The LA prosecutor’s office has decided to charge singer Chris Brown with 2 felonies on the grounds that he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Rihanna in the early hours of February 8 just hours before the both of them were to perform at the Grammy Awards later that night. Despite the presumed fact that Rihanna has decided to reconcile with her alleged attacker, the prosecutor’s office has decided to move forward with their case against him. Singer Chris Brown was charged on Thursday with felony assault and making a criminal threat after an alleged attack on his girlfriend, the singer Rihanna. Brown, 19, will appear in court on Thursday, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted of the two felonies. Prosecutors said he attacked Rihanna the night before the Grammy Awards last month. Rihanna, 21, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, was referred to in the official complaint as “Robyn F.” She had not previously been identified by authorities as the victim. The charges were filed a week after Brown and Rihanna, who dated for about a year, were reported by celebrity magazines to have reconciled.
I understand the LA District Attorney felt he had enough evidence to charge Brown with these crimes even taking into consideration that Rihanna may choose to NOT testify against him. According to a local FOX affiliate report here in SoCal, a detective’s notes from the time of the incident contain very damaging information against Chris Brown and may be part of the prosecutor’s case against him.
