Jessica Simpson took to the stage at The Kohl Center in Madison, WI last night as she opened for Rascal Flatts wearing a pair of her once-trademark cut-off Daisy Duke jean shorts paired with cowboy boots. As you may recall, Jessica took a lot of heat earlier this week when new photos of her came out that some people found fault with … in the days since, Jess has been carrying on by performing at various tour stops around the country — to marginal success. Jessica Simpson is a brave girl to risk wearing an outfit like this at a time when so many people are saying really horrible things about her. I’ve contended that she looked fine all along and these pics are no exception. Jessica is what she is … some call her ditzy, some call her talented, some call her unintelligent — but you simply cannot call her oversized. No way. She looks pretty damn good in these shorts and I applaud her for wearing them. I just hope she was wearing them for herself and not for anyone else. The public will always be impossible to please at all times, as long as she is happy with herself then nothing else matters. She may have come apart on stage a little during her performance in Grand Rapids, MI last Thursday but the girl’s got guts to keep soldiering on night after night well aware that her critics are waiting for more ammunition to use against her. I have to reiterate, I am not a fan of Jessica Simpson‘s music but I am a fan of her ability to remain resolute and strong in the face of such scrutiny. She’s got my support, I hope she manages to stay strong and outlast this stupid criticism of her weight. If she has to keep singing to do it, well, I guess I’m OK with that … begrudgingly ;) You go, Jess.

She looks hot. It is a sad thing when a perfectly gorgeous woman who is not anorexic looking is called fat. The majority of women do not fit under the category as many celebs do, so calling a role model like Jessica Simpson fat is disgusting and makes me hate the media.
She looks amazing! The shorts don’t look bad at all and she looks happy!
Oh yeah, she’s really huge. Practically obese. For goodness’ sake, this is all just ridiculous. Jessica Simpson might not be the brightest bulb in the box, but she can certainly fit inside it.
Wish I could say it was just an American thing but in the UK (especially in London) you HAVE to look ‘cool’, ‘edgy’ and ‘rock n roll’, which pretty much equals very very thin.

If she had some class and dressed better, her career might go further. She doesn’t have to dress like other pop ‘tarts’, but she always looks like a mess. She’d prob get more respect and fans if she tried a wee bit more. Still, fat? God no. It’s sad what Hollywood does to these girls/women. Curves used to be adored hundreds of years ago, even fifty years ago. Marilyn, hello?

She looks good, I would kill to have a body like hers… as for the “fat” remarks I saw the pictures and really “mom” jeans are not flattering on anyone no matter what size they are… really, she or whomever her stylist is should have known better… girl looks good though, keep on keepin’ on Jess!
She looks great! I love her…she has put on weight, but that doesn’t mean she is fat. She yo-yos alot, she always has and used to talk about her weight alot more earlier in her career. I’m glad she seems to be ignoring the criticism and doing her thing.
I know it might piss some ‘thick’ people off, but I think she’s lookin a little chunky there.. not exactly a big fat-ass…. but she needs to put the cookies and chips away, NOW, before she gets ANY bigger!! I’m sick of people saying that someone is TOO skinny (When they usually are just ‘naturally small’ people)… then, if they gain 2 pounds, they’re fat… and then, Jess has her THICK ass up on a stage, with daisy dukes on, looking like SHE’S the one that just had a baby…. and (some) people want to say “she’s not fat!”…. Dudes, if that was Paris Hilton, you’d be calling her fat, and you know it.
Ok I don’t think she is fat, but I do find her incredibly annoying. Her career is over. She needs to wake up and accept it.
Whoa Pixie Bassline! Where’s all that anger coming from? As someone who happens to be skinny, I think there are definitely people who ARE too skinny. Everyone has a different range of healthy body types. Why hate on Jessica because she has a voluptuous body type? I mean comparing her to Paris Hilton is ridiculous.

The problem is she practically starved herself for that “These Boots Are Made For Walking” video and strutted her hungry self in that bikini … now the tabloids/paps are forever going to compare her to when she was that weight.

I completely agree with you PixieBassline. She looks alright now but she looked a lot better before. I just hope she’s not being unhealthy. Every thing’s fine as long as she’s eating and exercising right.

@ inka, she was unhealthy when she was skinny. She’s not the “petite body” type and yet everyone keeps pressurizing her to be one. And that’s what’s wrong.
She’s at a “normal” weight for her and therefor looks better AND healthier and alot happier.
She’s not my favorite person in the world but why on earth would she have to loose weight that just isn’t right for her body type.
i think this whole thing is rediculous. no one would be talking about her weight if she didnt go all over the media circuit talking about her diet for the dukes of hazzard, and then shoot a video washing a car in a bikini. if you cant take the heat, dont put yourself in the fire. that being said, i dont think she’s fat at all, i think it was just an unfortunate outfit choice.
