TMZ Releases A Photo Of Rihanna’s Injuries
Late yesterday evening, TMZ released a fairly graphic of Rihanna that shows the injuries she sustained in the alleged assault on her person by her boyfriend Chris Brown in the early morning hours of Sunday February 8. As soon as I saw the photo for myself, I was horrified by the injuries that are very evident in the photo … and immediately decided that I did not want to post the photo on my site. It turns out that the photo was released WITHOUT the consent of the LAPD, who has launched an official investigation to find out who leaked the photo to TMZ. Here is the official statement on the unauthorized release of this horrific phot and and the info that TMZ provided with the release of the photo:

TMZ has obtained a photo of Rihanna taken after Chris Brown allegedly beat her.
I am pretty disgusted that someone inside the LAPD apparently leaked this photo to TMZ … I cannot really see the merit to republish the photo on my site when it is already readily available elsewhere. I absolutely understand that this news is of interest to many people and I also understand that the release of a photo like this might speak to the many women out there who may suffer from domestic abuse and may prove a wake up call that they are not alone. I just cannot bring myself to feature the photo on my site. Interested people can head over to TMZ to see the photo if they so desire. I, personally, was so disturbed from seeing the photo that I just cannot republish the photo here. Rihanna’s injuries look serious, I just hope that if any crimes are proved from this case that due justice is duly served.

I saw the photo on TMZ not knowing that it was on there. I can’t believe how evident her injuries are, and if Chris Brown is found guilty then he needs to be fully prosecuted. I feel bad for Rihanna and send my thoughts and prayers out to her.
February 20th, 2009 at 12:19 am
Trent, I totally respect your decision which is very classy by the way. Most sites are just posting the picture just to get a substantial amount of hits for their website purposes… so I agree with you not wanting to publish it. I think it is so unattractive that someone from the LAPD leaked this photo to the likes of TMZ! I guess it’s just like those medical files of Britney Spears when she was put in the hospital last year. Poor Rihanna. I hope justice is served!
February 20th, 2009 at 12:22 am
That’s very classy of you not to post the picture. It is already a very sad situation and photo is really just a massive invasion of her privacy. I just hope that people will stop blaming Rihanna (she’s the victim remember) and realize the severity and depravity of domestic violence.
February 20th, 2009 at 12:37 am
This photo definitely crosses a privacy line, and it does not surprise me that you have the heart to skip publishing it. Thank you. :)
February 20th, 2009 at 1:04 am
Poor girl. The marks will eventually fade, but the pain of all of this won’t ever really go away.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:11 am
Thiis is right up there with the picture of Heaths body bag for me.
Theres certain things that just shouldn’t be public. I usually agree that most of the time, they do know that this is the life they’ve gotten into, but any abused woman, famous or not, shouldn’t have to worry about their private police pictures being given to gossip rags.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:44 am
Check out the picture of Rihanna beaten up by Chris Brown on:
h t t p : / / whatspoppin . punt . nl
for your daily pop-culture fix!
February 20th, 2009 at 1:45 am
Yeesh! I hope the karma police are gunning for whoever leaked this photo.
I shudder to think back to that story about Rihanna helping a little girl find a bone marrow donor, which I think was just a couple days or so before the Grammy’s. It’s just overwhelming how her attempts to do good were seriously derailed by an horrific assault brought on by someone (allegedly) who she likely thought loved her!
Blah, I am just so totally grossed out by this. I hope she’s going to be okay and is now with people she can trust.
February 20th, 2009 at 2:43 am
Trent,
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!! Way to not post the pic on your site. On other sites they dont even give you the option to view it or not its just up there for all to see. I totally agree with you and find it refreshing that you didnt put the pic up. You are a stand up guy. Respect.
February 20th, 2009 at 3:20 am
Thank you for having the class to respect Rihanna’s dignity and not post this picture. The only people who need to see it are a jury, if it comes to that. I volunteer at a local shelter for abused women, and what is so traumatic for so many of them is not only the abuse itself but the loss of dignity and feelings of self-respect — posting pictures like this can only serve to humiliate Rihanna, who has suffered enough.
February 20th, 2009 at 3:50 am
Trent I am so proud of you that you choose not to post that photo!! This story really hits home for me! Something simular happen to me years, years ago with my ex POLICEMEN soon to be hubby it was just a nightmare very public affair my heart is with Rihanna!
February 20th, 2009 at 4:12 am
Well done, Trent – 100% the right decision. Lets hope that she uses her experiences – and the additional empathy no doubt gained from this extraordinary violation of her privacy – to garner more attention for the issue of domestic violence. This proves that it can happen to anyone and we all need to be on guard for it in our own relationships. I hope there are appropriate prosecutions and that the consequences of domestic violence receive equal publicity – now those are photos I think you should post :)
February 20th, 2009 at 4:55 am
trent ur a class act! i salute you. Someone should file a case against TMZ. and shut them down.
February 20th, 2009 at 5:02 am
Trent you just scored MAJOR points with me not posting that awful picture of Rihanna. I love my celebrity dirt fixes like many of you. I visit many sites and have seen this picture plastered all over them. I wonder if the owners of these sites would post a picture of thier mother, sister, or daughter??? I sincerely doubt it. It really warms my heart that you did not post this picture. I myself have been the victim of domestic abuse. I know exactly what Rihanna is feeling right now. My heart goes out to her. I hope and pray she stays away and doesn’t take Chris back. And my hopes for Chris is for him to get the help he needs to stop this cycle of abuse.
February 20th, 2009 at 5:07 am
i hate to be the one to say it, but i smell a little bit of hypocricy here.
you can’t say you are going to take the high road and not post the picture and then put a link directly to it.
i totally understand that you feel the need to report it (so that you don’t appear to be out of the loop) but the really classy thing to do would be to not post the photo or link to it.
February 20th, 2009 at 5:47 am
And this is why PITNB will forever be my favorite site. Kudos to you, Trent, for having dignity when almost every other gossip site does not.
:)
February 20th, 2009 at 5:54 am
You have proven, once again, just what a class act you are Trent. Thank you for your compassion in the way you handled this, and all your posts. I am very impressed! <3 U.
February 20th, 2009 at 6:01 am
good for you trent every other blog i’ve been to has the pic posted and i’m glad that you are not going to post the pic on your blog..
February 20th, 2009 at 6:08 am
I applaud your decision Trent.
February 20th, 2009 at 6:37 am
I’m proud of you Trent! ::sigh:: Poor Rihanna, what a way to spend your 21st birthday. Happy Birthday Rihanna!
February 20th, 2009 at 6:41 am
This is the only gossip blog I ever read anymore. You never stoop, call names, act ugly, or cross the line. It is appreciated!
February 20th, 2009 at 6:43 am
Good choice not to put the pic up Trent… choices like that are why I read your blog and skip so many others. I will be the first to admit that I REALLY, REALLY don’t want to believe that Chris Brown has done this. There are so many sides to every story and I really hope this has been spun differently than what really happened. I’m also really hoping that this photo is fake and that someone in the LAPD didn’t leak it. They had just come from a Grammy party but she isn’t wearing any make-up? There isn’t even any residue around her eyes and she always wears pretty heavy liner and false lashes…
February 20th, 2009 at 6:58 am
Amanda, I know it’s hard to admit that people we admire can do horrible things, but you really sound like you’re in denial. The LAPD has confirmed this is not a photoshopped picture and that they are investigating the leak. Chris Brown did this – there’s no spinning it.
Trent, thanks for not posting. I made the mistake of letting my curiosity get the better of me and looked at it on TMZ. Unfortunately, once you see something, you can’t UNSEE it.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:00 am
It was classy of you not to post the pic.It almost looks like she is dead. It is pretty disturbing. Unlike TMZ which put the pic up for you to see whether you wanted to or not. Keep up the good work.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:03 am
@ Amanda — Wow. Really? After photographed evidence (the LAPD would not feel the need to issue a press release about a fake photo) you still need to linger on trivial details like how much makeup is on her face?
Perhaps between the time she was getting her face beat in and the picture was taken, she was able to splash some water her face? Her lips look like they sill have remnants of dried blood around them- was she supposed to leave that on too, to make sure you can see the photo is genuine?
I am not happy at ALL that this leaked (some people will do anything for a buck or 15 minutes of fame) because I was a victim of physical and mental abuse by my high school boyfriend and no one should have to deal with their pain put on blast all over the internet.
Shame on anyone who suggests this is photoshop. Shame.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:04 am
I totally disagree. Why mention it on your website if you’re not going to have the guts to post it? Rihanna is a public person, the incident happened in public, but most of all, it’s part of the story. You posted plenty of tasteless pictures in the past that violated celebrity privacy, i.e. Britney, Anna Nicole. Why is Rihanna any different? As long as the effects of domestic violence are hidden by choices like yours to keep it “private” it will remain a problem in our society. The world should see what Chris Brown did to Rihanna in as many venues as possible. He deserves the shame. Those in the media need to stop coddling society and show them the whole truth in a story even if parts of it are ugly. Denying the truth only allows problems like domestic violence to persist and for society not to grow up and deal with serious problems.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:09 am
So we’ll (yes us looky loo’s) look at pictures of people self destructing (Amy Winehouse, shaved Britany Spears with an umbrella).
But looking at pictures of a victim of destructive behavior is somehow different. Maybe but not by much.
There both the results if destructive behavior and you/us react the same . . . the OMG reaction.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:10 am
GOOD ON YOU, TRENT! Thank you so much for having the class and INTEGRITY not to post pictures that were ILLEGALLY obtained by TMZ. PITNB is the ONLY celebrity blogging site that I like, as you have a real sense of integrity and duty to not only your readers, but to the celebrities whose lives you cover to respect their privacy while keeping people as informed as possible. That speaks volumes of the kind of person you are.
As for TMZ, and whomever is the responsible party at the LAPD…shame, shame, SHAME on you. It will be interesting, if this case ends up going to trial, to see if obtaining an unbiased jury is even possible, now that these pictures are out there for the world to see.
Thank you again, Trent. You are a class-act!
February 20th, 2009 at 7:11 am
What “canuck” said . . . is very good
February 20th, 2009 at 7:12 am
classy’s the way to go. woot
February 20th, 2009 at 7:39 am
Trent, I appreciate and respect your decision not to post the pic. However, I don’t think linking to it is that much better. I love your site and have much respect for you as a blogger, but I don’t feel patting yourself on the back for not posting the picture and then directing people to another site to view it is a classy thing to do.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:40 am
Trent, thank you for not posting the picture directly here – very classy and dignified of you. Entertainment Weekly did the same (but didn’t post a link). The Chicago Tribune, on the other hand, had it front and center at the top of their article and I was disgusted both by the picture and the fact that an internationally-known and allegedly reputable news outlet would publish evidence from an ongoing criminal investigation.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:47 am
@Belle — I am not patting myself on the back for anything nor am I directing anyone to do anything. The photo is very likely viewed by some people as newsworthy and people are free to do whatever they like. I merely stated that I am choosing not to republish it.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:53 am
@Head Shake People — I think the scenarios are very different. On one hand, you’ve got people choosing to engage in reckless and dangerous behavior, showing just how people are willing fritter away wealth and fame. On the other hand, you’ve got an alleged incident of violence perpetrated on one person by another against their will. Very different scenarios.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:57 am
@canuck — Exactly how am I hiding anything? Not only did I talk about how horrible the photo made me feel but I also mentioned that some might find redeeming value in seeing the photo even tho I am deciding not to republish it. I’ve talked pretty extensively since the news came out about the matters of domestic violence and leave it up to the reader to choose to see the photo or not. In any event, there isn’t anything for you to agree with. I’m not publishing the pic, the end.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:58 am
Totally your decision, and I truly respect and agree with it. Just a different opinion on how the post read. No offense intended.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:01 am
@me — again, while I feel the photo is not something I want to republish others may find it newsworthy and are free to do as they wish. i, personally, do not want it on my site … that’s all.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:06 am
i respect your decision. I think it is an honorable thing to do. This is YOUR site and it is YOUR choice as to what is posted on here and what isn’t. The pictures of Britney and Amy Winehouse… those pictures are a result of their own choices, those pictures were not unauthorized and private. Although what happened to Rihanna may have happened in the public outside, this picture of her was taken in privacy by a police force that is supposed to protect her.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:07 am
i applaud you trent & respect you for not posting the pic. i don’t see anything wrong w/ providing the link to the pic – people can look if they want. i think it’s wrong it got ‘leaked’ but i suspected that coming w/ her status the way it is. i’ve been through domestic violence myself & while I did not sustain injuries that bad, domestic violence is domestic violence – no matter how little or much is done. i feel for her & hope she is able to recover real soon. chris brown, on the other hand, no longer has any of my respect. pathetic.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:17 am
Kudos to you Trent. People may say that the release of the picture will be a wake up call to people but I’m not sure if she would have wanted that picture to be released… at least not yet if anything. This is evidence that needed to be kept private.
But Chris Brown. Oooo he’s gonna get it. His career is officially done.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:18 am
Thank you Trent for not posting the pic. I saw it last night, and it is awful, and really did not need to see it again today! Perhaps this will lead the LAPD to look into trying to regulate the bounties on celebrity photos. I’m sure this pic was worth a hefty sum, obviously enough to outwiegh the consequences of leaking it. Guess this just goes to prove that money and morality just dfon’t mix!
As far as the injuries, I am very interested to see how Chris Brown’s camp tries to spin this. The evidence is very damning. I am a fan of both CB and Rhianna, and though I am trying to give him the “innocent until proven guilty” label, it’s getting harder and harder for me to do so. :(
February 20th, 2009 at 8:22 am
Thank you, Trent, that is very admirable that you would not post the picture. I wish there were more people like you in the world.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:22 am
I agree with your decision as someone who worked with Domestic Violence victims in college this is terrible that this photo was leaked, I hope Rihanna can move on and find the courage to remove this negative person from her life, however, famous. I have to admit originally I didn’t want to believe it but the more that came out it was obvious that she was severely beaten with no remorse.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:24 am
wise choice :) xo that’s why i keep coming back! there’s a great person behind this blog.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:26 am
I think Trent not showing the pic doesn’t have anything to do with him trying to get respect or anything, it made him sick to his stomach to see the picture so why would he post it on his site which he updates daily where he’ll have to see it again and again? That’s his decision whether we as the readers agree with it or not.
I did, however, follow the link to tmz and looked at the photo and the look of pain on her face… the emotional pain and embarassment on her face is absolutely heart-breaking so I can understand why trent wouldn’t want to put this up again. I can’t believe she has to go through this publicly, i can only imagine the pain she feels…
February 20th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Even if the photo was leaked, is it possible someone could have photoshopped it after the fact? I could have sworn I read a headline about that yesterday but I can’t seem to find it now. I have no loyalties to either Chris Brown or Rihanna but I just still feel like I can’t believe anything in this story until I hear some hardcore facts. I actually think none of us will ever know what really happened that night but something about this photo just seems too easy and sensationalistic. Why else would the LAPD say that it “has the appearance” of one of our photos, as opposed to “it is the exact photo”? Something seems off. I do admire that you chose not to post it though Trent. Thanks for all that you do!
February 20th, 2009 at 8:39 am
Euh Im sorry but.. not publishing it, but giving links to it.. is same same to me. Still everyone can see it through your website.
But you’ve considered the thought of not showing it directly.. guess somehow it shows your professionalism.
I did not expect RiRi was beaten up so badly. Just less then a month ago I went to Chris Brown’s concert. Rihanna showed up for 2 songs. They look so happy at that time. Sigh..
February 20th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Trent,
Much respect to you…..classy not dirty and you still get the info out.
Thank you!
February 20th, 2009 at 8:56 am
Thank you Trent for not publishing that photograph! The line between enjoying celebrity gossip and photos and harmfully intruding on other people’s lives is very blurry, and I appreciate that I can enjoy your site without feeling like I am participating in some really gross voyeurism. Your site is my favorite because your good intentions are always apparent unlike many gossip sites that seem to be mean-spirited. Thank you again! Oh, and @ canuck, while I agree that Chris Brown deserves all the shame in the world, the problem is that Rihanna should be able to have control of the situation. Although she doesn’t deserve to, she could feel shame as well or even fear of further consequences. Victims of violence should not feel that if they report the crime their pictures will be splashed all over the media without their consent.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:01 am
Thanks for not publishing it. I did see the pic.
How horrific… she looks badly beaten, definitely. I hope she can leave this behind her soon :(
February 20th, 2009 at 9:08 am
Wow…I don’t wanna see it. Thxs Trent. Happy B-Day…You know what this is fucked up. On her birthday this shyt happens to her??? Fuck the LAPD and TMZ. My heart goes out to Rihanna…hope she has a good b-day. But now this fucking photo leaked everyone gonna see what she looked like…this is just sad. Happy B-Day RIHANNA!
February 20th, 2009 at 9:09 am
I have to say while I think it is a very big invasion of privacy, I am glad the picture was posted, I was just so mad at people saying she deserved this and how its her fault, well now people can see what that “MAN” did and honestly if anyone still think she deserved it they need help.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:11 am
Thank you for having the respect to refrain from posting the picture.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I applaud you for not publishing the photo…it was plastered on the news this morning and I was disgusted with the circumstances surrounding the release and news channels/ internet sites jaded by sensationalism. After managing to escape an abusive relationship recently myself, I can identify with the humiliation, embarassment, and low feelings of self-worth that are a result of being with someone so terrible. It takes months, years, to recover from something like this, and this poor girl is still only weeks into her own personal hell. I feel for her. I appreciate you for not posting the photo, you are truly a decent and caring person.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:21 am
I’ve never had more respect for you than I do right now. No wonder this is my fav website.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Rihanna should have been the one to say if and when the photo was released. While she is a public figure and leaked photos are a kind of occupational hazard, she should be able to trust that a picture like this would be kept private in the hands of the LAPD. Looking at the picture, it was obviously a very very violent attack, and she’s still a very young girl. She hasn’t had much time to heal emotionally, and knowing that the world has seen her in her most vulnerable state could do more harm than good. I doubt she’s ready to have her mangled face used in some sort of crusade to inform battered women that they’re not alone…and it should be her choice. Aside from that, this picture was probably not leaked with the intention of helping battered women…I’m sure someone got a nice paycheck – and it wasn’t Rihanna. Though I agree that the picture could be good for other victims of abuse to see, I don’t agree that it’s the best time for Rihanna. Props to you, Trent, for showing some sensitivity to the fact that this is a young girl’s life we’re all looking in on.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Good job, Trent. I was incredibly distured when I came across the pictures. It’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen, I can hardly believe TMZ had the balls to show the picture, I’m disgusted at them
February 20th, 2009 at 9:31 am
I clicked and looked…I felt the sting of tears. While some of you are awfully verbose, I do not know what to say.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:43 am
If you aren’t afraid of the truth and dont VICTIMIZE those who PUT THEMSELVES IN DANGEROUS POSITIONS head on over to my blog.
Rhianna could have left the first time he hit her. SHE DIDN’T.
Therefore any abuse she has received is 50% her own fault.
I do not understand seeing women as inferior once they are hit. she had legs, bodyguards, managers, family and more to protect her. AND SHE STILL DIDN’T GET OUT.
Police records are public property, the thought of keeping photos like this private , keeps the problem of domestic abuse under a blanket.
OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:44 am
You reconfirmed exactly why I come here instead of other celebrity blogs. Kudos to being classy.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:48 am
When I opened my Internet browser, my email sign-in page is my home page, and there are some news in there. I saw the photo and did not want to click on it bt unfortunately it has been published in its full glory on several websites.
Trent, I am so relieved you did not post it. I was sad for her, and horrified by the photo.
I do not see there “Rhianna”, a famous singer, but a very hurt and aching 20 year old girl who was abused and beaten by her “boyfriend”.
some things should NOT be published. Please please don’t publish it. It should be removed.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:59 am
this is why i read you and not perez. thx for not posting the pic. i don’t want to see it and i didn’t click the link. that kind of information does not need to be made public.
February 20th, 2009 at 10:02 am
Get off your throne Pink. While you showed some class by not posting the pic, you still posted the link where it can be viewed. You get an F
February 20th, 2009 at 10:03 am
The Dahlia Post…
It is NO ONE’S fault for being hit! I’m sorry but that is the most disgusting thing I have read in a long time!
She did NOT deserve to be hit…nor takes 50% blame for staying in the abusive relationship if he did abuse her prior to this. We do not know if it did happen before. Assumptions are always B A D!!!!!!!!!
Trent…this is why I keep coming back to your site. No one had to click on the link if they didn’t want to! Those that are saying shame on you for posting the link…they had a choice!
The pictures are horrific…I feel so bad for her. I wish I wouldn’t have clicked on it!
February 20th, 2009 at 10:06 am
I saw the Photo late last night on a different site, and quickly came here to see if you had seen it yet or were going to post it. I then realized you probably wouldn’t. I was so releaved this morning when I check to see that you knew about the photo but decided against it. THIS is why you’re my favorite and why I will continue to come back here. I can read about theses celebrities, have a few laughs and not feel like i’m doing anything wrong by getting TOO deep into these people’s privacy. Keep up the good work Trent. :)
February 20th, 2009 at 10:06 am
i agree with erica – come down off your high horse – classy my ass
February 20th, 2009 at 10:07 am
@Erica — great idea to offer grades. You totally deserve an A … for A$$Hat!
February 20th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Thank you for not posting the picture. I wish that Rihanna had the choice whether or not it was released. I think you did the perfect thing. While Rihanna deserves her privacy, a lot of people need to see the dark results of an abusive relationship. And to those blaming RiRi, yes she could have left, and she could have instigated it, but he could have killed her.
February 20th, 2009 at 10:16 am
He deserves everything coming to him. Happy birthday Ri!So many people will find hope in her story now. I learned from my aunt and got out before it was too late, and if even one persons life is saved due to this leak, then unfortunatly its worth it. But then again, she has to pay once again…
February 20th, 2009 at 10:26 am
While the thought is there in not posting the image, the link does kind of defeat the purpose; this is the first site I’ve come to and it was that easy to see it. At least make someone google it if they want to see it that badly.
I do think an interesting point is raised – if Britney’s actions in the past are due to a mental illness, then why should she not be treated with the same respect? She’s made some pretty bad choices in the past, but it got to a point where it was obvious she wasn’t that well.
February 20th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Trent, I’m going to add to the chorus. Yours is the only gossip blog I read anymore and this is exactly why.
February 20th, 2009 at 11:12 am
its soooo good that you did not post the photo
i admire that
and it shows respect!
good job
February 20th, 2009 at 11:20 am
posting a link the picture isnt that much better than just putting it up
sure, you dont directly see it but you still give a way to get to it…anyways
that is soooo sad she looks bad =[
February 20th, 2009 at 11:54 am
I saw the picture on the news last night when I wasn’t expecting to see it. It made me cry. Thanks Trent for giving me the choice to view it instead of posting on the front page or after the jump. Posting the link give me the choice to view and I choose not to.
February 20th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
people are always going to be curious and want to see something that has been featured in the news as trent has already clarified this in an earlier reply. @beeba saying posting a link isn’t that much better- you don’t have to click on the link, it’s not hard to refrain oneself from clicking on a link to view something but trent gave us a choice of whether we wish to do so unlike other websites and for him doing so along with other things he posts, i continue to only read pink.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
I completely respect your decision not to publish those photos and think you are just really awesome and classy for not doing so. I think it shows you really aren’t observing this as if it were a show and I really think you’re a sweetheart for respecting Rihanna like this
February 20th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
I knew you wouldn’t post the photo, and I’m glad. Thank you.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Dahlia, sometimes you CAN’T leave, when someone is assaulting you……. I wish she could’ve beat that dude’s ass!!!
February 20th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
PixieBassline – Maybe Chris will Start seeing older women and even older women.
If he tried that shizz with Naomi Campbell or Grace Jones, he’d be mumbling his apology from a hospital bed…..if he lived.

Thanks for not posting it. I thought that that was very classy of you. Love ya!

Thank you Trent for having the decency to protect Rihanna’s privacy and safety. Survivors of domestic assault are supposed to be protected. The blatant disregard of TMZ and other media outlets that chose to show her picture, only revictimizes Rihanna and all women who have survived domestic violence. She can be a role model and stand up against DV without her privacy being violated. It would have been one thing if she chose to release the photo, but otherwise it is completely wrong. Rihanna needs to get back her control which was stripped from her and this photo release takes her control away again. Disgusting!

I’m glad you didn’t post the picture (truth is, it’s everywhere at this point), but i am glad the photo got released. the negativity coming from people (rihanna gave him herpes, rihanna is a diva and “deserved it”, etc) was disgusting and people needed to see that domestic violence is an ugly, evil, spiteful thing. when people see the effects of abuse like this, they can finally see the outrage. even though chris brown won’t get the beatdown he deserves, i hope the law punishes him to the fullest extent they can.

Fuck all those people who are calling you un-classy for posting the link. This is what you do, you’re a quasi-journalist…I think by leaving it up to the reader’s to view the link as they choose was a respectful move. Nobody should thrust photos like that onto the public. Thank you for not doing so. I’m so shocked at the severity of the abuse. I can’t believe those photo’s were leaked…its clear the anguish she felt in her face…taking advantage of someone’s vulnerability is beyond revolting

The Dahlia Post~ You obviously have never been a victim of DV. I wouldn’t wish it on any person, however I hope one day your eyes opened to the truth of it.

I say this as a victim’s advocate and former domestic violence victim: Intimate partner violence/domestic violence is a common occurrence. It needs to be discussed publicly to take away the shame of being abused and serve to empower victims. Yes, it is a serious invasion of privacy to publish a victim’s brutalized face. However, the photo has been leaked. I hope Rihanna feels no shame in this event. I hope she seeks support. I hope Chris Brown seeks support. An abuser can modify their behavior if they really want to heal themselves through therapy. It takes time and effort to change. More importantly I hope she becomes an advocate. I hope other young women and men involved in violent relationships find the strength to leave their partners after witnessing this unfortunate event.

can i just say, PITNB is soooo less bitchy then some of the other gossip sites, that is why i love it so dear, (not to say i don’t love the other ones)
seriously, have u seen some of the comments left on some of the other sites. Alot of comments are so nasty and some… no ALOT of readers then say nasty things to the owner who spent bout 10 hours looking for news for the readers own enjoyment. I just read the post and don’t even bother reading the comments which I really love doing.
PITNB has such nice commenters, kudos to you Mr PITNB (im so sorry i dont know your name, clearly I haven’t red any of these comments, HA) for being such a nice person and then keeping the comments nice.
i love you PITNB & co.

I think it was unfortunate that the photo was leaked; however, after reading loads of comments other places and hearing quite a few young men where I live reference how “she probably wasn’t that messed up” or “she made him do it” (you get the picture of some of the attitudes out there) actually seeing what he did to her might shut some of those nay-sayers down. Yes, it was an invasion of her privacy. But I have heard way too many critical comments about her in the last couple of weeks. Maybe some of those people will see what happened to her and stop defending Chris Brown.

Oh my God. I knew that Chris Brown had beat her, but I didn’t know that he had hurt her like that. It really sucks that the photo was leaked, because now Rihanna is going through so much. Chris Brown really does deserve to go to jail for what he did to her. You are the only blogger I know that would not post that picture, and kudos to you for not doing that.

The photos was leaked because Rihanna was saying she was going to drop charges.

I admire and totally agree with you Trent. I think it’s cool that you give people the option of seeing the photo or not.
