Jessica Simpson Surfaces In Virginia
Jessica Simpson landed at an airport in Virginia last night ahead of a live concert performance she is doing in Charlottesville tonight with Country band Rascal Flatts. As you may recall, new photos of a curvy and, IMHO, bootylicious Jessica Simpson came out this past Monday which have ignited a firestorm of commentary (most, pretty harsh) in the blogosphere and beyond (like major news outlets, apparently). Personally, I think Jess looked great in those photos … happy and healthy, which is sometimes an aberration in Hollywood. Jess looked resolute and stayed quiet as comments were thrown out at her upon her arrival in Virgina last night … tho she she did crack a smile when she was told that she looked beautiful:
Jessica Simpson stepped out in Virginia Wednesday night as buzz continues to build over her curvier new figure. Bundled up in a gray jacket, dark sunglasses and a hat, the usually bubbly 28-year-old singer — who is set to perform with Rascal Flatts today at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville — looked solemn. She smiled a bit when photographers told her she was stunning and beautiful. Her appearance comes a day after Ashlee Simpson-Wentz attacked critics for making such a fuss over her sister’s new fuller figure. “I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight,” Ashlee wrote on her Celebrity MySpace page. “A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.”
I agree that it’s pretty disgusting the things people say about other people but am not at all surprised that a network like Fox News would make such an issue out of a “story” like this. Sad. I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of Jessica Simpson’s music (never have been) and I do poke fun at her from time-to-time but I honestly think that she looks absolutely fine and I’m glad that she is choosing not to comment at all about any of this ridiculousness. I understand that things are good between her and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (despite what some are saying). I hope she keeps on keepin’ on and doesn’t let the negativity get to her … I’d hate to see Jess take some of the horrible comments on her weight to heart and then do anything drastic. She looks great the way she is … own it, girl!

sure she gained a few pounds…but she’s NOT fat. the only thing that struck me about those photos was the unflattering outfit she had on…it was all wrong. and made her look a bit heavier than she really is.

It’s disgusting…. I’m a huge fan of HLN, but when I saw the story on there I was really disturbed that with all the crap going on with our country and the world right now, this is what they choose to inform us about.
The girl is gorgeous and is ALLOWED to put on a few extra pounds. It’s ridiculous that she’s being criticized for something like this. She’s obviously not fat and just goes to show that the media needs a reality check.

Oh boy @Trent & snapshot – the jeans were a hot mess… she looks good & happy & healthy w/the right hot outfit, she could look amazing!! She needs to get a stylist asap to accentuate her positives…..
I’m not a fan of her music at all – but she’s a cute girl. It’s a shame this whole thing has been so blown up!

She doesn’t look good w/o makeup. That is the sad thing. She’s not a natural beauty, neither is her sister. Yet, it’s nice that she is proud to be curvy and doesn’t seem to care what people think. I wish the Hollywood weight issue would go away. Let women be women!!!!

I’m not sure why people always feel the need to single out Fox News as they are the network with the fewest scandals by far but I agree, it’s kind of ridiculous how when there is so much going on in the world we have to hear about things so small and petty like Jessica Simpson’s weight gain. Personally, I think she looks great and a lot happier than when she was stick thin during the Dukes of Hazard.

So the girl wore a bad outfit and maybe gained a few pounds, big deal. Why is this top news? Why does the NY Post bother running a horrible and incredibly mean cartoon of her? Why don’t we focus on REAL news, like the war and Israel or all the drug lord problems going on in Mexico that NO ONE seems to know about (despite the fact that the fighting is spilling into Texas)? Give the girl a break.

How anyone can think this girl is fat is beyond me. I know girls – both heavy AND thin – who would kill to have such curves. There’s absolutely nothing attractive about stick figures with implants, and Jess is working these leggings. And we ALL know the difference a good outfit can make. If anything, i blame her handlers for letting her go on stage in those horrible jeans.

She is beautiful and not overweight. But she does obviously need a new stylist because those jeans and the belt wouldn’t do anyone any favors at all.

I saw the “story” here before it was even on Fox News. It wasn’t a headline, either. It was one part of their Pop Tarts section, which is a fly-by recap of the days entertainment news. They’ve had bits about Spears, Aniston, et al, flattering and not. When I saw the original post on PITNB, which were the same ones used by Fox, I thought she didn’t look so good, but after seeing different pictures I’ve changed my mind. She looks fantastic and think this first round was bad outfit AND bad pictures. And it doesn’t matter what anybody thinks, anyway. Jess needs to be happy with Jess, and it looks like she is.

This is all so tragic…but girlfriend has a muffin top and California Back Rolls. If it were a normal person, you’d call them “fat.” But because it’s JSimps, she’s curvy. She definitely needs to fire her stylist and Ken Paves as well because the Barbie hair is out. I hear Dolly needs a new hair dresser. But hey, she could be out new spokesperson since we got rid of Kirstie!

Its sad because the reports don’t take into account the viewers: non-famous females who aren’t pin thin. So If we don’t fit into the “pin thin” category are we fat?!? No, but the media has been distorting our concept of beauty for years, and I’m glad that people are making an issue of this. I don’t expect to see much to change but I am glad that we are atleast addressing the non-sense!

I love her and think its disgraceful what anyone said about her weight.
I wrote out a long piece on the political bias but thought I’d let it be, I already annoy too many people. it’s just I love this blog and come here every I just wish it wasn’t so ignorantly biased so often. Why can’t you accept dumb people do horrible things and these dump people are sometimes conservative and sometimes liberal.

I never thought I would see the day that I would agree with something Ashlee Simpson had to say but hey – I do agree! I love gossiping about celebs and reading about them also but the depths to which some people are ridiculing her about putting on a few pounds – please. Why do they have to be so hateful.

Certainly not newsworthy, but I am pretty sure it can all be traced back to Joe Simpson, who planted the first negative comments as to drum up sympathy from the females who will pay to see her in concert and hold up signs saying “I’m curvy too, Jessica!” “We love you Jess!”
The whole thing just reeks of Papa Joe….

Headline News and CNN aren’t liberal, they just aren’t conservative. The only news channel which is mostly liberal is MSNBC, but that’s still not 100%, as they got Joe Scarborough.
And yes, it’s stupid this made the actual news, and yes, she’s not fat, and yes, those jeans were fug.

I either think it was the outfit or she’s pregnant. If you google pics of her & Tony arriving at LAX on 1/6/09 she has skinny jeans on…no way someone gains weight like that in 3 weeks unless she’s preggers or it was SUPER unflattering (’THE’ outfit last weekend). BUT her face is way thinner on 1/6…could she be pregnant???

so sad gossip sites are calling her fat. we (as women) rage about the standards set by society about what we should look like. and then you take a girl who is thin to begin with, who maybe puts on a few lbs, and we tear her apart, it’s ridiculous. she is by no means fat. she chose to wear an outfit that was very unflattering to her figure, we all agree on that. but leave the girl alone, she is not overweight. she looks healthy and beautiful.
