‘Confessions’ Is Good For The Soul
Last night, David and I had intended on seeing Friday the 13th and even pre-purchased our tickets to see the 8:25PM showing at the ArcLight in Sherman Oaks, CA (since the Hollywood location wasn’t showing it) but had to settle on seeing something else. I had miscalculated how long it would take to get from WeHo back to the Valley and we just made it to the theater on time … and then had to deal with a 25 minute parking ordeal :( We ended up seeing Confessions of a Shopaholic at 10 and grabbed a bite to eat in the meantime:

I never read the books that the movie is based on but I really did enjoy the flick. It’s kinda like Sex and the City meets Legally Blonde with a little bit of Devil Wears Prada thrown in. If you liked any of those movies, you’ll prolly dig Confessions. The clothes in the film are really fabulous … watching the movie made me want to go shopping much the same way that seeing Sex and the City did last summer. The only thing that creeped me out was the talking mannequins (see the film and you’ll know what I’m talking about). I’m pretty sure those scary things would even scare Jason Vorhees :)
Earlier today, David and I went back to my old apartment to turn in the keys (which are due tomorrow) and to sell my refrigerator to a guy I dealed with on Craig’s List. My fridge is practically brand new and the guy got a great deal. I said my final good-bye’s to my old building manager and that was that. David and I just returned from a fab lunch at Vitello’s in Studio City and voila!
We don’t have any big plans for tonight … our 3 year anniversary is next Tuesday so we’re saving our hoopla for then. Just a quiet dinner and … some alone time, I think :)

AW! You missed Friday the 13th!? That totally sucks. I saw it last night and thought it was AMAZING. I was really looking forward to your review today but you must give it ASAP when you do watch it. I thought it was really scary, and, of course, cheesy just like the older series but overall it was really good. I screamed at a few parts. Way better than My Bloody Valentine.

I felt the same way about the mannequins! It was a little too weird and corny for me, but I LOVED the movie. I want all her clothes, and I can’t believe they didn’t let her take any :(

congrats, trent! and yeah.. i loved shopaholic. its actually not quite like the books.. becoz they pretty much squeezed three books into one movie… just taking bits and pieces here and there… but its okay. im a big fan of the books, and i still loved the movie. =)

Aww man, I was really looking forward to your take on Friday the 13th. I, too, saw it last night and highly enjoyed it–except for the jackasses who sat behind me and felt free to talk the ENTIRE time–they didn’t even bother to whisper by the end of the film. It definitely makes you jump, Jason is kickass, there’s tons of creative killing going on (which is my opinion really sets the Friday the 13th movie series apart from the rest of the slasher flicks), and naturally there’s tons of sex, booze, tits, and weed. A true slasher film indeed.

I was at the 835 showing last night! It was really cute, different from the books in some parts, but I agree, I could’ve done w/o the talking mannequins.

Trent, I hope you and David share a great many years in love and full of love… Happy Belated Valentine’s day from a fan in Iraq…

Yeah, the manequins were TOTALLY creepy!!
The movie was okay, if you have no knowledge of the books – but seriously – the books are WAY better and the movie, sadly, doesn’t even hold a candle to them. Little bit dissapointing, to say the least. First of all, the protagonist, Rebecca Bloomwood – is BRITISH, lives in LONDON – is NOT American! But for whatever reason, I guess they thought they needed to change to change that, maybe in their minds to broaden the appeal to US citizens…but whatat a waste that was, I mean come on – Bridget Jones was a HUGE hit and they didn’t turn THAT character into an American! WTF? Couldn’t Isla Fischer do a British Accent like Renee Zelwegger? So lame….

WOWww 3 years anniversary?! Congrats to you guys!!
ouuh that means I’ve been reading your blog for 3 yrs! Time flies when u’re having fun huh? ;)

the sad thing is that isla Fisher is actually Australian and so could probably easily do a british accent =)
I haven’t seen it yet, but I am such a huge fan of the books that I think I will be thoroughly dissapointed.

I was going to avoid the movie b/c I thought the book was kind of annoying (I don’t have too much patience for people who spend waaaay beyond their means and max out their credit cards) … but maybe I’ll check it out. I did love Sex in the City and Devil Wears Prada …
