Has The Winners List For This Year’s Academy Awards Leaked?

Take this info with a HUGE grain of salt
Thursday, February 19th, 2009

So … a mysterious email made its way to my inbox from an anonymous sender that came with an interesting document attached to it — a supposed scan of the winners list of this year’s Academy Awards. Now, I don’t buy that this list is actually genuine … but, in this day and age of leaks and spoilers, I guess you can never be too sure of anything:

Just in case this list turns out to be the real thing, I’ll keep the spoilery info behind the cut. After the jump, check out this supposed leaked document that lists the winners of the 81st annual Academy Awards

The 2009 Brit Awards Are Handed Out

Duffy & Kings of Leon clean up; Coldplay shut out
Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Duffy and Kings of Leon were the big winners at the 2009 Brit Awards which were held at Earls Court in London, England last night bringing home a total of five awards between them. Coldplay, who were nominated for 4 awards, were the Brangelina of the awards show as they went home empty-handed. Sad. In happy news, Kylie Minogue played host to the Brits last night and, I understand, managed to do a pretty nice job … and also managed to show off 6 different outfits thruout the night … as should be expected from any respectable fashionista. Here are a few pics of some of the Brit award winners last night and some info on what went down last night:

Soul singer Duffy and US rockers King of Leon have triumphed at the Brit awards in London, taking five prizes between them in the biggest night of the year for British music. Elbow were named best British group, beating Coldplay whom they will support during a North American tour this year, while former The Jam front man Paul Weller was crowned best male solo artist. Rapper Kanye West was named best international male solo artist, Katy Perry won best international female solo artist and Iron Maiden — currently on a world tour — were crowned best British live act. Welsh singer-songwriter Duffy was close to tears as she accepted the award for best British album for “Rockferry”, the biggest selling debut album in the world last year and the winner of a Grammy earlier this month. “I can’t tell you what this means after five years, thank you so much,” the 24-year-old said. She was also named best British female solo artist and British breakthrough act, while Bernard Butler won the award for best British producer of the year for his work on “Rockferry”. Kings of Lean frontman Caleb Followill paid tribute to his British following as he received gongs for best international album for “Only by the Night” and best international group. The singer, whose band has enjoyed much greater success in Europe and Australia than in their native United States, said: “If it were not for England, Kings of Leon would not be a band… You created Kings of Leon, so good luck getting rid of us” … Pop group Girls Aloud won the award for best British single for “The Promise”, which was chosen by a live public vote on the night, prompting delighted bandmember Sarah Harding to exclaim: “It’s about time!” Girls Aloud, Duffy, Kings of Leon and boy band Take That all performed live, with Take That descending on the stage in a cloud of smoke and green lights to screams from adoring fans in the audience. Also on stage were the Pet Shop Boys, who won the Brit for outstanding contribution to music. Joined by Lady GaGa and Brandon Flowers from the Killers, they performed a medley of their best-known hits from “West End Girls” to “Always on My Mind”. Coldplay left empty-handed despite being nominated for four awards, apparently cold-shouldered by their home fans despite winning three Grammys this year.

HMMM … a shut-out for Coldplay. Could this be the beginning of the end for them? I am glad to hear that Duffy won so many awards. She is such a talent, I’m really pleased to know that real musicianship still matters at these award shows. I have yet to jump on the Kings of Leon bandwagon but I understand they are very popular with the kids these days. I might have to get their album to see what all the hubbub is about. While I wasn’t able to watch the Brit Awards myself, I did manage to watch a few of the live performances online. The Pet Shop Boys/Lady Gaga/Killers collabo was really very fun. After the jump, check out the mash-up performance of all of their biggest hits …

Vicki B. Talks To ‘New York’ Magazine

The Posh one speaks on matters of fashion design
Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Yesterday we saw photos of Vicki B. as she breezed her way thru NYC to make a brief appearance at NY Fashion Week before packing up her shizz and headin’ home to be with her children. Altho VB didn’t make too much of a splash in NYC this week, she did take some time to sit down with New York magazine’s fashion director Harriet Mays Powell about her latest collection of dVb dresses. Here are a few screencaps from this new interview:

Victoria Beckham sat down with Harriet Mays Powell to talk about her new line — when she says that seeing her designs on a rack next to YSL is “more exciting than having a huge album,” we totally understand. She also introduces us to “Sucky, Sucky” dress and claims to do the dishes in a gold minidress. See? Posh is fun!

Wonder of wonders, the interview actually proves that VB is kinda, sorta human. After the jump, watch the clip in full …

Another thrilling season of Dancing with the Stars is nearly upon us and just weeks after the list of celebrity contestants who have signed on to compete for the Dancing with the Stars Championship title we get our first look at the promo photos of all of the contestants paired up with their professional partners. As I’ve mentioned in seasons past, I am not a fan of the show … but I do tend to have a favorite or two that I tend to root for on the sidelines. This time around, I’m throwing all my support around the fabulous Lil’ Kim:

Kim is paired up with professional dancer Derek Hough … and they will face 12 other pairs of contestants when the next season of Dancing with the Stars hits the airwaves next month. After the jump, check out the rest of the promo pics of this seasons stars and their professional dancing partners …

Suri Holmes Cruise Rules The Magic Kingdom

Celeb kids don't have to wish upon a star
Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Suri Holmes-Cruise became a princess for a day this week when her parents, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, took her to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida and let her loose upon the park. Little Suri was allowed access to all of the Disney characters who were clamoring over one another to have their photo taken with the little robot. Here are a few pics of the Holmes-Cruises (including Connor Kidman-Cruise) as they enjoyed all the wonders that the Magic Kingdom has to offer:

Being the daughter of one of Hollywood’s most well paid actors certainly has its perks. And toddler Suri Cruise was enjoying the benefits of it during a family trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. The two-year-old, who was dressed as a princess for the occasion, looked to be having a magical time as she was treated to a very personal meet and greet with her heroes Mickey and Minnie Mouse while her doting parents Tom Cruise, 46, and Katie Holmes, 30, looked on. The Cruise family skipped the queues at the theme park and spent time with a number of characters including Cinderella – much to Suri’s delight. The toddler, who has become something of a fashionista despite her tender years, looked adorable in a blue ball gown and bare feet and was all smiles during the trip which was a Valentines Day surprise for her and her mother from film star Tom. Katie opted for a more casual look for the occasion and was sporting a striped top and jeans. Before the trip Cruise admitted that he had some special treats up his sleeve for his 30-year-old wife and would provide “a lot of surprises for her throughout the day.”

Aww, so precious. It really looks like Suri had a great time. I understand the only snafu came when the family rode the It’s A Small World ride and Suri got lost amongst the other animatronic children. Because it was very difficult to find Suri in the midst of all the other adorable little robots, they had to shut down the ride to find the little doll. I believe she was found hiding amongst the Tahitian robots. In any event, it appears that the entire family had a great visit to Disney World … clearly evident from the smiles on all of their faces. See, even robots need to vacation every once-in-a-while.

4 Friends + ‘Coraline’ In 3D = 2 Much Fun For 1 Night

The TV Guide
Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Last night I met up with my friends Kirsten, Amber and Adam for a fun night at the movies so that we could all see Coraline in 3D. I was able to see the movie on opening night but neither Kiki, Amber or Adam had been able to see the film just yet so I INSISTED that we all go and see it before it is no longer available to be seen in 3D. Here is a fun, yet dark pic of the four of us with our fun 3D glasses on:

The movie was just as much fun as the first time I saw it and I really must implore YOU ALL to see this film in 3D while you still can. Once the Jonas Bros. movie opens in theaters, Coraline will no longer be shown in 3D … trust me, this is one film you cannot miss seeing in 3D.

Oh, and I suppose I should expect some good-natured ribbing for the Michael Jackson-esque Diesel jacket I wore last night … especially in light of the Kanye West post I published earlier today ;) Trust me, my jacket looks much flier in person :) Flame on!!

Tonight, David and I are going to a screening in Santa Monica and then we’re meeting up with my friend Mike for drinks afterward. I am very happy to report that the sun has returned to SoCal … and it is glorious! I need to get out there and soak it up.

PS: I have to give a HUGE shout-out of LOVE to my old HP laptop which I abandoned about a year and a half ago when I purchased a shiny new Sony VAIO … because my Sony got effed up really bad last night (making it unusable) I’ve had to resort to using my old laptop to get work done today. Thanks to its resilience and the ability of the Firefox add-on Foxmarks to emulate my bookmarks on all of my computers, I have been able to function completely today. I just wanted to mention this as a lesson to all y’all. It makes REAL SENSE to back up your information on multiple computers and to HANG ON to your old comps if you get new ones. My good ol’ computer (that I named Chloe after the character on 24) saved my ass today and will continue to save my ass until I fix my new computer. Back-up your shizz, y’all … trust me, it comes in handy sometimes.
