@April — absolutely, correct. He may be a big star elsewhere but I doubt he’ll win awards here in the US … and there is nothing wrong with that. The crux of my comment is that his irritating manner really annoys me, no matter what awards he may win wherever in the world.

And I do agree with Dodo and Ammer that your Anil comment was a bit of a rude swipe about him likely not to achieve more major awards…Hollywood awards are NOT the center of the universe. His Bollywood awards and recognition mean a lot and maybe he will not be in another movie that gets this much Hollywood attention but so what..it is not a small feat to win awards in Bollywood which he still works in.

Anil Kapoor is the biggest star acting in the film, even though he is not the star of this particular movie so I think he feels like he should be able to talk/thank and Dev and Frieda are probably just fine with that since they respect him as the famous actor they have grown up watching. He is a movie veteran in Bollywood, whereas Dev and Frieda are new faces. I do think that the truly best actors of the movies were the kids who unfortunately don’t get to come attend these events apparently..Dev and Frieda are good but the kid actors really make it the movie that it is.

I did want to agree with the comment left by Dodo. I’m not a huge fan of Anil Kapoor, but you do seem to be taking a swipe at all of the other major awards he’s won.

Anil Kapoor can be annoying at these award shows. I really don’t see why he’s getting so much attention since Dev Patel and Frieda Pinta were the main characters. Granted, his character played an important part but not to the extent where he’s covering all of the press conferences and award shows.

I think Kate deserves to win the BEST ACTRESS award as well. Anyway, she will win the oscars next month and not meryl. Kate was amazing in The Reader and she was as perfect as Revolutionary Road. She is the best actress of her generation. She got robbed for Lead in RR and her TR was pushed lead so no way will she lose to Meryl or any of her co-nominees. She is lock for the win with Heath in supporting actor and Slumdog for Best Pic

Amy Poehler (sp?) looked so pretty last night..And I LOVED that she still had a poochy tummy..I can’t stand these celebs that come out a few weeks after having a baby and are back to their teeny bodies! Amy is a real woman and I love her even more for it!

I love Slumdog Millionaire and I hope it wins the Oscar for Best Picture. I thought it was really nice that they gave a shout out to all the young actors too, they were my favorite! I think its hilarious that Brad and Angelina keep getting shut out. I thought Brad did a great job is Benjamin Button, but I didn’t really like Angie’s performance in Changeling. I could see Brad having a chance, but Angelina really doesn’t have one at all against all the other ladies.

Gaycrest was BEGGING for Brangelina to blow of him off. Oh. You meant for ignoring him. Well, that was just funny. I love Winslet and Streep and they’re absolutely deserving. I’m not a Brangeloonie, but I think they both did good work this past year, and they’re being shut out because of all the media attention, which I don’t think is fair, but whatevs. I’m thrilled KateWINSlet is finally getting the recognition she deserves! I just hope she won’t get screwed come Oscar time. WTF is up with nomming her supporting role for Lead Actress?
