The cult classic film Donnie Darko was the world’s first real introduction to Jake Gyllenhaal as a grown-up actor back in 2001 and later on this year, Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick will make his straight-to-DVD movie debut in the film’s follow-up S. Darko. Here are a few photos of Ed on the set of S. Darko last summer along with some synopsis info on the sequel from IMDB:

S. Darko takes place in the summer of 1995, seven years after the original film. It follows Donnie Darko’s younger sister, Samantha (Daveigh Chase), who, in the wake of his death, has found herself at age 17 with a broken family, mired in feelings of insignificance. She and her best friend Corey (Evigan) set off on a road trip to Hollywood in a bid to ‘make it big’, but their journey is cut short when their car breaks down unexpectedly, leaving them stranded in a small desert town. When a meteorite happens to crash-land nearby, Samantha is plagued by bizarre visions telling of the universe’s end and it appears that their breakdown was part of some grander plan. When she finds out she was actually adopted by the Darkos, and that she is in no way related to Donnie, she must face her own demons and, in doing so, save the world and herself.

I have watched Donnie Darko at least half a dozen times and I STILL cannot tell you what the hell the movie is about. All I know is that I tend to get a new piece of understanding with each viewing … I’m hoping to have that movie’s plot figured out sometime in the next 45 viewings. Earlier today a ridic rumor began to be reported that Lindsay Lohan had signed on to appear in the proposed remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. This afternoon, Lindsay’s reps are categorically denying that she has signed on to do any such thing:

Freddy Krueger won’t be getting his claws on Lindsay Lohan! A rep for Lindsay Lohan tells Life & Style the star is not set to film the upcoming remake of the horror flick “Nightmare on Elm Street.” “It’s not true, someone got Punk’d,” her rep tells Life & Style of the latest internet rumor floating around. Meanwhile, if you want to ask Lindsay herself, she’s in New York City all week attending fashion shows. Today she was spotted front and center at Charlotte Ronson’s fashion show!

Not that I have anything wrong with Lindsay Lohan possibly getting slaughtered by Freddy Krueger’s nine inch nails, but we only *just* heard about this proposed Elm Street remake and I doubt that someone as “big” as Lindsay would be attached to the project so soon. That’s not to say she may not get the gig at some point … at least now she knows they’re interested. In any event, I’m pretty sure that we will DEFFO be seeing more of Lindsay at various NY Fashion Week events over the coming week … wherever will L. Ron show up next?

Each year, for NY Fashion Week, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute hosts their annual Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Fashion Show which features designs from some of the hottest designers (both established and up-and-coming) being modeled on the runway by some of the most fashionable celebs on the scene … or just so happen to be available ;) Here are a few pics of some of the celebs who rocked their red dresses on the runway at this morning’s fashion show and some deets on this year’s event itself:

The annual Heart Truth Red Dress Collection, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute is arguably the feel-good moment of Fashion Week as a star-studded lineup of celebs and athletes strut their stuff on the runway wearing, natch, red dresses from top designers to promote heart health awareness among women. This morning’s joyous romp at the tent was no exception. A breathless Tim Gunn provided a welcome message, calling the Red Dress, “a sexy, passionate and powerful symbol,” noting that “being healthy never goes out of style.” And then wham . . . out came the 20 high-profile women who volunteered to take the walk down the runway for the cause. In the not-a-bit-shy department: Lynda Carter of “Wonder Woman” fame looked swell in a Carolina Herrera slither with one-shoulder bow, laughed and mugged her way down the runway. Vivica A. Fox worked it too wearing a glitzy sequined number from Jenny Packham. The crowd went nuts for charmer Cicely Tyson, though her dress by Michael B. — with sleeves on steroids –was an “Oy Vey” moment. Long Island’s own Susan Lucci was all-out glam in a goddess chiffon and sequin number by Gustavo Cadile. Newly slim Valerie Bertinelli won cheers in her Christian Siriano strapless job; Kristi Yamaguchi in fave Vera Wang and “Dancing With The Stars,” co-host Samantha Harris in jersey David Meister both got high scores for their animated runway glide. Hilary Duff was demure in Donna Karan’s languid body conscious gown. More restrained but still fab: an elegant Jennie Garth in Badgley Mischka, body beautiful Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, in sexy, short Max Azria and finale model Katie Couric, wearing a rhinestone strapped Carmen Marc Valvo, her signature wide smile and an aura that read, “What am I doing here? Get me Sarah or Sully.” Interested in frocks worn by one of these gals? Hello … where is the love for Amanda Bynes and Tori Spelling, for christsakes?! Tori looks AMAZING in her cute little number … she deffo looks much hotter and sexier than her 90210 cohort Jennie Garth (sorry Jennie). Amanda’s cute little red dress is also a stunner. It’s really great that these fashionistas are able to pair up with great designers (like Christian Siriano) for a fun event like this … that it’s all for charity only makes the event even more special. Joel and Benji Madden, of Good Charlotte, teamed up with Denny’s this week to collaborate on a specially created menu item that will be featured on the eatery’s Rockstar Menu. Here are a few photos of the Madden boys as they took over the Denny’s Rockstar Kitchen to craft their new menu item and a photo of the lads enjoying the fruits of their labor afterward:

Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte stopped by the unofficial “Rockstar” Denny’s yesterday in Los Angeles for some serious cooking. The guys spent the afternoon making four different burrito creations, all with vegetarian and vegan options, which will certainly whet everyone’s appetite. Aww … I love it. Trust me, I know how much the Madden guys love their burritos … I bet they had a great time concocting their own burrito recipes for others to enjoy on those late night visits to Denny’s. While many may scoff or turn up their noses as the notion of dining at Denny’s, I have to profess my lurve for the after hours eatery. I recall many a late night (and very early morning) spent at Denny’s after clubs close or parties end … there is no better place to sate your hunger after a long night of fun than at Denny’s. It may not be your first choice for a meal option but there are many times when it proves to be the best option when everything else is unavailable. I think it’s really fun that Joel, Benji and the other musicians have teamed up with Denny’s on a fun project like this. I’m not sure about you, but I’d be up for sampling a Madden burrito. Last week we saw the first photos (over two days) of Leighton Meester swapping spit with one of her male co-stars on the NYC set of Gossip Girl … and it looks like the fun continues on the set this week as well. Last night, David, Steph, Alek and I took our dear friend Kirsten out for a birthday dinner at CommeÇa in West Hollywood, CA to make up for missing her birthday shindig last week. It had been ages since we all got to hang out with Kiki so a great time was had by all:

Steph and Alek have been singing the praises of CommeÇa forever so we thought it would be a nice place to take Kirsten … and man, did we have an amazing meal. The food there is do DIE for, I highly recommend it if you’re in the area. The 5 of us spent a really nice time catching up with one another and celebrating Kirsten’s bday, twas very fun.

This afternoon, finally, we got word that David’s stuff from NYC is being delivered … by tonight, all of our stuff should be unloaded into our home :) It’ll be great to put the finishing touches on our settling down. This evening, David and I have decided to head out to see Friday the 13th … I am really excited.
