Inauguration Day Replay
Personal pics, motorcade pics and the Obama's first dance

I think it’s pretty safe to say, by all accounts, that yesterday was an historically momentous day. The swearing in of Barack H. Obama as our 44th President of the United States of America was a day that was a long time coming … and when the moment was at hand, the US and the world at large paused to bear witness. A lucky 2,000,000 were able to attend the Inauguration swearing in ceremony in person in Washington DC … including my dear friend Jordan, who made the trek from SoCal to attend the Inauguration events in DC. Here are a few photos that Jordan sent in from DC yesterday:

As you can see, Jordan managed to squeeze his way to the front of the podium where President Obama was giving his Inauguration Address. I chatted with him briefly on the phone yesterday morning while we were waiting for the events to get underway and he sounded so happy and excited to be there for the historic event.

Here are a few photos of the Obamas as they made their way in the Presidential motorcade along the parade route after the swearing in ceremony … as you can see, the First Family were stylin’ along in the new Presidential Cadillac Limousine created by General Motors (which we learned a bit about yesterday), straight from Motown — Detroit, MI:

Not only is this Presidential Limo the safest one ever but it, in my estimation, is the slickest ride any president has been fortunate enough to own.

But after the long day’s activities were completed, it was time to get the party started. President and First Lady Obama (who was dressed in a beautiful white gown designed by 26 year old Jason Wu) made their way to 10 Inaugural Balls and both looked stunning as they danced the night away. Here are a couple photos of the Obamas as they made their grand arrival at the Neighborhood Ball, the first of many balls the couple attended last night:

After the jump, check out a bunch of photos (and video) of the First Couple enjoying their first dance together as they were serenaded by Beyoncé who sang the Etta James classic At Last

Michelle looked stunning and Barack looked pretty damn hawt in his swanky tux … behold:

And, in case you missed seeing it last night, here is video of the First Couple’s first dance:

The look so sweet, so in love. Oh yeah, it was the perfect way to cap off such a great day. I know for a fact that there were many, many celebrations all over the world yesterday in honor of President Obama‘s inauguration … my friends and I here in LA had our own Inauguration Pool Party and had an absolute blast! I’ll have photos from our fun later on. If you have pics from YOUR celebrations and you’d like to share, please send them in and I’ll try to post as many of them as I can this weekend :) As I said yesterday, January 20, 2009 is a day that I will never forget. Our country took a huge step forward and I can’t wait to see where we go from here :)

    Beautiful, just beautiful.

I am so hopeful for our country. No person that loves his family so deeply and openly can steer us wrong.

  2. Andrea says:

It’s so clearly apparent that Pres. O deeply respects his wife and considers her not only his partner in life but his equal as well. I love how he introduced her differently at each event last night. Kudos to the Obamas for being fucking awesome!

that was one of the sweetest things i’ve ever seen. from the way the obamas were looking at each other to beyonce’s tearful ending to the song… just a beautiful moment from start to finish.

  8. Ella says:

They are such a beautiful couple! I’m bursting with pride and as a native Washingtonian, I am still half asleep from yesterdays excitement and a night of celebration.

Maybe some of Michelle’s outfits may be considered misses to some, but you can’t deny that we haven’t seen style from a first lady like this since Jackie O. I ADORE Michelle Obama and she wears her clothes, not the other way around if you know what I mean. There is this one yellow cardigan from J. Crew that I have seen her in more than once and I love that about her. I love that Malia and Sasha were in J.Crew yesterday for the Inauguration. It just makes them more real.

Oh my gosh was this the most romantic thing you’ve ever seen?! You can tell how much they really respect each other. Did you see the interview after Beyonce afterwords? It was so great! Everything she held back as she sang came out in the interview! Just beautiful!

What a magical night. I love watching them go from ball to ball. You can tell that they are really in love, and Beyonce sounded beautiful. I had tears in my eyes. I’m going to be on this emotional high for weeks to come. :)

  13. Katie says:

I was at the Eastern Ball- one of the 10 official balls and the last one the Obama’s attended.
It was AMAZING! Michelle looked beautiful, even that late in the night. His speech was amazing.

Gah- it was an amazing night and experience :)

  14. Lisa says:

although i’m not american…i watched the inauguration yesterday during my clinical placement (i’m not supposed to). lol.

i almost cried (probably because of beyonce’s emotional performance). YAY OBAMA! :)

  15. Paz says:

I saw Michelle’s dress on TV first and was a bit disappointed, but it looked much better in high resolution photos.
But she could have worn a potato sack and still have looked radiant with the love between her and Barack. and beyonce hit it out of the park. soulful but not too overpowering.
Katie – I am beyond jealous.

  16. Katie says:
