Taylor Lautner Surfaces In Hollywood, Shows Off New Bulk
Just a few days ago, we learned that Twilight star Taylor Lautner has been recast in the role of Jacob Black in the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon. As you may recall, there was a bit of chatter last month that Lautner was in danger of losing the role to a much beefier actor and it was reported that he was working hard to prove to the movie studio that he was up for playing the role of Jacob again. People reported that Taylor had put on 19 pounds in his efforts to keep the role. Now that Taylor has retained the part, it is time for him to show his face in public again … here are a few new pics of Taylor making his way out of a Chipotle here in SoCal showing off his new “bulkier” look:
Um, I do not see any evidence of 19lbs. of anything in these pics … he looks as fresh-faced as ever to me. Perhaps there are new muscles underneath that t-shirt but he is lookin’ too much like David babyface Archuleta in these pics and less like the über-Jacob Black that I envisioned in New Moon. Even still, I am very glad that Taylor has been allowed to keep the part he originated in the first film and I have no doubt that he’ll be able to become the Jacob Black he needs to be in the movie sequel. Now that Taylor’s got the part, we may be seeing much more of the lad around Hollywood … after all, he’s secured a major role for a much-anticipated new movie. It’s time he turn that cache into more fame.

Heh. Call me crazy, but I think both Taylor and ‘Babyface’ David Archuleta are cute as hell. The only problem is that Jacob isn’t supposed to be ‘cute’…he’s got a long way to go if he wants to be a convincing werewolf dude.

At first, I was like that sucks, Taylor should be able to stay! but then I read the books (just finished all of them yesterday) and I just can’t see Taylor playing the almost 7 ft tall Jacob Black! But you know, if they can make it work, I’m cool with it! :)

I totally see a difference in his appearance. And we all have to remember that he’s promised 10 more lbs. before filming starts. That’s 29 freaking pounds that he’ll have put on. He definately wants this part. And also, if you’ve read the books, you’ll know that Jacob remains shirtless through much of the time. So, all I have to say is, yum!

You know, I could actually picture Steven Strait (Undiscovered, The Covenant) in the role. I think he looks a LOT like Taylor. Just older and def a bit beefier.

He still looks pretty baby faced but a lot older than sixteen when you think about it.. and alot more buff than any sixteen year olds i know. so good for him.

muscles can’t make up for lack of acting talent, but it seems that no one really cares about acting in this movie series. i’m just glad i read the book before i saw the movie.

I’ve never seen the movie or read the book but… Taylor has the young Matt Damon thing goin` on and look where Matt ended up, sexiest man of the year with a pretty successful film franchise.

You’re right, Lesley – he does look a bit like Matt Damon! I’m glad he’s staying on – I’m really weird in that I like the actor that originated a role to stay for the whole franchise, for better or worse! But is 16 too young for him to be beefing up for roles? I mean, I just hope it won’t hurt his development b/c he’s still probably got a few years of growing to do.

I can def see that he’s bulked up a bit, but if you didn’t see him before he isn’t someone you’d look at and say “wow he’s big”. Keep in mind Jacob gets bigger in New Moon, but then he continues to grow alot after too. So even though right now he doesn’t look like the 7 foot imposing Jacob we read about, he also shouldn’t. Not to mention they’d never find someone whose both 7 feet tall and super bulky as Stephenie describes. Sometimes she forgot logic in her descriptions. Like how she also pictures Bella as an almost unhealthily thin girl. speaking of which…I’m surprised nobody has brought up the fact that Kristen is much taller then Bella is supposed to be. If she was closer to 5′4, it would def make Jacob look more imposing, and Edward more of the protector.
