Rihanna Issues A Public Statement, Surfaces In LA

After weeks of silence, Rihanna finally speaks out
Friday, February 20th, 2009

Rihanna is finally speaking out publicly in the wake of the alleged assault she suffered at the hands of her boyfriend Chris Brown in the early morning hours of Sunday February 8. Additionally, Rihanna has surfaced here in LA for the first time since the incident. Here is the new pic of Rihanna here in SoCal last night and the full text of her just released statement, by way of her publicist, on the matter of her recent injuries:

“At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown. She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time.”

As all of you are well aware, this statement comes one day after TMZ saw fit to publish a photo of Rihanna’s injuries that was reportedly taken at the time of the incident that occurred on Feb 8 … today is also the girl’s 21st birthday. My heart just breaks at the thought of everything she has been going thru in the past couple of weeks … I’m glad she knows that so many of us are sending her all of our love and support. I am confident she will be able to one day get her life back to normal … or as normal as can be after enduring what she’s been thru. We love you Rihanna, stay strong!!!

The ‘Twilight’ Sequel ‘New Moon’ Gets A New Title Logo

Also gets an amended/extended title
Friday, February 20th, 2009

Here is your semi-daily Twilight sequel update you vampire lovers out there! Here is our first look at the new title artwork for the upcoming sequel New Moon which is due to hit theaters this November. Additionally, the MTV Movies Blog informs us that the title of the film has been changed a wee bit to fit in with movie studio’s plans to put together a franchise of movies based on the book series of the Twilight saga:

As Juliet once said to Romeo: A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Now, modern-day star crossed lovers Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are getting ready to carry on with their cinematic love affair. But will the second “Twilight” movie smell as sweet now that it has a brand-new name? MTV News has the scoop on the official name and logo for Chris Weitz’s soon-to-film sequel to “Twilight.” Dubbed “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” (although the title treatment leaves off the “’s”) the film’s official title art stays true to the look of the first movie while swapping in an orange tint, a subtle crescent moon, and the release date of 11.20.09. Although the look of the new logo will undoubtedly get Twilighter tongues wagging, it’s the five-word official title that is the most prominent variation from Stephenie Meyer’s simple “New Moon.” With roman numerals now considered taboo in Hollywood, and sequel names like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” and “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” in vogue, it makes sense that Weitz and crew would label the future films as “The Twilight Saga.” At the risk of reading too much into five words, it also seems to imply that “New Moon” will boast a more epic feel than the first movie. As for the logo itself, Weitz has chosen to stay with the lowercase lettering, personable font and light-streaks-poking-through look of last year’s hit film. In switching from blue to orange, the movie’s upcoming posters will be instantly distinguishable from those of the original “Twilight” – which should make them look a whole lot cooler when teenage girls all over the world add them to their walls. The presence of orange also begs a new question: Now that blue and orange are taken, which colors should be used for “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”? It’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year. It’s the next installment in a worldwide phenomenon. And now, it’s called “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon.”

Honestly, the title artwork looks pretty standard to me. There isn’t anything particularly special about it … but, in an effort to post every minute and minuscule bit of marginally interesting info on New Moon, here you go. Personally, I think it’s absolutely unnecessary to make the title so long … New Moon sounds just fine. But, I guess the movie studio wants to differentiate the movie from the book … and also remind fans that the movie franchise is here to stay. The artwork is fine but the name is too long. No one is gonna call it by this title. What do y’all think … do you like the logo/new name?

Christian Siriano Presents His Fall 2009 Collection

Sew fabulous
Friday, February 20th, 2009

Project Runway Season 4 winner Christian Siriano presented his Fall 2009 Collection at The Salon in Bryant Park for NY Fashion Week last night and managed to showcase a fairly stunning collection of designs. While many of us are mourning the lack of real Project Runway-ness this NY Fashion Week, we can take heart that one of its former winners is still in the biz of creating and showing fabulous clothing designs. Here are a few of Christian’s pieces and some commentary from the New York Post:

Christian Siriano is all about skinny legs and cool, voluminous pieces. His coats had all kinds of interesting billowy, stacked, winged and sculpted sleeves. In fact, these kinds of fabric manipulations were seen throughout the collection on blouses, skirts and dresses to much success. This designer has grown an incredible amount since his “Project Runway” win just a year ago. His work has gone from kitschy and costume-y to actually fashionable, particularly in the latter half of his collection, which featured floaty dresses and gowns we wouldn’t be surprised to see on a red carpet soon. It seems Siriano still has the Bravo mantle to carry. His audience was loaded with former “Project Runway” contestants (aka losers) and Countess LuAnn Shopsalot, or whatever her purchased name is, from “The Real Housewives of New York.” Tori Spelling, who provided the jewelry for the show, was also holding court.

Oh yeah, the boy’s got talent … it’s crazy how much creativity and style Christian’s design aesthetic entails. While I must admit that early on during his season of Project Runway Christian (and his antics in particular) rubbed me the wrong way, I really came to see the genius in his talent. He absolutely deserved to win his season of the show and his continuing body of work just proves how much of an exciting designer he really is. After the jump, check out a few more of his Fall ‘09 pieces as well as video of his entire collection making its way down the runway at NY Fashion Week last night …

The ‘Project Runway’ Season 6 Finale Fashion Show

See what you won't see on TV anytime soon
Friday, February 20th, 2009

Earlier today, we learned from Heidi Klum that the 6th season of her competitive reality TV series Project Runway is in a place of limbo since legal matters are keeping the show off the air. That said, the 6th season was still filmed and the Finale Fashion Show took place inside The Tent at Bryant Park to close out NY Fashion Week earlier today. Here are a few photos of Heidi and her PR cohorts Nina Garcia, Tim Gunn and Michael Kors at this morning’s Project Runway Season 6 Finale Fashion Show:

Whoa! Open-mouth kissing between Heidi and Tim!

What the heck is going on there you two?! HMMM??? Because the show was taped for eventual air (hopefully), the final 3 designers were not allowed to come out on stage to show their faces … their final collections had to do all the talking for them. And so … I’ve selected a few pieces from the show to post behind the cut for those of you interested in taking a peek. After all, who knows how long we’re gonna have to wait to see the show on TV. After the jump, check out some pieces from this morning’s PR Finale show

Scary Movie

The TV Guide
Friday, February 20th, 2009

Last night, David and I were invited by our friends at Lions Gate Films for an early preview screening of their upcoming new movie The Haunting in Connecticut

… which I cannot really talk about just yet since the movie is still over a month away from release. I will say that I *really* loved the film and cannot wait to write up a proper review of the film once it gets released on March 27 :)

After the screening, we met up with Mike and Jordan for drinks at O Bar and had a great time catching up. It had been ages since I’ve been able to see either of them so a good time was had by all. For the most part, it was a pretty quiet night.

David and I are in the home stretch of putting the final touches on our place. Since we are planning on having a small gathering here at our place this Sunday, it has to be done by then … I’m pretty sure that we will be doing nothing but work on our home for the next couple of days.

The temps here in SoCal are getting back into the 70s, where they belong, so it looks like it’s gonna be a nice, sunshine day. I hope all y’all are having a great day today as well … happy almost weekend!
