Ever Wonder What Edward Cullen Smells Like?
For $48.00, you can find out

Just when you thought the exploitation of rabid Twilight fans couldn’t go any further comes the latest product tie-in that is designed to entice impressionable fans to part with their money. Hot Topic has just launched a new product for that Twilight fan in your life that already has every t-shirt, poster, bedding product, etc. available … now they can sink their teeth noses into Twilight Perfume:

Twilight Perfume
$48.00

The forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest! So take a bite of this apple-shaped bottle. It contains a delicious lavender and freesia scented perfume. 2.7 fluid ounces. Imported.

I can only imagine. After the jump, check out a bigger pic of the apple-shaped bottle …

OMG, who wouldn’t want this stuff? You can spray it all over your person, your teddy bears, your bedroom … the possibilities are endless! Sadly, folks outside the continental US cannot order this fragrance because customs won’t export fluids into foreign countries … but that just means that there’s more cheap perfume for US Twilighters to hoard! Order now, operators are standing by!!! Er, but don’t blame me if this stuff gives you a rash.

  2. Emily says:

I like perfume as much as the next gal but this is pretty silly debating over “rip-offs” – a perfume BOTTLE can’t be ripped off because none of them are patented or exclusive to one company or another… The perfume’s ingredients can be “copied” & is by those putting out generic brands I’ve seen in stores (generic name – based on Calvin Klein’s “Obsession”, etc.).

So just because the bottles are similar to each other, take a closer look & (if possible) sniff them both, but color-wise… Nina’s is rosy while Twilight’s is “blood” red. So they may be very different indeed. As Jared wrote: “it caontains a delicious lavender and freesia scented perfume.” – What is HER’S made from?

Granted, the Twilight guys could have gone with a more unique bottle design than Ricci’s… Hell, does a perfume company make their own bottles or get them from suppliers after submitting designs? Maybe the bottle should have been fired in the image of Robert Patterson WITH FANGS.

    Would that be better?

  4. sophie says:

can Nina sue hot topic for copying the bottle ? lol

  5. Kirsten says:

Ack!!! Bloody Hot Topic is desecrating my obsession with their relentless hawking of shite Twilight-themed products! Enoooough. I’m a total fan-girl but the only time I’d buy this is if it was in the £5 bargain bin. As it is, it’s not available in the UK, but i’m going to assume that it smells like diesel mixed with flowers. Not good.

I’d still like an Edward though…if Hot Topic started selling those off the shelves I’d be there in a shot.

  6. I know what Edward Cullen smells like! Or rather, I know what Robert Pattinson smells like as he was right up close in front of me signing autographs at the London premiere of “Twilight” and I straight away noticed his aftershave – VERY NICE INDEED!
The perfume idea is going too far with the merch ideas, though. Stick with the posters, t-shirts and all the usual stuff, but who’s going to buy a perfume? Will it actually take off or be a bad scent of a flop?

  7. …looks like a photoshopped version of the Nina Ricci bottle, for sure. I’m not convinced just yet if this really is a genuine item of merch.

  8. Mary says:

Trent, unfortunately it is very real. I saw tons of these bottles in stock yesterday at my local Borders. For the record, I thought it smelled like laundry detergent so if any of y’all are into smelling like that then go for it!

  9. pinkfan says:

We’re all sick of everyone and their mother coming out with perfumes… but as long at Britney and JLo keep selling millions of bottles of their scents we will continue to see and (hopefully not) smell attempts to cash in on this market.

  10. Marbeque says:

I agree this looks sooo much like the Nina Ricci perfume that I just assumed it was fake, even the box looks fake.

  11. Kirsten says:

Heh Trent was there any doubt that Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson would smell anything less than divine? I doubt that :D

  12. Sassy K says:

    This is so lame. Barf.

  13. Marissa says:

It smells kind of alcohol-y, but you can get it for $24.99 at Borders book stores!!!!!!

  14. Suzy says:

Yeah, I smelled it at the Borders bookstore yesterday…

It smells like some really gnarly AVON SOAP from the 80s…stuff my lame aunt wore and made me gag.

They could have and should have made it smell better. Shit, I would have bought it if it smelled good…and I’m a 29 year old! hahaha…

  15. PixieBassline says:

Nope. I have never wondered what Edward Cullen smells like.. Not once.

  16. BEE says:

I give props to Twilight for making their own perfume. At least they could have picked a different bottle design instead of using the same one as Nina Ricci….which is an awesome scent by the way!!

  17. Christie says:

    This is absurd.

  18. Panterasuno2 says:

Yea, we had it at Borders. (Went really quick too, oddly enough) Ours was only $24 tho…..still a bit much for something they never even sent testers with. Don’t want to by perfume without smelling it…..

  19. Desirae says:

IT SMELLS HORRIBLE, SERIOUSLY LIKE CHEAP HOOKER PERFUME LOL

  20. Michelle ma belle says:

Don’t get me wrong, I love Twilight (books and movie) but I really hate it when the marketing people go overboard on making random crap and then slap the name on it. Maybe it’s just me. It does however tend to make me like them less.
