For The Win!
And so … I’m back, home again, in SoCal after my quick trip to NYC. I couldn’t say anything about my last second plans to fly out to NY because I was trying to keep it a secret but I jetted out Friday afternoon, arrived at about 9pm (where I met Pink reader Sarah at the curbside car pick-up area) and then went out with David’s friends to the 9th Ave. Saloon after a yummy dinner at Aja on 6th Ave. At 9th Ave. I got to meet Pink readers Christoper (pictured below) and Daryl:

It was my pleasure meeting you all (Christopher tells me I have to give a shout-out to his sister Kayla). The party on Saturday night was really fun … and here I am, home again. This is my last week in my apartment before David and I move into our new condo in WeHo on Sunday. So excited :)
I’m also very excited about a few eBay auctions I won over the weekend as well … I picked up a vintage Polaroid Land 800, a Polaroid SX-70 (just like the one my parents used to photograph me as a baby) and a Polaroid Mio:

Of the three, I only plan on using the Mio — which uses the Fuji Instamax film that is still being manufactured and sold overseas. The other two I want to have for posterity’s sake. The wins were really reasonable, too. Yeah, I’m in a real Polaroid way lately.
Today, I have a meeting in town and I REALLY have to start packing … altho the movers are doing all the big work, I have some things I need to pack on my own. And the countdown begins …

You will laugh at my mistake this weekend: When speaking to a friend, talking way too fast, I said “prosterity” instead of posterity, and seeing you write it (correctly) above reminded me of my big blunder :) The party sounds fun and I think your surprise was so great.

there are ways to modify the older polaroid cameras for current use:

I’ve done it–it looks harder than it actually is! it’s a fun weekend project and a great way to keep using those awesome vintage cameras =)

Ah, I should have known it was Polaroids you were bidding on! I’ve never seen that Mio before, that looks like a really cool camera. Congrats Trent!

Congrats on winning the cameras on ebay! I always have the hardest time winning things on there! And congrats and good luck to you and David as you move into your new apartment together!

Hey Trent, you should check out Urban Outfitters for the fuji Instamax film, theyve been selling it here in Canada, for awhile, cheaper than buying it from overseas!

Trent, you crack me up with your weird poloroid obsession! Do you have an endorsement deal with them or something? LOL.
Love the blog!

Amazing I got the exact same Polaroid Land Cam off of eBay this weekend. I plan on using mine though, as i have found the film for it on polapremium.com. You should really think about it it’s so kitchy that people get all excited when you shoot them with it.

@Jaded — if you don’t mind, please let me know how it goes. i’m taking a bunch of 600 and Spectra film photos … the older skool peel apart film is too much for me to take on right now ;) i’m encouraged by my new Polaroid Mio — the Fuji Instax film that it uses is very close to real Polaroids and is still very much in production for sale.

Trent, it always amazes me that you run into PITNB readers wherever you go! Do they recognise you and say g’day? I think it’s so cool.
