It would appear that Whitney Houston, who surfaced over the weekend to first pay tribute to Clive Davis at the Grammy Awards Salute to Icons event on Saturday night and then to present the first award at the Grammy Awards show on Sunday night, is still pretty good “friends” with the much younger gentleman known as Ray J. As you may be aware, Whitney and Ray J turned heads back in 2007 when the pair started hanging out together (after Whitney‘s very public divorce from Bobby Brown). At the time, I guessed that mebbe Whit was going thru a mid-life crisis and Ray J was kind enough to offer his support and attention. It would appear that the pair have remained in contact since those scandalous days … Whitney left the Grammy Awards show on Sunday with Ray J … here are pics of the couple in his car as they tried to make their escape:
Interesting. I totally got it when the couple started hanging out back in the day … Whitney got some lurvin’ (or, at the very least, some close attention) from Ray J and Ray J got a lot of press that helped boost his visibility when he was trying to make a name for himself (as he tried to get out of his older sister Brandy‘s shadow). I’m not sure what is going on now … tho, it should be mentioned that Ray J just debuted a new reality show on VH1 called For the Love of Ray J (think Rock of Love/Flavor of Love type show). Whitney, well, she’s just being Whitney. I cannot hate the woman for gettin’ her freak on … as long as it doesn’t interfere with her LONG-AWAITED comeback album. It’s been years since we’ve heard this album is “close to coming out” and yet … nothing. I just fear she’s gonna fly back East and disappear for another year until she’s summoned back to LA to pay tribute to Clive Davis again. But, I’m getting off topic. I don’t mind if Whitney is mackin’ on Ray J … I just want her to stay in LA and finish her damn album. If Ray J and his talents can keep her here, I’m all for it. Tho, it’d be wise of Ray J to keep his reality TV chicks far away from Ms. Houston. Something tells me that Whitney don’t like to share. What do y’all think … do these two make a good couple — or are you just creeped out?

In an interview with Brandy, she said she’s asked him and asked him, but he insists they’re just good friends. *shrug*

The more I think about this – maybe it’s partly just that his name is so wierd to me…makes me think of a restaurant, like mebbe “Ray J’s Fish n Chips” or something, lol
