‘Skins’ Season 3 Gets A Newer, Extended Trailer
Late last month we were introduced to the new cast of the new season of the hit British TV series Skins and today we get to watch a new trailer that gives us a pretty extensive feel for the way the new gang will be interacting, especially when they are all introduced to one another in the season premiere episode. US readers may not be very familiar with Skins (which airs in this country on BBC America) but I can assure you, it’s a really great (if oftentimes totally exaggerated) television series. Here is an extended trailer for the upcoming third season of Skins … be warned, some of the language and imagery may be NSFW (additionally, some portions of the clip may be unintelligible to folks who have a hard time deciphering British accents):
Click HERE to watch this video on You Tube if the above embed does not work for you. Yeah, it looks pretty good … tho, I’m still reserving total judgment until I’m able to watch the series (or at least the first few eps) in full for myself. I so love the original cast of characters from the first two seasons of Skins (who have since graduated from college [just after high school but not university]). My fear is that season three will attempt to outdo the crazy stuff we saw in the first two seasons of the show merely for shock value. I’d rather the series continue to stick to the witty writing and amazing character development that we got from the original cast. Dev Patel, who played Anwar in seasons 1 and 2 of Skins, can currently be seen in the amazing movie Slumdog Millionaire … that might give y’all a better understanding of the quality that was had from the original cast. I like this trailer … but I want to see more. There is still no word on when exactly season 3 of Skins will air here in the US (at this point, word is we’ll get the next season sometime in “Spring 2009″) but the show will premiere in the UK on Thursday January 22. Folks here in the US interested in catching up with the first two seasons of Skins can catch reruns on BBC America OR can download all of the eps HERE on iTunes OR the season 1 DVD set can be ordered from BBC America HERE:

It doesn’t look nearly as good as the first two seasons…but well…at least it’s got Effy! I’ll still check it out though…loved the original cast of Skins.

Sure, the British accent is funny and quite posh IMHO:)

@Scott - and crazy Pandora! there is much reason to be hopeful the new season will be good :)

It seems as if Effy will be hooking up with the ‘Tony’ of this season.
which brings up all kinds of incestuous awkwardness

can NOT wait!

I was a huge fan of the first two seasons (LOVED CHRIS) I was looking forward to this but a little worried when I saw the first promo of the bar brawl that made it look like they were just going to try to go overboard with the shock this season but this preview gives me a bit more hope…and that boy that likes Effy he is totally cute I’ll watch just for him ;)

Just to be picky, they’re not actually at school. College in the UK is somewhere you go after High School, either to do a degree (generally of a lesser level than University degrees) or to do exams you didn’t do in school so you can qualify to do a degree. That aside, I can’t wait to see more Effy, you should well have got more attention in other series!

@Louise. Just to be even more picky, that’s wrong. They’re at a Sixth Form College, which is an alternative to the last 2 years of high school from age 16 to 18 (so all the characters at the start of series 3 are 16). They’ll be studying for the same A Level exams (3 or 4 subjects of their choice) as they would have if they’d stayed at high school, but a Sixth Form College tends to offer a broader range of subjects and have an atmosphere half way between high school and university.
I agree with you about Effy, though!

I loved the first 2 seasons, so I’m not sure about this, but Effy was my fave character, worryingly cos she reminded me of me. I am English and went to sixth form college and I gotta say it’s kinda misrepresented. There are no where near so many strict rules, smoking on premises is allowed and they never noticed the drugs. Am i the only one who doesn’t like the look of this “New Tony”? I hope Effy breaks his heart. Can’t wait till the 22nd, ooh also new Grey’s anatomy! xXx

I love this show! It’s like 90210 on crack!

@ifiweretimgunn - in the US, yes … BBC America is about to release season 1 on dvd, season to to follow. i’m sure it’s available in the UK already.

Hahah I think from the first two series the only exaggerated bits were Russia and the Car in the lake. I love Effy’s list that is pretty much what my college said to us but my high school was worse xD I am worried like you about the shock value tactic as well the writers managed 5 seasons of Shameless without ruining the show though so I hold out hope. Ahh makes me so glad I was b

I love skins. I watched as much of it as I could on youtube before I finally got BBC America. yay :)

the girl that plays effy reminds me of willa holland.
but jeeez, slut much????
love the show but how many 16 yr olds have sex with a random they dont know on the first day of school IN school? yeah, not many :P
January 15th, 2009 at 8:11 am
Ha, disagree with that Mimi, I knew at least one. Plus Effy rocks, and has always been a slut. The Russia episode is a little exaggerated but it’s also my fave episode.

Im an american college(university) student studying in the uk and i have seen every skins episode out there (they just finished broadcasting the last episode of sean 3 on thursday) and i can tell you the end is a little disappointing. The 3rd season isnt half as good and the 1st and 2nd one. as you said, trent, the 1st and 2nd seasoon was so overwhelming that for the 3rd one they have tried so hard to top it by being rediculously nuts. It’s a bit of a shame. Then again, it’s definitely worth the wait and the watch!

I love SKINS…Trent got me hooked. I live in the US but I found a website that I can enjoy and watch all the Seasons even Season 3. I finished the finale episode for Season 3 and I can’t wait for the next one.
