-year-old simply let herself loose in her teenage daughter Lourdes’ wardrobe. She borrowed a waistcoat and tie, striped hosiery, a smiley face ring and pair of Converse sneakers from the 13-year-old, who has been seen wearing the items on separate occasions in recent times. The singer completed the look with a black wig, racy fishnet tights and a short skirt to mark the Jewish celebration of Purim at the Kabbalah Centre. Her boyfriend Jesus Luz, 22, joined in the festivities wearing a Joker costume, complete with full face make-up and a striking purple pinstripe suit and green waistcoat. He was seen emerging from the venue with Jessica Seinfeld, wife of comedian Jerry Seinfeld. The 37-year-old was dressed as a Persian princess and entered the Kabbalah centre hand-in-hand with Luz as the pair apparently pretended to be a couple. Madonna was celebrating Purim, which commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from nobleman Haman’s plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther.

See, I would rather see Madonna‘s costume choice NOT as the first signs of a burgeoning mid-life crisis but rather as a cheeky nod to her daughter’s bold fashion sense. I think it’s a really cute idea. And BOY what a difference a year makes … around this time 12 months ago we were fairly sure that things were still on the up and up in Maddy and Guy‘s marriage. While I may still have no idea exactly what the Jewish Festival of Purim is all about (and trust me, my Jewish boyfriend is NO help at all) I have to admit that it looks like a good time. In my limited experience with Jewish celebration, I’ve come to discover that Jewish religious celebrations tend to be less formal and more jovial … very unlike the staunch Christian “celebrations” that I endured in my youth. The Jews know how to have fun, which is why they are ace in my book. Happy Purim, y’all!!

Late last month we learned that Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm a.k.a. Sporty Spice (and the last of the Spices to spawn) finally gave birth to her firstborn child … a girl she named Scarlet Starr. Today, we get our first look at the little darling as mother and child are featured on the cover of the new issue of Hello! magazine:

The most private of the Spice Girls, Melanie Chisolm has avoided the spotlight since the February 22 birth of Scarlet Starr – her first child with property developer partner Thomas Starr. Instead the 35-year-old mum has decided to introduce her “beautiful little girl” to the world exclusively in HELLO! magazine. This week’s issue, number 1063, contains two gorgeous portraits of mother and baby, who has a shock of brown hair just like her famous mum. There’s also the inside story on how Mel is coping, as told by her fellow Spice Girl mums, as well as their messages of love and support. “I’m extremely happy for Melanie and Thomas,” says Victoria Beckham. “They will be wonderful parents and I’m hoping to meet baby Scarlet when I’m in London in the next few weeks.”

While I initially kinda thought that Sporty decided to jump on the baby bandwagon just so she could fit in with her Spice Girl cohorts, I guess I can kinda believe that she had her baby cuz, you know, she wanted to have a baby ;) I keed, I keed.
