Taylor Lautner Shows Off His Buffed New Bod
Access Hollywood ran into Taylor Lautner, who has recently been announced as Jacob Black in the Twilight movie sequel New Moon, at a Golden Globes gifting suite this weekend and spoke with him on camera about securing the role he originated in the first movie of the Twilight Saga. Firstly, AH asked Taylor to confirm on camera that he did get the role and then the topic moved on to all the bulk he supposedly put on in order to prove to New Moon producers that he is the right man to play Jacob Black in the upcoming sequel:
According to Lautner, he claims that he put on 20 pounds of muscle in the weeks leading up to the announcement that he got the part (he asserts that he “started working out the day after [he] finished filming Twilight“) and has since put on 6 more pounds of muscle … so the interviewer asked him to show off this new bulk and Taylor obliged. Whoa! That’s a lot of new bulk, I’d say. Taylor says that he “guaranteed” fans to he’d put on at least 30 pounds of new muscle and is only 4 pounds away from his goal … but says he won’t stop there and says that he will go “above and beyond” his promised 30 pounds of muscle. This kid is trying really hard and I applaud him for it. He’s adorable and going after what he wants. It’s a nice change from all the usual Hollywood young people screwing around and getting arrested. Go Taylor! And I don’t give a crap about Twilight. *shrug*

lets just hope that kid is doing this the healthy way and isn’t using steroids or pushing his body too hard. He is really young and his muscles aren’t completely developed yet… if he isn’t careful he can damage his muscles permanently by trying to build them up too quickly

Good for him. I’m glad he is working hard to keep his role. I can’t see anyone else do JB but him. BTW I’m sure he has his personal trainers to help him reach his goal in a safe manner.

Taylor’s a junior world karate champion and has been practicing since he was six. I’m betting he knows about exercising in a healthful manner, and his parents probably wouldn’t allow any nonsense. He’s a total cutie. I hope it all works out for him.

I had a feeling he would be coming back for more.
I still don’t like him…and i feel that his acting was horrible in Twilight, but I guess we have to give him a chance and see if how he will do in the next Twilight films.

Well, Taylor WAS pretty buff before this whole NM controversy. In fact, he could’ve kick Robert’s butt back then, lol. I had no doubt he would gain the wight he promised. HE looks pretty good. YAY!
Jacob Black is my favorite Twilight character and I’m proud that Taylor is portraying it. He seems to understand the character, to care for it (which is important because a LOT of Twilight fans detest Jacob just for the sake of him being Jacob), has a lot of warmth and a crazy beautiful smile. I can totally see something of Jacob in him. My hopes are high. I’m excited.

While I am completely happy that Taylor gets to keep his role and I’m also happy to see him bulking up to play a more convincing werewolf, I gotta say that his casting totally reaffirms my TEAM EDWARD status. I realize he’s still a teenager but the whole baby-faced look is totally what turns me off to the whole Jacob/Bella thing. That being said I’m completely glad it’s him in that role because while I was reading it I never really envisioned him as a “man”. Partly because he is younger than Bella and partly because of his actions. Anyone else think that way or think they cast him because of those things? I think Michael Capon would have just thrown that way off.

That’s a lot of hard work being put in.
I was so glad that he got to keep the role as Jacob Black, because he is definitely SOOOOOOO SOOOOO SOOOO much better than that Copen guy, who seems to be so full of himself.
If they are gonna make one twilight sequel every year, I guess there’s still a possibility for Taylor to be the Jacob Black in Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

Taylor is part Native American, so chill out (I am part Cherokee myself). And when he said that Edward is out, it’s in reference to the fact that Edward isn’t supposed to be prevalent in the next book (movie), it’s more about Bella and Jacob.
