Watch Inauguration Video Of Obama, Biden Taking Their Oaths Of Office
MSNBC is generously providing video of the swearing in ceremonies of now President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for your viewing pleasure. At first, I thought that Obama nervously messed up the words of the oath of office but it turns out that it was Supreme Court Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. who messed up the oath and confused Obama who had memorized the words properly. Here is video of President Obama’s swearing in followed by his full 20-minute Inauguration Address:
Here is video of Vice President Joe Biden’s swearing in:
What a thrilling, thrilling day. All the ceremony, all the patriotism … today is a day that I will remember for the rest of my life.
Here are a couple screencaps of President & First Lady Obama with Vice President and Dr. Biden waving goodbye to the outgoing president and his wife:

What a scene! The New York Times reports that as GWB flew away the crowd below chanted, “Na Na Na Na/Na Na Na Na/Hey Hey Hey/Good-bye.” LOL!
And here is a shot of President Obama signing his first presidential act:

Just amazing how quickly everything happens. We’ve got a new President, y’all. How are YOU feeling today? What did you think of today’s Inauguration Events?

A bit of a correction. The Justice of the Supreme Court messed up the oath. Obama paused until he corrected it.
Obama voted against his nomination. Perhaps retribution?
It’s an historic day. I’m Canadian but even I cried when he was sworn in.
This is a great day, not just for the USA, but hope for the world!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:10 am
Finally!!!!!!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:12 am
this is how you get the year off to a good start =)
January 20th, 2009 at 10:20 am
I was pretty upset thinking that Obama messed up saying the oath. I am relieved to find out he memorized it and the other man messed it up. Yay Obama. What a proud moment!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:23 am
Even though I am Australian i am very proud that America now has a well spoken and intelligent president.
Team OBAMA!!!!!!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:26 am
Another Canadian who is feeling strangely touched and proud of all that America has accomplished and overcome – and WILL accomplish in the next four years – for this to have finally happened. YAY AMERICA THANK YOU for finally getting it right! It’s a special, happy day. :)
January 20th, 2009 at 10:28 am
I think it’s horrible and disrespectful for people to chant that as Bush left. Shows what kind of people voted for Obama. I can’t wait to see him fail.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:31 am
@matt….I can’t believe you said that. If you voted for him or not, why would you want YOUR COUNTRY TO FAIL?! Its nice to see what kind of person YOU are.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:34 am
Matt – I’m pretty sure that Democrats – ie: non-Republicans…..right? – were the “kind of people [who] voted for Obama”. You’re surprised that Obama supporters who attended the inauguration were glad to see a fuck-up of a Republican President sent off?
There’s just no reasoning with you “kind of people”. At least the majority made the right choice this time!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:38 am
Blanca, just because I want Obama to fail does not mean I want the country to fail. I believe his policies are wrong and I won’t those policies to fail to ensure the good of our country.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:40 am
Hey Heather, when Clinton left you didn’t see us acting like a bunch of neanderthals. Yeah Bush wasn’t the greatest but he kept us from being attacked on our own soil for many years. I’m happy about that.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:43 am
I agree with Matt – not about the failing, but about it being disrepectful. Like him or not, he was our President for 8 years. He should not be booed or disrespected as he leaves his office. That is just immature, rude, and really does show how idiotic people are. And the fact that you wrote LOL Trent says a lot.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:46 am
I agree with Tania, I think it was retribution as well, a very douchey thing to do…but it was a great moment to see him sworn in, his speech and I loved the benediction!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:48 am
I did not vote for Obama, but I am proud of his accomplishments, and I’m proud that kids have somebody to look up to rather than 50 cent. But the flagrant disrespect for Bush is really telling. I did not agree with Bush on a lot of things, but I always respected the office of president and him, just as I will do with Obama. Way to show some class and respect.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:56 am
About as classy and respectful as all of the McCain supporters that drowned him out with their booing anytime he mentioned Obama during his concession speech?
I guess it takes all types. I would frown upon outright booing or hateful words thrown towards former President Bush, but I don’t see anything wrong with the song.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:58 am
Finally, the 8 years of terror are over. We can all finally begin to rebuild our lives and this country.
I really respect PRESIDENT Obama for continually reminding us all that it will be a long road. But if EVERYONE works at it, we can rebuild our nation and take our place as a respectable and good nation.
Good bye SHRUB!!!!! Hopefully no one will pay any attention to you anymore.
January 20th, 2009 at 10:58 am
Well I was about to say how proud I was to be an American today, but then I see jackasses like the above (Matt) who say ignorant things… and then try to defend stupid statements by saying they don’t agree with with Obama’s policies!! What policies would that be? And why would you want them to fail? I would better understand if someone wanted change, but didn’t agree that Obama’s methods would work!! If you want the leader of our country to fail… then you want our country to fail!! And what a contridiction to think that it’s disrespectful to chant “Good-Bye” to Bush, while you wish failure to Obama our new President!! How are you any better? I’ll tell you… YOU’RE NOT!!!
January 20th, 2009 at 11:00 am
I sincerely hope that Obama EARNS my vote in 4 years. So far I believe he has been a creation of the media.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:01 am
Well Matt, if you really feel that way than I would say the only person it says a lot about is you. Do you need help packing your bags?
January 20th, 2009 at 11:05 am
I am very happy and proud to be an American today. I am hopeful that Obama will make a great president. He has shown focus and clarity and we should all wish him well.
It was very classy of him to mention Bush in his speech, just like it was classy when he hosted a dinner recently to honor John McCain. I even saw Pat Buchanan (of all people!) call him a class act. Let’s hope this graciousness helps to bring about a new era of cooperation.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:07 am
The policies i’m against are national healthcare. If you want insurance, get a job and buy it. I’m against closing Gitmo. I’m against taxing the rich to pay for entitlements for the poor. I don’t agree with another stimulus package. I don’t think we need to go another trillion or so in debt. That’s the policies I disagree with Naomiblack
January 20th, 2009 at 11:09 am
I am thrilled. GWB can SUCK IT. Peace the spork out george.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:12 am
Matt- Saying you want the President of the United States to fail, is saying you want your country to fail. Regardless of your personal opinions of his policy, if he fails, we fail. I did not agree with Bush’s policies, but i NEVER wanted him to fail.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Booing a candidate during a rally/convention is very different than that of booing a President/former President! I think its very un-American to do so.
I find it quite contrary that those who are always speaking out against the hatred they receive are full of just that, hate. Your “LOL” was very telling. I thought some people were better than that.
I voted for Obama because I want change. Not just change for equality for all, economic issues, world issues…etc. I voted for him because of the unity I hope he brings.
There are lots of hate filled people who can learn from the man they championed with the class he has shown today toward former President Bush.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:14 am
@Laura — yes, it says that I am glad that he is leaving office. a president does not deserve respect just because he is president (Nixon proved that fact). i see nothing wrong with people expressing their jubilation that GWB is no longer in office, not one bit.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:17 am
Mika – just a point, if your comment: “Booing a candidate during a rally/convention is very different than that of booing a President/former President!” was directed to my point about the boos for Obama during McCain’s concession speech – at that point, Obama was the chosen President Elect, not a candidate being booed during a rally or convention.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:18 am
I too hope his policies fail. I don’t agree with them, and that’s why I didn’t vote for him. It does not mean I hope the country fails, or that the country WILL fail. Our country is great DESPITE government, not because of government.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:18 am
@Mika — I don’t think it’s “un-American” to boo a president, especially when citizens feel that the person they entrusted to lead the nation did not keep up his end of the bargain. it is very American to voice one’s displeasure, exercising one’s freedom of speech is one of the most American things I can think of.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:21 am
Well said, Trent.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:24 am
High five to Blanca, Heather, and Trent!!!!
January 20th, 2009 at 11:36 am
You want to express your happiness that he’s gone then do it in your house, at a party, in your office, on the street. Not during a ceremony where is it completely uncalled for and disrespectful. You want to exercise freedom of speech, then do it in an intelligent way. Not singing a song like you’re a 10 year old who just won a game of dodgeball.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:36 am
High five for you too, Naomiblack!
January 20th, 2009 at 11:38 am
Laura Bush? Do you read this blog too? hahah
January 20th, 2009 at 11:39 am
“You want to express your happiness that he’s gone then do it in your house, at a party, in your office, on the street.” Orrrrr… in his personal blog? ;)
January 20th, 2009 at 11:42 am
I wasn’t talking about Trent I was talking about the morons singing Sha na na na – but thanks for playing, Heather.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:42 am
Is Biden’s son back from deployment?
January 20th, 2009 at 11:46 am
@Laura — actually, the chants were heard after the ceremony was over, after the speeches were finished while the helicopter carrying the Bushes away from the Capitol flew out of DC.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:46 am
Heather,
True that – President Elect. McCain showed Obama respect, just like Obama showed respect toward Bush today.
Trent,
Freedom of speech is very American, I agree. That’s what we are all doing right here. I’m just tired of all the vitriol and am very much looking forward to moving on. I disagreed with Bush’s policies in more ways than one. I just feel respect toward the POTUS (or former in this case) should be shown at such an event. Protests like that are where the “boos” and “yeas” should be. It just all seems very hate filled and it’s like pushing a square peg in a round hole. I think all the booing takes away from what Obama wants to do. I would rather hear reporting on what he wants to do rather than the reports of the crowds booing Bush. Let Bush ride off into the sunset. Be gone.
Obama got it right when he said, “”You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”
January 20th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Laura, you lumped Trent in with those “morons” by saying that his “LOL” was telling. If you know Trent at all (through reading his blog), that “LOL” shouldn’t come as a surprise to you.
Agree to disagree – you’ve got a new President as of noon today, and you can boo him, or sing at him in a jesting manner, or respectfully bite your tongue in 8 years when he’s replaced, if you want.
January 20th, 2009 at 11:56 am
Excellent point, Mika – thank you.
As for Heather – I wouldn’t boo him – I’m not 13. And you’re right he is an amazing President – the whole 3 hours in office have gone fantastic! Let’s just hope that all of this faith in Obama pays off.
This will be my last comment since I actually have a job, but I didn’t realize people could disagree on having respect for other people. I guess I wasn’t raised that way.
Good luck everyone!
January 20th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
“And you’re right he is an amazing President” – not that I don’t believe that he will do great things during his time as your President, but I never said he was “an amazing President”.
As for the rest of your comment. … Okay. *shrug*.
January 20th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!! And a giant welcome to the new President. I am so happy to have someone in this office who is intelligent, thoughtful, adaptive, judicious, rational, and believes that “we no longer need to sacrifice our ideals for our safety”. What a day.
And on the “respect” note, I have no respect for the former president, who let down his country and world so badly. You run for the office of the president, you better be damn prepared to lead. Bush used a moment of great national disaster to further his own evil agenda, and I will never respect him because of that.
January 20th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Did Obama ever supply his birth certificate as he was asked? Or did we just let a guy “in” without being FULLY sure he was absolutely born on U.S. soil?
January 20th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
wow Heather aren’t you classy…who sends an email for everyone to read with the word f*** in it…..NICE!
January 20th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Matt- you say you are against universal healthcare and other policies supported by President Obama. How about the dumbing down of society? How about labelling educated people as elitists? I guess that’s what you support. And the statement about keeping us safe after 9/11 is conservative propaganda. America wasn’t attacked for 8 years following the 1993 World Trade Center attack, and we all know what happened in 2001… So what is your point??
January 20th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
I’m aware when the chants were heard. I can read. Still inappropriate.
January 20th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
I really start to wonder why people want our president’s policies to fail. Although I disagree with many of acts and policies that Bush and his colleagues put into action, I wish they had worked. Does anyone really wish that the “War on Terrorism” had not been more successful and that the Middle East was not in a more peaceful state??? To those that “hope that Obama’s policies fail” I would like to remind you that it is your tax payer money that is being used to support our new president’s policies. If only for that reason, I would hope that you would wish him success in helping our country’s poor economic state turn around.
January 20th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Actually… I kinda of feel like a lot of people on here are disrespectful. I didn’t vote for Bush… because I wasn’t old enough to vote. But it would have been disrespectful to chant that during his speeches and what-not. I am not sure when the chants happened, I was at work and didn’t see any of it. I didn’t vote for Obama, because I don’t agree with him on a lot of things. But I will give Obama the chance to prove he deserves to be president. I am not going to judge him, before he has the chance to do anything. He could be awesome, or he could awful. No one knows yet, why can’t we just wait it out and see, then comment on him as president. Obviously not everyone voted for him, so not everyone agrees with him. Just because someone doesn’t agree with him, doesn’t make them dumb, or anything else.
Freedom of speech is a great thing, but people can express their selves in mature, respectful ways. Yes, it is fine to say “I am glad to see Bush gone” Because many people are. It is ok to say “I do not support Obama” because not everyone does. But please do it with respect to other people and their opinions. Not everyone is going to side with you, just respect those people and their opinions.
Also you shouldn’t lump all republicans together, nor all democrats. Just because they belong to the same party, don’t make them all the same.
January 20th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Hey Matt, as i recall on the night of the election. When McCain spoke of obama, everyone in the room boo’d. Just as disrespectful…..
January 20th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
I have mixed emotions….I am happy to have a black president……it goes to show that the U.S. has evolved a hell of a lot in 50 years. I for one didn’t think it would happen. yet. Although I didn’t vote for Obama, as I have different political views….he is my President. I am, always have been and always will be, PROUD TO BE an AMERICAN. No matter who is president. I am sick to my stomach, hearing all the horrid things people are saying, not only about Bush, but how they are NOW proud to be American. I say, go live in another country (and not canada or europe) and tell me how great it is. Ok, so there. JUST MY OPINION. :)
January 20th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
@A — I can understand when people say they are only now feeling American pride. Our nation is great but it is vast and for far too long a significant portion of the citizenry has felt underrepresented in the government. At this point, there is one ONE African American in the Senate. There was once a time in this country when African Americans were only counted as 3/5 of a person, they were actually property. Seeing an African American sworn in as the leader of the country is something to be very proud of, especially to those who felt they’d never see it happen in our times.
January 20th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
OBAMA! OBAMA!!
Hey, he’s a lefty! lol
January 20th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Has anyone ever stopped to think that this man has yet to prove anything to anyone of us, yet we are acting as if he has somehow saved us all? I always thought you had to prove yourself and earn respect before you got it. Anyone would have been better than Bush, really. Let’s get real here.
January 20th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
I’m tired of people saying he was born anywhere other than America. Jesus christ, do you honestly think that he would’ve become our president without us noticing his birthplace?
More bitter Republicans.
Wanting to see him fail is disgusting. I did not agree with Bush whatsoever, but if he failed, obviously we would all fail.
Whenever people speak of politics, I often notice the “dirty liberals” comments are far more spoken of then “nasty conservatives”.
EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD people are celebrating his election. From my mother’s Indonesian hometown, to everywhere across the world, people are happy. Any dumbass can see Bush has not done the best job, but blinded super-Republicans can’t see that.
January 20th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
A – I am one of the many who are only now proud to be an American. Obv only time will tell what Obama will do, but he seems to be a man of morals, and one who strives to work with those who think like him and differently from him.
I have been so ashamed of the many atrocities that the US has done all over the world., from supporting dictatorships to selling arms or using torture. My aunt can’t watch coverage of the Iraq war because it hits too close to home — the US attacked Panama under Bush I b/c they didn’t agree with their democratically elected leader. As you said, your opinion is yours, and other Americans have theirs — one great thing about our country is that we are able to freely express them.
And BTW, countries that are not Canada or in Europe are not necessarily the godforsaken lands that the media often portray them to be. I doubt that you have lived in every country other than Canada or those in Europe, so don’t infer that they are inferior to the U.S. I have only been to a couple, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil, and they have their problems, like any country, but they are also full of life and spirit.
January 20th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Becky,
You’re a moron.
:)
January 20th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I teared up when he was sworn in.
As a history major I can’t believe this day, and all of the historical signifigance.
TRULY AMAZING!!
January 20th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Today was a fantastic day. I am so proud to be an American. I have always been proud to be an American. I voted for Obama and I look forward to him getting to work and bringing our country together. This is a joyous time for us….I think the nasty comments/chants/whatever you want to call it towards Bush or anyone really just kind brings negativity to what otherwise is a happy, unified occasion. Yes, we as Americans have freedom of speech but the nastiness it just disheartening.
January 20th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
I have to say that I do like Obama a lot and am excited to see what he brings to our country. I just hope that people realize he is not perfect and he is going to make mistakes as well. He will not hold up his hand and make everything ok. I thought the chants and booing were completely disrespectful as well, and I am not a big fan of our former prez either. Maybe people will see how classy and respectful Obama is and take after him.
January 20th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Paz,
I was not making the comment that “countries that are not Canada or in Europe are not necessarily the godforsaken lands”. I know that a lot are great in thier own right. I have lived in Mexico (several years), Ireland, Russia, and my mother lives in Jamaica and I spend a lot of time there. I stand by my statement of “if you don’t like the US, go live somewhere else”. My point being, we have freedom of speach…. we call all say what we want, vote for who we want and we should still all be able to get along. My family (brothers and sisters, parents) are both dem. and rep. ….. makes for fun family dinners, LOL. but we all agree to disagree. I for one, am giving Obama a fair chance. I do not judge (at least not yet, it’s the mans first day!:)
January 20th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I just wanted to say that we watched the swearing in at the daycare I work at. My students cheered and clapped after each person spoke and when they announced that Barack Obama was now the 44th president of the US they all clapped and cheered and were so excited to witness such an amazing day in history. I even took pictures of us all enjoying the oaths :)
January 20th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
wow no matter what happens we were all alive to witness the first black president. what an election, white house politics will be forever changed.
January 20th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
and we didnt act like a bunch of neanderthals when clinton left cause despite the whole ‘monica’ scandal he really improved the state of the country.
January 20th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
Whether you voted for Obama or not, whether you agree with his policies or not, whether you think he will be a decent president or not, you CANNOT deny what THIS DAY meant to MILLIONS of people worldwide. Today, I was INCREDIBLY PROUD of my country. I think we made the right decision, and if some of you don’t, well honestly, what else can you do? Be as negative as you want, but honey, look around you. You’re all alone on this one!
I honestly think we should all put our differences aside, and stand united, at least for this once. Can’t we all just be civil, and try to educate ourselves, and others around us? Stop being so negative? If anything, we can learn something from today, and stop being so damn childish! Grow UP AMERICA! IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE!
Love always from NYC,
Lilly
January 20th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
While I don’t hope to see Obama fail, I hope people will realize that he is not perfect, and will make mistakes and decisions that they won’t agree with.
I think the amount of disrespect people have for Bush is disgusting. How can you judge a man’s decisions when you don’t have all the information? If you think you know everything that went on inside the Oval Office, then you’re a moron. There are so many sealed documents that we have no clue about. If he had chosen to do nothing, we might have been attacked again and then everyone would have been complaining that he did not do enough.
How can anyone just now be proud to be an American?! Nothing has changed! This country calls you a citizen simply for being born within it’s borders. Our brothers and sisters have given their lives for your freedom. Public school is free for everyone. Ane yes, life is not easy for everyone, but if it were than no one would strive for more. This is the greatest country in the world, and it has been for centuries. How can you JUST NOW be proud of it?! If you didn’t like it before, then why are you still here? No one was stopping you from leaving. Something kept you here.
If you expect me to show respect for Obama, then please, show a little respect for our former President, or at the very least, the country.
January 20th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
YAY!!!!! Thats how I feel. :) I’m truely proud to be an American because I never thought I would see this day come to fruition. A man of color is the president of the united states. Thats a bold statement. Our country has come a long way.
January 20th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
There is so much to be proud of today. We have made great leaps in racial equality and this day is a testemant to how far our country has come. But just as our President said we have a long way to go. Things may get worse before they get better and that will not be a reflection on Obama, but Bush and that state he has left our country in.
Most of all what we have been gifted with from the swearing in of our first black President is hope. Obama is a beacon of hope and what I love the most about our new President is that he is working to plant that hope in all of us, though for most of the world I dare say, it is already there. That hope is what we need to cleave to.
As far as Bush goes, I said good riddance when he left. All I feel for him now is pity. He left his office with 22% approval rating from the American people. I cannot imagine leaving behind the legacy that he is leaving. Imagine what history books will say about him. For all his mistakes that has made, for the state he has left this country in he deserves no respect, no matter what title he has or had in front of his name.
January 20th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
I’m sad to hear that people chanted like it was a football game when President Bush left. President Bush was so accomodating to the Obamas. He always spoke of them with respect and kindness. We should all wish him well as we wish our new President well.
History has not been written about President Bush yet. Who knows how we will look back in 20 years? I will always think of him as a kind man who tried his best to do what was right for our country in very tough times.
I wish Obama well. I hope he is able to live up to the high expectations everyone has for him. If he can live up to his press, then we will be lucky indeed!
January 20th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Gah! Why can’t some of you people just handle the fact that people have different opinions than you and get over it?! It’s the American way to have your own opinion! I don’t agree with half of what some of y’all are saying, but do you really think that an argument on a blog is gonna fix what they think or believe?.. No! So don’t waste your time it’s ridiculous just reading all of this.
January 20th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
I was only able to watch part of the ceremony due to class and I recognize the historical significance of this day. I wish President Obama well with everything he wishes to do, he has some high expectations to live up to! I was thoroughly disappointed in the reaction of the crowd in DC and of those peers I watched this with and how they reacted to former President Bush. Whether you like the guy or not or agree with his decisions or not the guy deserves our respect. He just spent 8 years doing a job that I think the majority of the country does not have the ability to do. I challenge any one of you out there to do that job and not completely lose it under all the pressure and stress. I personally did not vote for President Obama and did not like how he came across in the interviews but I respect what he has achieved and I will keep in my prayers and I wish him well. That is what being an American is about. Americans should not only be proud of this day but they should also be able to be respectful of former leaders.
January 20th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
I have now seen four different Presidents sworn into office (and a few Presidential funerals too :( ) and I’ve never seen anything like what was on my tv today. Absolutely amazing. I’ll never forget what I saw today. I’m a staunch Dem and while I wanted Hillary to win the Primary, I quickly climbed on board the Obama train when she didn’t. I think he’s got some great ideas and I hope that his administration gets to see most if not all (hey we can hope) of them be acted out. Truely amazing day. And the whole Bushy leaving? It doesn’t bother me that everyone sang the way they did. It hasn’t been a very good 8 years. And to correct Matt I believe, we did in fact get attacked while he was in office, right under his nose pretty much. Our economy fell apart and half our country was left a distater area after the hurricanes and what did he do? I can’t blame him personally for everything because I understand that there are many people involved in the process but he’s the face of all of them. Let’s see what Obama can do for us in the next four years before we start arguing!

I think it’s absolutely ridiculous how childish people have been acting about President Bush leaving the White House. He was the leader of our country. Have some respect people. I don’t agree with a lot of the decisions he made in office, but I do believe that with every decision he made he was doing what he believed was right for our country. No president has had as much happen during his time in office than President Bush. And I understand that people are excited about a new president, but the Obama has no real experience. He promises change. I hope he can bring wonderful changes for our country. I will keep him in my prayers. I hope God blesses Obama and his presidency.

I don’t know what you all were watching, but the crowd was singing the na-na-na-na song when they ANNOUNCED former President Bush! Call First Amendment all you want-it was super disrespectful!!
I voted Obama, support Obama, and am extremely happy to see Bush leave office. But singing that was so embarassing to me; and frankly, I don’t think that action reflects the type of attiude that Pres. Obama has. He wants everyone to work together!! Seriously, act like Pres. Obama and have some class!!!

I was at the inauguration yesterday and people were actually chanting the “na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye” song every time Bush’s face was on the jumbo tron screen. They also boo’d him continuously. While I voted for Obama and strongly dislike Bush and what he’s done to the country, I was embarrassed that people would act this way. The fact is, we should still show respect to the position of The President and while he’s in office, at least be mature enough not to taunt and harass him.

Trent, I agree that the president doesn’t just deserve respect for his title. That’s the whole point of America, the prez isn’t some supreme ruler that everyone shows support just b/c of his title, he works for us.
With that said, I still thought it was tacky. The man is a hot mess (thanks to his fam) but he is a man with feelings. I found it just as tacky as McCain’s supporters chanting “Sarah, Sarah” as he gave his very gracious concession speech. (and remembering that, all I have to say is the people above trashing Obama voters should keep their mouths closed, McCain’s voters weren’t always the epitome of classy behavior either.)
