Has The Winners List For This Year’s Academy Awards Leaked?
So … a mysterious email made its way to my inbox from an anonymous sender that came with an interesting document attached to it — a supposed scan of the winners list of this year’s Academy Awards. Now, I don’t buy that this list is actually genuine … but, in this day and age of leaks and spoilers, I guess you can never be too sure of anything:

Just in case this list turns out to be the real thing, I’ll keep the spoilery info behind the cut. After the jump, check out this supposed leaked document that lists the winners of the 81st annual Academy Awards …

LOL! You gotta love the language and the letterhead … it does give this document at least some semblance of officialness. Altho I still do not believe this is an genuine list of Oscar winners, there are some listed winners that will most likely turn out to be true come Sunday night. And look, according to this document The Curious Case of Benjamin Button actually wins something!! If anything, you can print this out and use it as your cheat sheet should you be attending any Oscar parties this weekend. Who knows, you may be the only person at the party to get every single winner right!

Kate Winslet isn,t up for her Reader role in the leading catergory. The Reader is her Supporting nom and Revolutionary Road is the leading nom.
Coulda been fun though!
February 19th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
No, she’s nominated for an Oscar for The Reader. She won the Golden Globe in the supporting category for that role, and the leading actress award for RR, but that’s not how they chose to nominate her for the Oscars.
February 19th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Nope, whether fake or not, the list has the nominees correct. Winslet was campaigning for supporting actress for The Reader and lead actress for Revolutionary Road but the Academy threw a curveball and nominated her as lead for The Reader. She recieved no nomination for her role in Revolutionary Road.
February 19th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
eh, won’t it be interesting if this turns out to be true…….;-)
February 19th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
Her performance in Revolutionary Road was amazing and so was her role in The Reader, but I prefer Revolutionary Road performance over The Reader. Whether this is fake or not, I knew Angelina isn’t going to win nor Brad Pitt. Dang.
February 19th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
Very interesting! If this is actually true, then that’s a big upset in the supporting actress category, as well as the music categories and adapted screenplay. We shall see!
February 19th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Has anyone noticed the spelling error? “Makcup”?? I’d like to think the real Academy Awards list would be flawless in that department!
February 19th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
The Reader is a terrible movie and she does not deserve an Oscar for it. She deserves an Oscar for her body of work. That, and Harvey’s campaign, will be why she wins, if she does.
Maybe the Time Magazine story today declaring her best actress is based on this?
February 19th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Likewise, if the best supporting actress win is true, that is not surprising. The Academy members like her, because she’s a hard-working actress who has enormous potential.
February 19th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
i’m pretty positive that i recall, from the twenty or so oscars i’ve watched in my lifetime, the the firm that handles the vote counting does so in complete secrecy. they don’t inform the academy bigwigs… actually, no one is supposed to know the winners before the envelopes are opened, or at least, that is what they say. so there would certainly be no official memo sent out to the “officers.”
February 19th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
Kool & the gang, baby! I’m sooooooo placing bets now!!!
tee hee
February 19th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
Weird if this does actually come true. Well, my top choices for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress are there – YESS!
February 19th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
I’m so taking this to my friend’s Oscar party! Since they usually award the Supporting Actress award first, we’ll know how legit this list is.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
I would love it if Brangelina won just for the craziness that would take place on the blogs after. hahaha I’m evil…
Plus Kate Winlset wants it too bad… she should show a little classy about wanting that damn Oscar.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
I agree with J, there is no reason for that list to be on a paper that gets sent out to anyone but whomever puts the winners’ names in the envelopes. If a list like that was sent out to anyone else, officers included, it would have been leaked in previous years. Every one of those winners may come true, but I don’t believe this document is real.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Price Waterhouse Cooper doesn’t give the list to the academy before the awards.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Mrs. D is correct the only people who would have this list is Price Waterhouse Cooper. So, to get a correct list it would have their letterhead on it, and somehow I very much doubt that it would be going through email or even regular mail as snail mail is opened by assistants not the execs.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
HA! lol If this list is true (which im sure its not), can you imagine how many heads will roll?? Funny
February 19th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
I’m pretty sure that says “Makeup”
February 19th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Although I would be happy if a lot of the people on this list win, it’s unlikely that this is real. The polls for the oscars closed at 5pm PST on the 17th, and I think it’s a bit unbelieveable that the accouting firm doing the votes counted over 5000 ballots in 24 categories in less than 48 hours.
Also, I’m pretty sure that the winners are kept under complete lock and key until the night of the show. Otherwise, there wouls be a chance of seomthing like this getting out and ruining the entire show.
I hope that most od the awards turn out to be true, though.
February 19th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
While I doubt this is true, I don’t see how they wouldn’t be able to have the ballots counted. We know who wins for president the day of and that’s MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of votes, I’m sure they could manage 5,000 in 48 hours.
February 19th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
boo, I feel like the odd one out. When I read the title I was like who cares? and then I read the comments and I went…oh, some people care. lol….I don’t think I’m making any sense.
February 19th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
Kate will definitely win..now as for Mickey, that remains to be seen. Has Hollywood forgiven him? I wonder. But, Hwood loves comeback stories..and though Sean P played Harvey Milk, it took him long enough to get the Best Acting win for Mystic River. With all of the Prop 8 mess going on, I can’t imagine Milk not going home with something. However, it should be Slumdog or BB that wins. I loved Slumdog, but BB was the most beautiful movie of the year, hands down. It was very long, but still, really made you think. Slumdog was the most CREATIVE of the year and my favorite. Not sure about Amy Adams. She was great, but I can’t see her winning yet, maybe?? Melissa Leo, now that was a great performance in Frozen River. Real tough woman making ends meet…
February 19th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
As long as Heath Ledger wins, I’m ok.
February 19th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
even if this was the real list, WHY would you post it?? i dont’ understand people like you, why do you feel the need to be like the annoying kid that shouts out the answers when its not your turn….
February 20th, 2009 at 12:28 am
@patches — hahaha, are you serious? i posted the doc for those who want to see it. if you don’t want to see it, don’t see it. plain and simple.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:51 am
The national elections have been tampered with; the last two elections were stolen; many people believe that, and reliable sources have written articles or books about it.
The oscars have been tampered with. There are books with solid sources that claim it happened. And historians tell us that it has been tampered with from the beginning.
We live in an age when this could very well happen again. And much soonere.
HOWEVER, this may also happen: i.e. changing the results, so as to restore the public’s belief in its vaunted security measures.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:59 am
LMAO @ Trent and what you said to Patches………so true hon, he posted it AFTER the jump so you had to click on it Patches…….good grief, do you also stare at the tv and complain when you see something you don’t like but you don’t change the channel? ugh…..some people’s children…..
February 20th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Kate Winslet totally deserves the win…she is amazing!! Heath Ledger is a given… but I really hope that the supporting actress is wrong… Penelope Cruz was fantastic in Vicky Christina Barcelona and deserves a win for that… I think that sean penn should get the best actor… but it wouldn’t surprise me if Mickey Rourke wins… gotta love a comeback
February 20th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
I’m ok, as long as Heath, Wall*E, and Presto! win.
February 20th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
I have a seriously hard time believing this list of winners would end up being the winners. Let’s take for example Adapted Screenplay, Slumdog Millionaire has won it in every single awards show and now it supposedly loses it. I don’t think so. The same goes to best soundtrack.
February 20th, 2009 at 2:29 pm
I think it’s fake. If you look at the actual picture of the Oscar statue on the letter it’s elbows are sticking out more than on the actual scar statue itself. Plus Mickey can’t win- overrated.
February 20th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
It’s fake. The way the ballots are counted and the results tallied, the only people who know are the guys from the accounting firm of Whomever and Whatever. Good guesses, though…
February 20th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
Well here’s the thing:
Whether this is fake or not, the Academy has been ominously silent about it.
I think this is the kind of thing they would try to head off either way.
If they’re trying NOT to draw attention to it, makes you wonder why…?
If it was fake they would have said something about it.
If it’s real, then they can’t very well say its not, and then have all the winners come out EXACTLY as posted here.
Clearly the Academy is in a sticky spot.
February 20th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Sid Ganis doesn’t know who the winners are — the votes are counted by a 3rd party (accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers). And, other than Best Picture, awards go to people, not films – so the categories on the lower part of the page list the film & then the person in parentheses, as if an afterthought. Totally fake.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
There are no listings for the Live Action and Animated Short Subjects.
Somehow, I doubt the “official” list of winners (if such a thing existed) would leave out two categories completely.
February 20th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
Oops, I take it back. Still, I don’t think this is real.
February 21st, 2009 at 5:12 pm
True or Not…I know Kate Winslet will win. She is the best actress working today. Meryl is so far from her.
February 22nd, 2009 at 5:48 pm
now we all know its fake!
February 22nd, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Well–this list is clearly a fraud–Penelope Cruz just won for Best Supporting Actress, so no need to even worry about it.
February 22nd, 2009 at 6:03 pm
It’s do wrong awards have Bern handed out and did not go to the sheet said
February 22nd, 2009 at 6:12 pm
So not real, since Amy didn’t win.
I’m still having a fun time watching though!!
February 22nd, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Further proof that the list is wrong, “Benjamin Button” just won Art Direction. And the “Duchess” won for Costume Design. Thank goodnes, I was annoyed that Amy Adams was projected to win Best Supporting Actress. Go Penelope!
February 23rd, 2009 at 8:55 am
This shyt was fake! haha hehe haha ho
