The Olsen Twins Have Their Walk Of Fame Star Defaced!
Oh, the horror!

It would seem that PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has not eased up on their crusade against Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s love of wearing fur. The twins are protested against by the animal rights group at public events but it appears that that is no longer enough. The twins’ star (along with that of Sharon Stone) on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been defaced with the epithet FUR HAGS! … behold:

Stars of actresses Sharon Stone, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on the Hollywood Walk of Fame have been smudged with the words “FUR HAGS!” by anti-fur campaigners. While Stone’s star, received in November 1995, was smeared with “OLD FUR HAG!”, the actress twins’ shared marker bared the words “FUR HAGS!”, reports the Daily Express. Many other celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Socialite Khloe Kardashian have previously found themselves at the centre of controversies for wearing fur. Activists supporting People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have been on their feet to discourage the use of fur and protest against the torture inflicted on animals under the name of fashion. And it has been commonplace to observe anti-fur demonstrations outside the A-listers’ signings and public appearances.

In addition to referring to the Olsens as Fur Hags, the animal rights group also refers to them as the Trollsen Twins … going so far as to set up a website where folks can play dress up with ghastly cartoon-versions of the girls on the site:

Dress Up The Trollsen Twins!

It is NOT absolutely certain that PETA had anything at all to do with the defacement of these stars on the Walk of Fame but, judging by the term FUR HAGS!, it’s likely. At the very least, the grafitti was done by a PETA/animal rights sympathizer … or mebbe just a hater.

lol i like the olsens but that shit is pretty funny!

  2. Amy says:

It is pretty funny and the defacer is pretty talented, I’m guessing they were probably paid to do it.

  3. Amy says:

But seriously, thats the best they could come up with.

  4. Laura says:

I think that’s gross…I don’t support people wearing fur but PETA takes things too far. I think making a website calling them the “Trollsens” and making jabs at their appearance really undermines their cause–very immature.

  5. kimmy says:

wow I don’t know what to think about that, but this is from the same people that dumped red paint on people…I guess I shouldn’t be too shocked…

  6. Sassy K says:

Preach on Laura – I’m with you. There are many animal rights organizations (WSPA, for example) that stay focused on the cause as a whole and choose not to zero in on celebrity offenders. That being said, I absolutely do not support fur for fashion. However, I’d rather donate money to an organization that focuses its dollars on more productive things.

  7. kimmy says:

Laura I totally agree with you, its hard to support an organization that just attacks people that don’t go along with their M.O.

  8. Oy says:

    For shame, PETA…for shame!

  9. Hannah says:

I agree with most people here. Campaining against animal cruelty is one thing, undermining people, abusive behaviour and breaking laws is another.

  10. JJ says:

Honestly, everytime I hear the words “animal rights” I cringe b/c PETA gives that cause such a bad name.

  11. Jadedkitten says:

    so stoopid

  12. Dots says:

While I would never wear fur, I wish someone would deface PETA.

  13. It’s funny. Not as if these girls are even all that talented in the first place. Does anyone think they’re good enough to even receive a star on the Walk of Fame…? Not really! PETA have gone too in the past with splattering people in paint and causing public havoc, which is unacceptable behaviour. There are other ways to protest without causing harm. Who honestly cares about some star on a sidewalk having a bit of graffiti?

  14. Camille says:

I don’t like the Olsen twins and I don’t believe in wearing fur, but this is ridiculous. This reminds me of that old axiom ‘fighting for peace is like whoring for virginity’.

  15. Ashley H. says:

How childish to deface someones hard work… Although I would never wear fur or support retailers who supply it, to each their own.

  16. M says:

I’d like to see PETA actually put up an educated debate rather then use childish, ignorant attempts to get their message across.

  17. Lisa says:

PETA is so petty. Their ways of “protest” are immature and degrading. They attack anyone who doesn’t share their views. I personally won’t wear fur, but I don’t see the big deal. To each his own!!!

  18. Traci says:

I don’t wear fur, and I don’t like the Olsens, but this is so immature and stupid. And the “Trollsen Twins” thing has been done before, so it’s not even creative.
Nobody should really be surprised at what they do though, this is the same group that handed out “Mommy is a Murderer” coloring books to children.

  19. Ella says:

How is targeting two people with questionable acting abilities supposed to stop the use of animal carcasses as fashion?
Trollsen Twins? My five year old nephew could come up with that shiz. I am all for animal rights, but these people keep going about it all wrong.
    M I agree with you.

  20. tatiana says:

Its probably not the best way to get your message out, but its kind of funny. I have no sympathy for someone who wears fur.
