David Beckham Scores For AC Milan Again
Unfortch, they still didn't win

After David Beckham thrilled Italian soccer fans in Milan by scoring one of the goals (his first for his new team) that led to AC Milan‘s big soccer win last weekend, Becks and the Milanos were back in action yesterday to take on Genoa in another soccer match. Becks scored AC Milan‘s sole goal of the game which, unfortch, did not win the game but did allow his temporary team to tie with their competitors. Here are a few pics of Becks in action yesterday afternoon:

David Beckham scored from a free kick with England coach Fabio Capello looking on but Diego Milito tied the game three minutes from the end and AC Milan settled for a 1-1 draw with Genoa on Wednesday. A victory would have put Milan into a tie for second in the Serie A standings with Juventus, which lost 2-1 to Udinese goals from Italy forwards Fabio Quagliarella and Antonio Di Natale. League leader Inter Milan won a drama-filled match 2-0 in Catania with 10 men. Midfielder Dejan Stankovic put Inter ahead five minutes in, heading in a cross from Julio Ricardo Cruz, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic made it 2-0 in the 71st minute, shooting into an empty net after Catania goalkeeper Benjamin Bizzarri misjudged his attempt to intercept a pass from Stankovic. Inter leads with 49 points, Juventus was next with 43, Milan 41 and Genoa 37. Also, Francesco Totti returned from injury and scored in AS Roma’s 2-1 win over Palermo, and Fiorentina took advantage of Napoli’s fourth-string goalkeeper in a 2-1 victory. Beckham’s second goal in two games arrived in the 33rd minute at San Siro, a trademark curling shot from the left of Genoa’s area inside the near post. Beckham is hoping to be called up by Capello for a friendly against Spain on Feb. 11 and equal Bobby Moore’s record of 108 England caps for an outfield player. Apparently bothered by a muscle problem, Beckham was replaced by Mathieu Flamini in the 71st. Beckham nearly scored in the opening minute, with Genoa goalkeeper Fernando Rubinho forced to push the former England captain’s shot wide. Beckham picked up a yellow card in the 30th minute for a foul, shortly before his goal. Beckham’s fellow midfielder Andrea Pirlo hit the crossbar twice with free kicks. Argentine forward Milito scored his 13th goal of the season from close range, although he may have been offside. “This was a misstep that I’m not pleased with,” Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “We weren’t able to win a game in which we played very well, and for what we did, we deserved to win.” Milan has not lost since Beckham joined the club on a two-month loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, winning twice and drawing twice. “I’m very upset because the team is going through a period in which everything is going right, but the season goes on,” Ancelotti added. Beckham has indicated he was considering staying with Milan beyond the loan period. “He’s appreciated and thought very highly of and if he stays we’ll be happy,” Ancelotti said. “But he’s got to resolve the problem with (the Galaxy).”

While I am very happy that Becks is doing so well with his temporary new team, I’m still really bothered by all this talk of “the problem” with the LA Galaxy. There is no problem. David Beckham signed a very lucrative contract (which allowed him to buy a new mansion, new cars, new tattoos and a very expensive purse for his wife Vicki B.) with the LA Galaxy to play soccer for the team for a set number of years. No problem. Should he wish to get out of his contract, which I’m not sure the Galaxy is at all interested in, I’m sure giving back the $50+ million he was paid would be in order. BUT, that is a discussion for another time. After the jump, check out a few more pics of Becks on the soccer field yesterday — celebrating his big goal …

I’m not sure if there were any ass grabs in celebration of Becks‘s second goal for AC Milan but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few booty smacks. Having seen what the lad looks like in his short pants, well, can you really blame his teammates for going for the grab at every opportunity? Congrats on your goal, Becks. But, I’d prefer if you got your buns back to SoCal where you belong :)

He always scores in my book and he could be a huge winner if he came and played with me!!!

  2. Kendra says:

He can’t leave the Galaxy yet! I just moved back to SoCal and haven’t been able to see him in action yet!! I think he’ll hold off on any move until I’ve seen him..He’s just nice that way..

  3. DJ says:

Yum. I like that he’s growing his hair again.

  4. Chase says:

I don’t get it. How come he’s been scoring over there but not over here? I remember when he came here there was so much hype for him and then his ankle injury and what not. Even though I love me some Beckham, he is pretty overrated as far as contracts go. He needs to score here, dammit!

  5. ANN SMITH says:

I’m sick of hearing about him

  6. Vlada says:

He’s playing better because he’s around better players, why do you think Donovan is also trying to stay in Germany. If he wants to play in the World Cup in 2010, he needs to be in Europe.

lol Trent his contract isn’t $50 mil, his salary’s around $5 million, the rest of the money comes from his shirt sales and his own endorsements. He also has an out clause in the contact so he can leave the Galaxy after this season.

  7. Irma says:

Vlada is right. He’s playing with the likes of Kaka and Pato so of course he’s playing much better. And his free kick was a damn good one too. Glad he’s in great form!!

  8. L says:

Sexiest. Man. Alive. He is a GOD

  9. Becky says:

trent, love, you should read up some on how football and player contracts work! like viada said, he doesnt get paid $50 mil for PLAYING, he gets paid for everything else…endorsements etc. also i can pretty but gaurantee galaxy has made more money OFF becks than theyve paid him. hes obv playing loads better in milan because he had better players to practice with and a real pitch instead of turf like in the states!

  10. wing says:

I believe Becks has more character than playing for money. With his calibre, he can still play professional (not those in the states) football till he’s 35. Becks alone can never lift the sports amongst the Amercians’ favs like baseball and ice hockey.

I wish Becks will stay in Milan and retire from football with glory.

  11. Bella says:

I wish he could stay in Milan. It would be much better for him as a football player. He’s too good a player to not play for a great team his last years before retirement :)

  12. Aliy says:

Why did he even come over here?
He played better when he was in Europe!
I think he did it for the money and sport or maybe it was too much hype and maybe he couldn’t perform.

  13. Mel says:

I think we all know that he belongs in Europe. He came here because he thought he wouldn’t be called back to the England National team when Mclaren kicked him out the show everyone the he’s “the man”. The fact that he’s back in the team and Capello appreciates what he adds to the team gives him a real shot at the world cup.

I think the real deciding factor is if Posh is willing to uproot the kids for his short stint in Milan. The Galaxy should let him go, once he’s had a taste of Europe again he’s not going to be happy in the MLS especially if Donovan isn’t there.

  14. Chris says:

A little soccer lesson: Beckham has two jobs: free kicks and playing midfield. Free kicks are like US football extra points, except the goal is on the ground and turned 90 degrees. He does this incredibly well, re: “Bend It Like Beckham.” However, opportunities don’t happen all that often, and there’s a line of people trying to stop the ball. A midfielder doesn’t usually shoot/score-he gets the ball to the forwards who do. If the Galaxy’s forwards can’t score, there’s only such much Becks can do. Team sport, remember.

  15. Pam says:

Well, contracts and passes of football players are not like having a contract with a tv show or stuff like that. Stuff like this happen all the time and it is not seen as a breech of contract or anything of the sort. Teams lend players to one another, they buy players and pay half the contract with another player and the other half money, lost of things happen. I love football but it is quite crappy how the trade players like cards, but they dont mind, tons of money involved.
I know that Milan is desperately trying to keep becks there, and becks is a european player, he belongs there. There is such a big difference between european football, latin american football and football in the US. Football is just starting to gain popularity in the US, I have watch several games (specially Culumbus Crew cos Guille Barros Schelotto used to play for Boca Jr in Argentina, my team!) and it is still so different from the way we play here and the way they play in europe, becks beliongs there.

  16. Milanista says:

Yeah a player being bought by another club while still under contract with a different club is fine so long as both clubs & player agree all the terms & fee etc for doing so. Plus some contracts (and I assume Becks would have done this) have all sorts of get out clauses so the player can move on if it doesn’t work out or a bigger club comes in or something. Stay at Milan Becks, it’s where you belong!

  17. Robin says:

Agreed with the others – some research on football contracts would probably help :) Beckham should stay in Italy; he’s clearly getting back to his old potential!

  18. Aaron says:

I agree with the others. He need’s to stay there he’s playing so well with other world class players, a world class player with a world class team.I think his move to America too increase Football’s following was a good idea, but I think after the game’s he’s played for AC Milan and how well he has performed he has a better future there. After all all he did at Galaxy was travel the world, be freinds with Tomkat and be talked about on the Daily 10 about what he was wearing.
