First Look: Jake Gyllenhaal In ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time’

Holy Shizz, y’all! How’s this to brighten up your Saturday afternoon … two new promo images from the big screen adaptation of the video game title Prince of Persia have made their way to the Internets. As some of you may know, Jake Gyllenhaal will play Prince Dastan in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time … here is our first look at one of two new promo images from the film:

I mean … hot dayum … Jakey poo is lookin’ fine as hell, don’t you think? I don’t care if the movie is 2 hours of Jake standing around with his shirt off, in fact, I sincerely hope it’s 2 hours of Jake standing around with his shirt off … the filmmakers can absolutely count on my $12 when this movie opens in theaters. I am so sold. After the jump, check out one more promo photo of Jake in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time — yes, he still is not wearing a shirt …

Meet Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Garner-Affleck

Jennifer Garner, who gave birth to her second child in January, joined her husband Ben Affleck as they picked up their eldest daughter Violet Anne from pre-school and ventured out for a shopping excursion … and they brought along newborn daughter Seraphina Rose Elizabeth for the ride. Here are a couple pics of Bennifer 2.0 with their kids at Violet‘s preschool:

After the jump, check out photos from X17 that give us our first look at little Seraphina Rose

Plus my night with Lynda Carter
I Watches The ‘Watchmen’

Yesterday was a pretty packed day full of awesomeness. David and I spent part of the afternoon at the movies for an impromptu date and then last night I met up with my dear friend Gillian for a night of entertainment with Lynda Carter — the day was pretty spectacular. First things first … yesterday, David and made our way to the ArcLight to see Watchmen mid-day so as to avoid the crush of movie goers. Forget all the bitchy negative reviews you may read about this film, I’m here to tell you that it is a great film, deffo worth watching:

Having just read Watchmen for the first time this week, the story from the graphic novel was fresh in my mind as I saw the film adaptation yesterday. I contend that the film version is a very faithful retelling of the graphic novel that will surely entertain folks who have read the comics or not. The opening sequence was really very cool … it explained some of the history of the superheros in the film and set up the storyline nicely. In the comics, there is a lot of graphic violence that is not seen in very many comic book titles … but even so, I was never bothered by the images I saw. On the big screen, the violence is brought to life and really drives the point home. In this way, I think the movie version is superior to the comics. As I suspected, there is a lot of penis in this film. I’d say that 90% of the scenes with Dr. Manhattan in them has full frontal CGI p33n swingin’ in the breeze. I must say, it’s refreshing that the male anatomy can be so casually used in a movie like this … it adds to the realism and amplifies the feeling you’re supposed to get from the graphic novel. Of the actors in the film, I felt that Malin Ackerman (who plays Silk Spectre II) came off as a poor man’s Cameron Diaz (you may remember her as the bitchy younger sister in 27 Dresses) and was the weakest of the cast … but overall, I quite liked the performances from all of the actors. The movie is not Academy Award level but it’s really entertaining. As for the changed ending, I have to say that I much prefer the ending in the film to the ending in the book. If you are a purest for the graphic novel, you may be disappointed but I was not at all. I much preferred the way the movie ended … it was more believable and saved the film from getting too cheesy. I don’t have many complaints … the movie is a really good representation of the comics. I’d be curious to hear what real moviegoers who don’t like the film as compared to the graphic novel think. Mebbe I missed something. But, as I said, I really enjoyed the film … I deffo think y’all will too.

After the movie, I had to race home to change and meet up with Gillian for our date with Lynda Carter. After the jump, check out some photos from our fun last night and watch a video of Ms. Carter performing Crazy by Patsy Cline

Guess the reconciliation didn't take
Sarah Silverman & Jimmy Kimmel Are Dunzo … Again!

Last July we learned that comics Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel decided to end their 5 year relationship only to reconcile and start up their romance later last year in October. Since then, it was presumed that the couple were happily reattached but, alas, it turns out that they were not … as a result, the couple have reportedly decided to break-up again … they are dunzo, y’all!

A second chance at love didn’t work. Despite a reconciliation that gave them both cause for laughs, late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel, 41, and comedian Sarah Silverman, 38, have split, a source confirms to PEOPLE. No reason was revealed for their second breakup. The funny duo dated for five years before they called it quits last July. But they rekindled their relationship just a few months later. “They’re taking it slow,” a source told PEOPLE last fall. “They’re on the road back to being together.” The pair even managed to poke fun of their first split on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last October when she was a guest and they exchanged awkward silences and quips like, “Did you make sweet love to anyone while we were apart?”

This is so sad. Didn’t it really seem as if Sarah and Jimmy were made for one another? I was really bummed when the couple broke up last year and was relieved that they decided to give their relationship another go … but if they really have broken up again, there’s prolly a very good reason. Sad news … but I’m not really holding out for a third try. Something tells me that this dunzo is the last one for the pair.

More Photos Of Britney Spears & Sons At Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Yesterday we saw a couple of photos of Britney Spears with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James making a quick pit stop at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Flordia (in between her concert stops in New Orleans, LA and Atlanta, GA) and today we get to see a couple more photos from her time at Disney. BritneySpears.com has been updated with two new photos of Brit and her boys at Disney this week:

While the photos are very similar to the first photo we saw yesterday, I can’t resist sharing the adorableness of Britney‘s sons. They look so happy … and not just ‘cuz they are at Disney World but because they are with their mommy at Disney World. Britney‘s decision to bring her children on tour with her — no matter the financial cost to their father Kevin Federline — was a wise one. It’s really great seeing Britney look so happy all the time. Great pics!!

Zanessa bring the animated couple to life
Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgens Portray Phillip & Aurora From Disney’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’

Back in January 2007, the Walt Disney company released the first photos from their Year of a Million Wishes campaign which featured celebrities portraying classic characters from Disney animated films in new photos shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. As you may recall, David Beckham was photographed as Prince Phillip from Disney‘s Sleeping Beauty, Scarlett Johansson was photographed as Cinderella and Beyoncé was photographed as Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Then in January of 2008, Disney released a whole batch of new photos from the campaign which featured celebs like Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony (who portrayed Princess Jasmine & Aladdin), Whoopi Goldberg (as Aladdin‘s Genie), Jessica Biel (as Pocahontas) and more. Later that same year, a new photo that featured Julianne Moore as Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Michael Phelps as a merman was released. Today, we get to see the latest photo from this Disney campaign … behold, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens as Prince Phillip (the very same character Becks portrayed in the first batch of photos) and Princess Aurora/Briar-Rose from Disney‘s Sleeping Beauty:

While the pose is pretty cheesy (most likely because it’s got Zac Efron in it), the photo is beautiful. Leibovitz is such an amazing photographer, her photos are very, very cool. I suppose I get why Disney would select Zanessa to portray these characters but I’m actually surprised they’ve decided to milk the Sleeping Beauty movie for another photo when there are so many other films that have yet to be featured. Snow White?* Mulan? Mowgli from Jungle Book? I am happy to know that the campaign is still ongoing, especially since Disney‘s Year of a Million Dreams is long over. I wonder if we’ll be seeing more photos soon from the campaign? I guess we shall see.

*Pink reader Starkie reminds me that Rachel Weisz did portray Snow White in a photo of her own. Thanks!

Überfandom or criminal movie marketing?
Who Graffitis ‘The Watchmen’?

Fans of the epic graphic novel Watchmen who happen in live in NYC might be encountering either some extreme fandom or really illegal movie marketing on the streets of their fair city. As fans of the comics know, the phrase Who Watches the Watchmen? is spray painted on public walls thru out NYC in the story … and this week, real graffiti of that phrase has started showing up on real buildings in NYC … which either means there are some really rabid fans out there who want to promote the movie OR viral movie marketing for the film has taken on an illegal slant. Here are a few examples of some of the graffiti that has been spotted this week:

The familiar “Who Watches The Watchmen?” graffiti from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons‘ celebrated graphic novel — and Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Watchmen” movie — has been popping up all over lower Manhattan lately. But is it a viral marketing campaign, or fans excited about the film’s looming arrival in theaters? Sure, graffiti is nothing new in New York City, but the fact that this kind of graffiti is showing up around the city has become a common topic of conversation among New York City comics fans — and everywhere else the familiar tag is popping up. From personal blogs to Twitter feeds and Flickr photo sets, “Watchmen” graffiti has found its way online, with photos [being] snapped in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and … in the SoHo area. If viral marketing was indeed involved, the company would have to go great lengths to get permission from the city to tag a telephone booth near Union Square, while the tag found in Chelsea was on the side of a restaurant. I’d assume it would be difficult to get the restaurant owner to agree to that one. Better yet, is the graffiti a product of something more like the controversial “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” viral marketing campaign that hit Boston back in 2007? One kind of hopes, though, that it’s the work of one — or more — comics fans who just like “Watchmen” that much. While we probably won’t get any answers about the graffiti’s origins, any chance to show off a comics in-joke posted in a public forum is worth mentioning.

On the one hand, I think this is genius … on the other, it’s grossly criminal. Seeing this type of graffiti splashed on buildings all around town, just like in the comics, adds a level of meta-ness that, I think, heightens the movie going experience. But I suspect that owners of storefronts and buildings who may fall victim to this type of marketing might not be too happy about the practice. I agree with the report that we may never find out if this graffiti is actually sanctioned by the movie makers or if it’s merely the work of fanboys. Having seen the film yesterday (review to come later today), I can understand how fans of the original comic might want to express their fandom in this way. The movie, in my estimation, is excellent. While I personally would not go to these lengths to profess my fandom, I can see how some might. It’d be interesting to know if this sort of graffiti has been seen in any other cities.

She got her wish, will be playing Jane
It’s Official! Dakota Fanning Joins The Cast Of The ‘Twilight’ Sequel

Welp, it’s a done deal, y’all. A new email sent out by Summit Entertainment, the company that will produce the entire Twilight Saga franchise of movies, is confirming that Dakota Fanning has been officially cast to play Volturi vampire Jane in the upcoming film The Twilight Saga’s New Moon:

As some of you may be aware, Jane is described in the book as a vampire who has a “Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises” … which is a role that I think Dakota can play well. In January, we learned that her name was being floated around for the role and a couple of days after, Dakota herself publicly expressed her interest in playing the part. Many Pink readers were very much on board with her getting the role … while the folks against her getting the part were merely worried that her “big name”ness might spoil the film. To be honest, it never occurred to me that Dakota would be perfect for the role of Jane until her name was being floated around … now she’s the only person I can imagine doing the role justice. I think Summit Entertainment made a wise choice. I expect Dakota will be making her way up to Vancouver, Canada in the coming weeks (if not sooner) to join the rest of the New Moon castmembers who are making their way there now to begin filming (you may recall that earlier this week we saw photos of Taylor Lautner, who will reprise his role as Jacob Black, was spotted at LAX Airport headed for Vancouver). What do y’all think … are y’all still on board with Dakota playing Jane?
