‘Wrestler’-mania
The TV Guide

Woot! I’m still pretty geeked on my big news … but with a looming move in the coming weeks, I’m also a bit stressed out too. I’m researching movers to help lessen the stress … I really, really hate moving so I’m trying to find a company that will do it all for me, which is the only way to move. I’ve found a couple of really good potential candidates but if any of y’all have any suggestions, please pass them along. I met with the real estate dude yesterday to drop off my checks for the new place so … come Feb. 1, it’s gonna be ours :)

To celebrate, I met up with Jim for dinner and movie last night but because of time constraints it turned out to be movie and then dinner. First up, we made our way to the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood to see The Wrestler:

Because I am a huge Darren Aronofsky fan, I have been really anxious to see this film for weeks now. Watching Mickey Rourke win the Golden Globe for his performance in the film put me over the edge, I had to see it as soon as possible. Man, what an amazing and powerful film. The stark realism in the movie was just really sad from beginning to end but the movie never takes the emotional exploitation too far. The film is a great commentary on how rough life can be for some people and even tho there seems to be no hope left, simple pleasures can make all the difference in the world. You empathize with Rourke‘s character, no doubt, but I felt such an affinity for Marisa Tomei‘s character as well. I’m shocked she isn’t gettin’ as much love from the critics … she really goes all out for her role and turns in an impeccable performance. She really is the unsung hero of this film. But Mickey Rourke, my gods, he really turns it on in this film … his performance is nothing short of powerful. He will deffo be a contender come Oscar time.

Much love goes out to the very able staff at the ArcLight … my dumbass left my wallet at the concession stand they took care of it for me. I freaked out when I realized I didn’t have my wallet (after the movie was over) and was relieved to know that they had it for me, safe and sound. I saw Kate Bosworth in the lobby with some friends but I was so freaked out about my wallet, I barely paid attention.

After the movie, Jim and I went to Birds for a late dinner and a couple of beers. While we were eating, Brea Grant who plays Daphne (Hiro‘s “nemesis” with superspeed) came over to our table to compliment me on Pink is the new Blog. It was very sweet of her to say hello and I’m sending my love out to her today.

Tonight, Darion, Kirsten and I are finally getting together to watch the Dollhouse screener I got last week … we are all very excited :)

I never heard anything about this movie until he won. Then it sounded like a random movie but now that I hear it is so good I will have to check it out. I love Brea’s character on Heroes! She is hilarious on the show.

  2. Tracy says:

The Wrestler is amazing. But the actor I think should be garnering praise is Evan Rachel Wood. She is fantastic in the movie.

  3. debho says:

I agree Trent…the only way to move is to have someone come in pack it all for you and haul it away.
As to the movie, I don’t know if I can watch it. I really have a hard time looking at Mickey…that face is just too much. lol

  4. Melissa says:

My husband and I have used Suddath twice to move. Once moving from England to the US and again when we relocated within the US. Both times we were very happy. They were very professional and reasonably priced.

Good luck with the move! I wish you and David many, many years of happiness and domestic bliss. I can imagine your housewarming party will be THE party of the year. :D

  5. Amy says:

Soooooo, did you and David actually buy it, where you can paint the walls and everything? Any painting you want to do should be done BEFORE the furniture arrives. I agree, use movers. I don’t live in California so I can’t suggest anyone for ya. Word of caution, pack all “personal items” yourself. There are just some things you might not want the moving guys to see ; P

  6. Elizabeth says:

Trent, I TOTALLY agree with you about Marisa Tomei not getting enough praise for this movie. She was wonderful in it (not to mention naked just about the entire time!) I felt my heart breaking for her when she was dancing at the end… but Mickey is just amazing. I so so hope that nothing but good things come out of this movie for him!

  7. Rose says:

It´s not Daron Aronofsky, it´s Darren! And you call yourself a big fan… tsk tsk tsk

  8. tatiana says:

Now I HAVE to go see this movie. This movie and Slumdog Millionaire.

  9. Selina says:

“But Mickey Rourke, my gods, SHE really turns it on…”
I had a good giggle at that typo, with Mickey’s long hair he’s got going on in the movie…

  10. jchu says:

    i love j’brea grant !

  11. las says:

Trent – my friend’s son who lives in LA just used “starving students” to move him – just a suggestion!

  12. Panti Christ says:

I am going to (finally) see this tonight! Yippeee!
