Blake Fielder-Civil Is A Free Man

His mum was there to collect him, Amy Winehouse stayed in St. Lucia
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Amy Winehouse’s soon-to-be ex-hubby Blake Fielder-Civil was released from incarceration today after finally completing his sentence after he was convicted of attempting to pervert justice in the UK. As you may recall, Blake was released for a short time late last year when he was transferred to a drug rehab half-way house but after he was found with drugs in his possession he got sent back to jail … as a result, Amy decided to divorce him (then hook up with a hottie) … and then she escaped to the Caribbean where she’s remained for the past couple of months. Here are a couple pics of a joyous Blake being collected by his mother upon his release this morning:

BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL is hugged by his mum GEORGETTE as he leaves jail for good. The estranged husband of AMY WINEHOUSE was freed from Edmunds Hill Prison in Suffolk at 10am this morning. Georgette greeted her son by putting his trademark trilby hat back on his head. The pair then walked arm-in-arm to the prison car park where a silver BMW was waiting to take them away. Blake was jailed for 27 months last July for assaulting a pub landlord and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was freed into rehab last November, but was sent back to jail to complete his sentence a month later after failing a drugs test.

Here’s hoping the chap has learned his lesson about attempting to pervert justice and decides to really clean up his act. It would appear that Amy is serious about divorcing Blake as she made no attempt to be anywhere near his vicinity as he got released from jail. I seem to recall that Amy was very vocal about her displeasure at having her husband go to prison for his crimes (remember that big red heart thing that read Blake she had tacked to her beehive for weeks after his incarceration?) but no longer … these days, she’s more interested in nekkid Scrabble, smokin’ various things and random horseback rides. In the end, I think it’s for the best that the couple remain apart. Perhaps this can be a new beginning for both of them. I guess we’ll see.

‘The Real Housewives Of Orange County’s Slade Smiley Is Busted!

Homeskillet failed to pay his child support
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Slade Smiley, who featured in the first 3 seasons of the Bravo reality TV series The Real Housewives of Orange County, was recently arrested for failing to pay his child support. Now, I realize that a great many of you prolly don’t even know who this reality TV nobody is but I’ve been in a Real Housewives way lately and his arrest seems very timely. Here is Slade’s very un-smiley mugshot:

The law is frowning upon Slade Smiley. The former Real Housewives of Orange County beau was arrested Friday on an outstanding warrant for civil contempt after allegedly falling behind on his child-support payments and other court-related fees. Smiley, who footed the bill for the O.C. lifestyle that Jo De La Rosa once enjoyed on Housewives, was released later that night after posting $10,000 bail. “We became aware that there was a warrant in the system for him and a possible location he was at,” Costa Mesa Police Department Lt. Clay Epperson told E! News Monday. “We went out there, he identified himself, submitted to an arrest without any problem, and he was booked into our jail for civil contempt.” Smiley said today in a statement released by his rep that this incident means nothing as far as how he feels about his kids. “This is an unfortunate situation that has occurred,” Smiley said. “My son is very ill and we have been working on resolving the issue of support versus his enormous medical bills with the appropriate agencies for several months now. It is sad that individuals would take advantage of the situation in an attempt to defame and discredit me in such a public manner. For those who know me, there is nothing more important than my children.” Smiley has two sons, Grayson and Gavin, from two previous relationships. The businessman moved, along with De La Rosa, from Housewives to the Bravo matchmaking series Date My Ex: Jo and Slade, in which Smiley roomed with a batch of potential love interests for his former live-in girlfriend.

For his part, Slade maintaining his innocence based on his ignorance that he wasn’t even aware that he was behind on child support payments … which is a lame excuse but I suppose is believable. Yeah, I’m not all that interested in Smiley’s arrest … but man, that reunion of The Real Housewives of Orange County that aired last night as AMAZING! It was truly the best reunion of any Housewives series ever (tho, most of them are really damn fun to watch). I suppose it’s to be expected that someone from this batch of reality TV “stars” would be arrested … I honestly thought it would’ve been one of the horrible OC children. I predict that we may see more mugshots from these folks in the future. So … did any of y’all watch the Housewives Reunion last night? What did y’all think?

Lily Allen Does ‘Q’ Magazine

Meow!
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Popstress Lily Allen is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Q magazine with few beautiful panthers to share the spotlight. At first, I guessed that Lily was merely posing with totally Photoshopped panthers but behind-the-scenes photos show that there were real life panthers on set with her. So cool. Here is Lily’s cover and a portion of her coverstory interview with the mag:

Lily Allen stripped off for her riskiest photoshoot yet as she posed topless beside two ferocious panthers. Wearing nothing but a pair of diamond-squared hotpants, opaque tights and platform heels, the Smile singer appears to show none of ‘The Fear’ she sings about in her latest single. The sexy shoot for Q magazine took place last month, just hours after the 23-year-old singer jetted in from the Caribbean … While the singer appears brave (and perhaps a little insane) to be standing so close to the predatory animals, it turns out Lily was not put at risk and the big cats were simply digitally added in. In another fun shot, it looks like Lily is taking to the dancefloor with three panthers as she shimmies in between them in a purple fringed dress. Shot by photographer John Wright, Lily poses in a series of skimpy outfits with her newfound friends from Buckinghamshire’s Amazing Animals, who were handled by experienced trainers during the challenging shoot. In the accompanying interview, Lily discusses the new ‘hunk’ in her life, Audio Bullys DJ Tom Dinsdale, despite being photographed with Jopling just days earlier. The interviewer even claims Lily French kisses Dinsdale in front of him. She tells the magazine: “The hunk in my kitchen… Well, he’s hot. He’s cute, isn’t he? I had a sleep-over two nights ago and he came along.” In the interview, Lily also admits she is in regular contact with ex-boyfriend Ed Simons, who she split from in January last year after a five-month relationship. The couple ended their relationship shortly after Lily suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage. She explained: “We still speak two times a week, he texts me all the time, making sure I’m all right. We never were not friends, it just became difficult. Because there was so much pain associated with everything that happened, for me I just needed to get away. But we still love each other. And we talk all the time and maybe one day we’ll get back together. But I don’t know. Not right now.” She also tells the magazines she has visited several lapdancing clubs, despite finding them “embarrassing”.

I really love this Q photospread and I am really loving Lily Allen these days. While I kinda liked her debut album, Alright, Still, I am TOTALLY enraptured by her new album It’s Not Me, It’s You. I can listen to her hit single The Fear on repeat for days … tho, I don’t cuz I don’t want David to leave me. After the jump, check out a larger version of Lily’s Q mag coverphoto and another photo of her dancing with some of her new panther friends …

Adnan Ghalib Charged With Three Felonies

Dude tried to run over a process server with his Mercedes, pleads "not guilty"
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Adnan Ghalib, the former paparazzo-turned-Britney Spears leech, is being charged with three felony assault charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest after allegations that he ran into a process server who was trying to serve him with legal papers last week. You may recall that Papa Jamie Spears, as Britney’s conservator, petitioned and won from the court a temporary restraining order against Ghalib and the equally slimy Osama Sam LutfiGhalib allegedly used his Mercedes to take out his frustrations on the innocent process server who was trying to serve him with paperwork:

An arrest warrant has been issued for Britney Spears’s paparazzo ex-boyfriend to face felony charges of trying to avoid a process server – with the help of some German engineering. According to L.A. prosecutors, the victim was serving a temporary restraining order, obtained by Spears’s father, at Adnan Ghalib’s apartment complex in Encino on Feb. 11 when Ghalib got into his Mercedes and drove it toward the victim. To avoid being penned against a trash truck, the victim jumped on the hood and hung on as the car served, eventually falling off and breaking his wrist, among other injuries, the District Attorney alleges. Ghalib allegedly drove away without stopping. Ghalib was slapped Tuesday with three felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery, all worth up to seven years in prison if convicted. The charges include special allegations: use of a deadly weapon – a car – and great bodily injury. Prosecutors are asking bail be set at $110,000.

For his part, Ghalib maintains his innocence and has already turned himself in order to plead not guilty to the charges being leveled against him. After the jump, check out the legal paperwork filed that charges Ghalib with his felony charges and find out what Ghalib maintains as his innocence

Spider-Man Is REALLY Coming To Broadway

'Turn Off The Dark' will open in 2010
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Welp, it looks like that Spider-Man Broadway musical that folks have been talking about for the past year or so is finally gonna make its way to the Great White Way. Broadway World is reporting that the show, titled Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, will begin previews in January 2010 and will officially open in February 2010. A new official site for the show has also just launched. Here is our first look at the promo poster for the new show along with some info available right now on the show’s opening next year:

It is now official, SPIDER-MAN, Turn Off the Dark, will open on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Broadway’s Hilton Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street (preview performances will begin Saturday, January 16, 2010). Directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor with 22-time Grammy Award-winning Bono and The Edge creating new music and lyrics, SPIDER-MAN will be written by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger. SPIDER-MAN is produced by HELLO Entertainment/David Garfinkle, Martin McCallum, Marvel Entertainment/David Maisel, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Jeremiah Harris. SPIDER-MAN is produced in association with Omneity Entertainment/Richard Weinberg, the Mayerson/Gould/Hauser/Tysoe Group, Patricia Lambrecht and Jam Theatricals/S2BN Entertainment. Julie Taymor is best known as director of one of the most successful musicals in Broadway history, Disney’s The Lion King and the film Across The Universe. Bono and The Edge are half of one of the most popular rock bands of all time, U2, who will be making their Broadway debut with SPIDER-MAN. Drawing from over forty years of Marvel comic books for inspiration, SPIDER-MAN spins a new take on the mythic tale of a young man propelled from a modest rowhouse in Queens to the sky-scraping spire of the Chrysler Building, the bustling offices of the Daily Bugle, through the dizzying canyons of Manhattan, to new vistas never before seen. The musical follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down-literally-when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to his bedroom ceiling. This bullied science-geek-suddenly endowed with astonishing powers-soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility as villains test not only his physical strength but also his strength of character. Spider-Man’s battles will hurtle the audience through an origin story both recognizable and unexpected–yielding new characters as well as familiar faces–until a final surprising confrontation casts a startling new light on this hero’s journey. The principal creative and design team for SPIDER-MAN includes Daniel Ezralow, Choreographer (Across the Universe, The Green Bird); George Tsypin, Sets (The Magic Flute, The Little Mermaid); Eiko Ishioka, Costumes (Academy Award® for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Tony Award® nomination for M. Butterfly, the opening ceremonies for the Beijing Olympics); Donald Holder, Lighting (Tony® Awards for The Lion King, South Pacific); Jonathan Deans, Sound (Fosse, The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil, Young Frankenstein, Ragtime); and Teese Gohl, Musical Supervisor (Across the Universe, Frida). Additional members of the SPIDER-MAN creative team will be announced at a later date. Casting for SPIDER-MAN will be announced soon. Group tickets now on sale. Single tickets will go on sale June, 2009. For more information about group tickets, visit the Spider-Man website at www.SpidermanOnBroadway.com or by calling 1-800-Broadway.

See … I dunno what to think about this new show. On the one hand, I love Spider-Man and a part of me (the 12-year old part) thinks it might be cool to see a comic book superhero come to life on the musical theater stage. On the other hand, another part of me (the grown adult who has seen his fair share of horrible Broadway musicals) fears that a Broadway show based on Spider-Man might be a terribly, horrible idea. A cartoony thing like Shrek (which I haven’t seen and have no desire to see) at least has a whimsy about it that sorta makes sense as a Broadway show. I cannot for the life of me imagine a singing Spider-Man trying to muffle thru his lyrics with that mask over his mouth. What does Spider-Man have to sing about? Schmaltzy love songs about Mary Jane Watson, I suppose. I’m also worried that with Bono and The Edge behind the music there will be a lot of blaring guitars and such. I’ve been able to preview the new U2 album just leaked to the Internets … I’m not impressed. I fear they won’t impress me with Spider-Man songs either. I AM VERY relieved to know that the amazing Julie Taymor is directing. She did the impossible by bringing inventive genius life to the animated Lion King so that it could thrive on the Broadway stage. If anyone can make this work, it’s Julie Taymor. I’m curious … but concerned. What do ya’ll think … good idea or bad? Would you pay good money to see Spider-Man on Broadway?

Gluttony, Thy Name Is Pączki

The TV Guide
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I am happy to report that my mom’s recovery is coming along very nicely … she’s already left me home alone! Just a few days after her accident, my mom decided that she’s tired of beeing “cooped up” in the house so she asked my dad to take her out … and away they went. I am so happy that my mom is back in fine spirits. Altho the bruises around her eye, jaw and stitches are darkening, she really seems back to her old self — which is a huge relief. I’m really glad I could be home for her right now.

Last night, I spent some time hanging out with Sarah and Mark so that we could eat some pączki (pronounced poonch-ki) and pizza — in that order. For those of you who don’t know what pączkis are, they are Polish jelly-filled donuts that are traditionally eaten around here on Fat Tuesday, right before Lent (which is today, so Happy Lent, y’all!). They are DELICIOUS:

Pączkis are really big here in Detroit, where there is a large Polish population … it’s really a bummer that most people don’t know what they are. For dessert, we ate more pączkis … yes, we’re gross ;)

For the most part, we just hung out and watched TV … nothing special, just fun. Tonight, I’m meeting up with Tracey and Zakiya for a quick bite to eat cuz I’m flying back home to LA tomorrow afternoon. My time here in Detroit is flying by but being able to be with my mom for a few days was totally worth it. Again, thank you all for your very sweet messages of support for my moms. She is very touched that so many people who don’t even know her are sending her good, healing vibes. Thank you all again :)
