David Beckham Plays His First Game With AC Milan
The newest Milano in action

The freshly tattooed David Beckham made his game debut with his temporary new team AC Milan as they played a match against Hamburg SV in Dubai earlier today. As you may recall, Becks made his way to Dubai last week to begin training (that almost killed him, it seemed) with his new team in preparation for the new European Soccer season which gets underway this month. Here are a few pics of Becks, wearing the black and red of AC Milan, on the fields of play in Dubai during an exhibition game earlier today:

David Beckham had a quiet debut for AC Milan on Tuesday, exiting at halftime before the club beat Hamburg 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. The former England captain, on a three-month loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, was greeted by a huge ovation before the exhibition match. Playing in a largely defensive role in midfield, Beckham displayed a few good touches with his famous right foot before being replaced by Mathieu Flamini. “Felt just like when I was at (Manchester) United, they had families here sitting with the kids and it brings back memories,” Beckham said. “It was exciting for me. Penalties aren’t the best way to win a game, but I’m glad that we won. AC Milan works very hard and I love working hard.” Ronaldinho gave Milan the lead from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute, but Collin Benjamin scored from close range to tie it five minutes later. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti substituted for Beckham because of a lack of match fitness. “I think 90 minutes would have been too much for him because he hasn’t played for over two months,” Ancelotti said. “Beckham is obviously not playing at his best because of the absence from competitive action, but this last week was very good for him and I’m sure he can be better. “He is tactically a sound player and he plays for the team and was always making himself available during the match.” The 33-year-old Beckham’s one mistake came on a back pass to Paolo Maldini that was intercepted by Hamburg’s Ivica Olic, who had only goalkeeper Dida to beat before being brought down by Maldini. Beckham had a chance to score on a 39th-minute free kick, but his effort was headed away by the Hamburg wall. Mladen Petric of Hamburg missed an unmarked header in the 85th minute.

HMMMMMMMMMM … this sounds exactly like the way things go down when Becks plays here for the LA Galaxy. Lots of cheering and love from the crowd, a lackluster bit of running around on the field and then a quiet exit from the game before the end of play. I suspect it can’t be easy for Becks to just fit right in with a new team immediately but he does seem to need a lot of warm up time before he can actually be of any use to his soccer teams. Even tho this was an exhibition game, I would’ve liked to have seen the soccer stud shine a little more. His family, tho, I’m sure were very impressed with his performance … each member of his immediate family (ie. Victoria Beckham and sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz) were all in attendance at today’s game. After the jump, check out a few pics of the Beckham bunch in the stands in Dubai earlier today …

David Beckham made his debut for AC Milan today – as his supportive wife Victoria watched from the stands. Standing in the Emirates Seven Stadium in Dubai would have been a significantly warmer experience than the chilly terraces at Manchester’s Old Trafford that Posh used to stand in during the early days of the couple’s relationship. Wearing his new number 32 red and black shirt, David showed off his skills as he played in a friendly match against Hamburg SV. Watching in the stands was a dressed-to-the-nines Victoria, in a figure-hugging black dress and their three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. David only played the first half of the friendly match, but made a good impression with the Italian press. David is currently on a three month loan to AC Milan from LA Galaxy to keep up his fitness levels ahead of the Spring World Cup qualifying matches. Despite Victoria and their children’s presence at the game today, she will be a rare attendee at David’s AC Milan games. In a bid to avoid disrupting their sons’ schooling, Victoria will continue to live in Beverly Hills while David resides in Italy. The news will disappoint the paparazzi hordes – and the club’s WAG contingent. At AC Milan’s annual dinner in Dubai on Saturday, David explained why he would be living separately from his wife. “Everyone knows how much I love my wife and my children, but at the same time I love football,” he said. “My children will remain in Los Angeles due to school and Victoria will remain with them … Victoria will come back once or twice a week to be with me and spend time in Milan, so I’m very excited about that. Of course it’s difficult being away from my family but my children have to be settled and they go to school in Los Angeles so it’s important they carry on their way of life.” David missed New Year with his wife and their three sons, to join AC Milan at their Middle East winter training camp.

I’m sure it’ll be very difficult for all members of the Beckham brood to endure this 2 month stint that Becks will be doing with AC Milan but I’m sure they’ll get thru it fine. I don’t imagine that the kids will be flying all around the world very much to see their daddy play but I’m sure Vicki B. will do her best to be around as much as possible. It remains to be seen if Becks will be up to snuff to wow the Italian fans with his soccer skillz … to do so, he’s gonna have to turn in better performances than he’s been providing for the LA Galaxy. We shall see …

Those colors look FANTASTIC on him. I think he looks better wearing less but for some reason those colors pop on his hotness!!!

There’s a little punk feeling to His Hotness running around in those stripes – mmm – exponentially ups the hot factor. WOWeeee!

  3. Chris says:

Soccer is very much a team sport. Takes a while for everyone to figure out how a new person plays, and capitalize on their strengths.

Arian – I LOVE Fernando Torres! He’s so talented, when he’s not out with injuries of course, and just so damn cute! But I don’t think anyone could beat Beckham in the looks department..He’s just perfect, IMO..

  5. Germaine says:

I personally do not think the ovation they had in Dubai was for Beckham. There are so many more talented (and HOT!) footballers in AC Milan that are much much better than beckham.KAKA and PATO especially!!

Okay…explain something to me…if this guy is so fucking great, how come all these teams end up getting rid of him?
Does this mean he’s not playing for LA anymore? Or are the seasons different in the US? I know nothing about European football, so this is very confusing to me. But seriously…England gets rid of him….then Spain…now he’s in Milan? Who’s he going to play for next, Bora Bora? Uzbekistan?
