Inauguration Day Replay
I think it’s pretty safe to say, by all accounts, that yesterday was an historically momentous day. The swearing in of Barack H. Obama as our 44th President of the United States of America was a day that was a long time coming … and when the moment was at hand, the US and the world at large paused to bear witness. A lucky 2,000,000 were able to attend the Inauguration swearing in ceremony in person in Washington DC … including my dear friend Jordan, who made the trek from SoCal to attend the Inauguration events in DC. Here are a few photos that Jordan sent in from DC yesterday:

As you can see, Jordan managed to squeeze his way to the front of the podium where President Obama was giving his Inauguration Address. I chatted with him briefly on the phone yesterday morning while we were waiting for the events to get underway and he sounded so happy and excited to be there for the historic event.
Here are a few photos of the Obamas as they made their way in the Presidential motorcade along the parade route after the swearing in ceremony … as you can see, the First Family were stylin’ along in the new Presidential Cadillac Limousine created by General Motors (which we learned a bit about yesterday), straight from Motown — Detroit, MI:

Not only is this Presidential Limo the safest one ever but it, in my estimation, is the slickest ride any president has been fortunate enough to own.
But after the long day’s activities were completed, it was time to get the party started. President and First Lady Obama (who was dressed in a beautiful white gown designed by 26 year old Jason Wu) made their way to 10 Inaugural Balls and both looked stunning as they danced the night away. Here are a couple photos of the Obamas as they made their grand arrival at the Neighborhood Ball, the first of many balls the couple attended last night:

After the jump, check out a bunch of photos (and video) of the First Couple enjoying their first dance together as they were serenaded by Beyoncé who sang the Etta James classic At Last …
Michelle looked stunning and Barack looked pretty damn hawt in his swanky tux … behold:

And, in case you missed seeing it last night, here is video of the First Couple’s first dance:
The look so sweet, so in love. Oh yeah, it was the perfect way to cap off such a great day. I know for a fact that there were many, many celebrations all over the world yesterday in honor of President Obama’s inauguration … my friends and I here in LA had our own Inauguration Pool Party and had an absolute blast! I’ll have photos from our fun later on. If you have pics from YOUR celebrations and you’d like to share, please send them in and I’ll try to post as many of them as I can this weekend :) As I said yesterday, January 20, 2009 is a day that I will never forget. Our country took a huge step forward and I can’t wait to see where we go from here :)

Oh Pres. and Mrs. Obama look gorgeous! Was beyonce a little emotional at the end there? I would be! What an honor for her, I am sure…and I love that song. She sang it well.

OMG……I just cried AGAIN!! OBAMA! OBAMA!!
January 21st, 2009 at 9:03 am
I held in my tears all day until President Obama (nice sounding) danced with his lovely wife to one of my favorite songs. Beyonce’s eyes held in their tears but damnit if I didn’t bawl. It was perfect. At last indeed, Mr. President!!!

FANTASTIC! Bioncé is amazing, and it’s just so sweet to see Obama and Michelle dance together.

Very beautiful! I literally gasped when Michelle made her beautiful entrance! Beyonce was very emotional. One of the cable news networks interviewed her afterwards and she couldn’t even speak. She was so overcome with emotion. Overall very very beautiful. —Oh, and btw- D.C. is still half asleep ;o)

My mom’s cousin is one of Obama’s secret service agents. :) He rode in the front passenger seat of Obama’s car for the first half of the day, and then was one of the guys riding on the side of an SUV behind the presidential limo. :) It was so cool to see him on tv being a part of history!!

I teared watching this last night – it was amazing, I am so proud to call Obama my President : )
January 21st, 2009 at 10:26 am
I LOVED watching them dance. I think everyone could see how much they love each other.
Although, I have to say that I am not the biggest fan of the First Lady’s dress. I was hoping for something more form fitting in maybe a jewel tone…
Either way, they looked amazing!

So incredibly sweet!!! :)

One of my favorite things about Barack and Michelle Obama are just how lovely and natural they are together. It’s encouraging to see that kind of love and respect shown so publicly!

I cried.. that was beautiful, and I am hopeful for the furture once again, God Bless the USA!

I am sorry but her dress was a miss… FUGLY. It made her look like a giant
January 21st, 2009 at 11:04 am
Beautiful! How can you not watch that with a huge stinking grin on your face?
January 21st, 2009 at 11:15 am
Hooray for them! BUT I also think the dress is a miss. Not appropriate in my opinion. I think she is still trying to figure her style out. I liked the gold outfit alright earlier, but imo, most of her outfits have been misses-hello remember the FUGLY black and red vampire outfit?

That dress is gorgeous she looked perfect!!! She was shaking her head at Barack at one point, I think he wanted her to get down and boogey but she was like no my dress! hahaha, and Beyonce, so jealous she got to sing for them, what an honor for her, you could tell she was dying to cry!! i think michelle is the most beautiful first lady we have had besides Jackie-O (whose style she channels constantly!) goodness, how lucky we americans now are!

POTUS and the First Lady looked amazing. I’m squarely in the camp that loves the gown and thinks she looked incredible in it. I am so happy that THEY look happy ’cause it’s gonna be a tough time from here on out but I’m confident Obama will guide us through the tough times.
January 21st, 2009 at 11:22 am
BTW, I’m not normally a Beyonce fan but I think she knocked this one outta the park and looked great to boot. Kinda cute that she got so emotional at the end.
January 21st, 2009 at 11:28 am
Beautiful, just beautiful.
I am so hopeful for our country. No person that loves his family so deeply and openly can steer us wrong.
January 21st, 2009 at 11:41 am
It’s so clearly apparent that Pres. O deeply respects his wife and considers her not only his partner in life but his equal as well. I love how he introduced her differently at each event last night. Kudos to the Obamas for being fucking awesome!
January 21st, 2009 at 11:48 am
ahh, i just love them, and i’m so so so so so excited that he’s our president! it’s so nice to finally like the president of the united states again :)
January 21st, 2009 at 11:58 am
the dress is AMAZING on her! i respect her for choosing to wear something from a little known designer…it just shows how humble she is………………….. i <3 Michelle Obama!
January 21st, 2009 at 12:04 pm
here’s my plan — barack for 8 years and then Michelle for 8 more. who’s with me?
January 21st, 2009 at 12:28 pm
@jill — SO with you :) My friends and I were talking about that possibility yesterday :)
January 21st, 2009 at 12:48 pm
I loved them dancing together. They are one classy couple. I am so proud.
January 21st, 2009 at 1:16 pm
that was one of the sweetest things i’ve ever seen. from the way the obamas were looking at each other to beyonce’s tearful ending to the song… just a beautiful moment from start to finish.
January 21st, 2009 at 2:24 pm
They are such a beautiful couple! I’m bursting with pride and as a native Washingtonian, I am still half asleep from yesterdays excitement and a night of celebration.
Maybe some of Michelle’s outfits may be considered misses to some, but you can’t deny that we haven’t seen style from a first lady like this since Jackie O. I ADORE Michelle Obama and she wears her clothes, not the other way around if you know what I mean. There is this one yellow cardigan from J. Crew that I have seen her in more than once and I love that about her. I love that Malia and Sasha were in J.Crew yesterday for the Inauguration. It just makes them more real.

Oh my gosh was this the most romantic thing you’ve ever seen?! You can tell how much they really respect each other. Did you see the interview after Beyonce afterwords? It was so great! Everything she held back as she sang came out in the interview! Just beautiful!

What a magical night. I love watching them go from ball to ball. You can tell that they are really in love, and Beyonce sounded beautiful. I had tears in my eyes. I’m going to be on this emotional high for weeks to come. :)
January 21st, 2009 at 6:32 pm
I was at the Eastern Ball- one of the 10 official balls and the last one the Obama’s attended.
It was AMAZING! Michelle looked beautiful, even that late in the night. His speech was amazing.
Gah- it was an amazing night and experience :)
January 21st, 2009 at 9:23 pm
although i’m not american…i watched the inauguration yesterday during my clinical placement (i’m not supposed to). lol.
i almost cried (probably because of beyonce’s emotional performance). YAY OBAMA! :)
January 21st, 2009 at 10:06 pm
I saw Michelle’s dress on TV first and was a bit disappointed, but it looked much better in high resolution photos.
But she could have worn a potato sack and still have looked radiant with the love between her and Barack. and beyonce hit it out of the park. soulful but not too overpowering.
Katie – I am beyond jealous.
