Lindsay Lohan & Samantha Ronson Attend A London Bar Mitzvah

Is Lindsay converting to Judaism?
Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Lindsay Lohan and girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who (on Friday) we learned made their way to London, England, were spotted at a Bar Mitzvah synagogue ceremony and afterparty celebration for Samatha’s half-brother Joshua. According to reports, Lindsay is contemplating a conversion to the Jewish faith in an effort to get closer to the Ronson family. HMMM. Here are a few photos of L. Ron enjoying themselves at the Mondrian Hotel where the Bar Mitzvah afterparty was held this weekend:

Lindsay Lohan is converting to Judaism in a bid to prove her devotion to Jewish girlfriend Samantha Ronson. Although raised a Catholic, the 22-year-old star announced she was planning to change her faith on her Facebook page. After jetting into London last week, Lindsay joined girlfriend Samantha at the Bar Mitzvah of the DJ’s half-brother Joshua Ronson at the Westminster Synagogue on Saturday. After taking part in the service, Lindsay then went to the nearby Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge to celebrate Joshua’s ‘coming of age’. Showing her seriousness about converting, Lindsay had also visited the synagogue the day before with Samantha and her designer sister Charlotte. Entering the synagogue, a photographer asked Lindsay if she was switching religions, to which she replied: “I’m trying.” Updating her Facebook status this week, Lindsay wrote ‘I’m converting’. Lindsay’s change of religion is sure to surprise her family, who come from a long line of Catholics. Her great-grandfather John L. Sullivan was one of the founders of the Long Island Pro-Life Party. Her estranged father Michael Lohan rediscovered his relationship with God during a period in jail and now works as a minister. Michael said: “She’s exploring Judaism right now. She’s explored the Church of Scientology, she tried Kabbalah, and now this. I think it’s just another phase. But either way, she’s involving God in her life, and I’m happy about that.” Lindsay is currently staying in famous friend Bryan Adam’s house during her visit to London. As well as religious duties, Lindsay has been spotted doing a spot of shopping on Chelsea’s King’s Road. The Mean Girls star spent an hour in Wolford, where she bought several pairs of expensive tights, before going to Nobu for lunch. Since Lindsay started dating Samantha last year, she has grown close to the Ronson family.

AWWW, how very Charlotte York of L. Lo to convert to the Jewish faith out of love for her partner. While I sincerely doubt that an update on a Facebook page and attendance at a Bar Mitzvah really means a total religious conversion, I think it’s cool of Lindsay to entertain the switch for Samantha. Irregardless of whether or not she is serious about converting, I fully support L. Ron growing closer together … whatever that may mean in terms of religion or anything else. Again, I doubt that things are this serious between the two of them and I think this report is exaggerating a bit but … I guess you never know. The couple are still very happily together … and to that I say, Mazel Tov!!

The Davids

The TV Guide
Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Late Friday night we learned that one of David’s college friends from Semester at Sea would be visiting LA for just a day as he laied over on a flight to Hawaii. We met up with Dave and his friend Luis, both from Washington DC, for a bite to eat at Basix yesterday afternoon. We hung out for a little while and then parted ways so that they could spend the afternoon at Venice Beach. David returned home to do some work and I went for a walk on Melrose Ave. My “walk” turned into a shopping adventure and I ended up coming home with a few bags of fun stuff. Before I made my way home with my new acquisitions, I ran into Pink reader Carla and her friend Nora as they made their way out of the Warren Tricomi Salon:

I gotta say, Carla looked so nice that I felt like a schlub standing next to her. Our pic is really cute, tho! Carla tells me that I have to give a shout-out to her good friend Ali who lives in Austin, TX as she is a fan of the blog. Who knows, mebbe I’ll get to run into Ali when I’m in Austin in a few weeks for the SXSW Festival there :)

Last night, David and I got cajoled into meeting up with Dave, Luis and some of their friends for drinks at their place and then dancing at Cherry Pop! afterward. Even tho David and I have become domesticated homebodies, we had a great time hanging out with everyone. Here is a cute pic of David and his friend Dave:

Josh came out with us and a fun time was had by all. I have to give a shout out to Pink readers John (from LA) and Abby (and her crew) who are visiting from NYC. It was my pleasure meeting you all :)

Today … David and I tackle our master bedroom. It’s been a shambles for far too long, plus we need a bed. That’s our plan for today. Fuuuuuun!

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Spend A Family Day On Santa Monica Pier

Harlow spends time with mommy, daddy and aunt Sophia
Sunday, March 1st, 2009

A week ago today, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte announced on his official blog that he and Nicole Richie are going to be parents again (well, actually, what he said was that their daughter Harlow Winter was going to become a big sister soon) and the goss world responded with happy rejoicing. Today we get to see a few photos of Nic/Joel with little Harlow and Nicole’s little sister Sophia enjoying a nice family day on Santa Monica Pier yesterday afternoon … behold:

It’s always nice to see Nicole spending time with her younger siblings … we don’t usually get to see much of Sophia out and about. Perhaps Nic/Joel are trying to get in the habit of taking care of two kids at the same time. Now that we know that they’ve got another child on the way, I’m sure it won’t be long until we start to see actual proof. Nicole, who is a tiny woman, is not showing any signs of a baby bump just yet … which could mean that she’s still pretty early in her pregnancy OR that Nic/Joel are planning to adopt. HMM. At this point, we’re not sure which is actually the case … but practicing with two kids at once is a good idea whatever comes to pass for their expanding family. I just love their happy family. I can’t wait to see it get bigger :)

Lauren Conrad Plans The Release Of Her First Novel, ‘L.A. Candy’

LC turns her reality TV life into a work of fiction
Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Lauren LC Conrad, star of the MTV reality TV programs Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and The Hills and fashion designer of the Lauren Conrad Collection, is lookin’ to add the title of author to her ever-expanding resume. Last year it was reported that LC landed a 3-book deal with HarperCollins Publishers to write her own series of young adult books that focus on a “a young girl who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show” … which sounds awfully familiar to me. In any event, here is our first look at the cover artwork for LC’s first book in the series, L.A. Candy:

Lauren Conrad: From The Hills to the best-seller’s list? The MTV reality star’s name tops the cover of her first novel, L.A. Candy, which hits shelves June 16. Conrad’s publishing debut is a fictional story about a 19-year-old girl named Jane Roberts who has not-so-subtle similarities to the author. “Roberts can’t wait to start living it up,” the official book synopsis says. “She may be in L.A. for an internship, but Jane plans to play as hard as she works and has enlisted her BFF Scarlett to join in the fun.” In the novel, the two main characters are approached by a producer who wants them to be on a reality version of Sexy and the City. The book is about “what it’s like to come of age in Hollywood while starring in a reality TV show, written by a girl who has experienced it all firsthand,” the synopsis says.

Um, so lemme get this straight. LC got herself a book deal to write a work of fiction about a girl who comes to LA as an intern and ends up getting a gig on a reality TV series … and people are supposed to be interested in something like that? She’s basically gonna write a fictionalized version of her life, which is already broadcast in TV form, and people are gonna wanna read that? What? I’m all for LC expanding her horizons and making as much money as she can but couldn’t they come up with an idea for a book series that was a little more inventive? Truth be told, this series of books is prolly gonna be ghostwritten by someone else anyway … are there no original ideas left in the publishing world? LC has already SWORN that the 5th season of The Hills will be her last … so these books should be coming out right around the same time the show ends … so basically, she’ll just be retelling the whole story of the life she just lived on TV in book form. I’m not sure if this idea is a stroke of lazy genius or just a travesty to the world of publishing. No offense to LC but I hope that young readers are able to find more interesting things to read. A book series written by a reality TV star about a reality TV star that is based on the life of a reality TV star sounds like a horrrrible idea. I have never been a proponent of book burning but …
