Dakota Fanning Expresses Her Interest In Appearing In The ‘Twilight’ Sequel
Late last week we learned that Dakota Fanning is in reported talks to appear in the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon and today we have a bit of confirmation that the talks are underway. People magazine reports that Dakota believes that it would be a “fantastic experience” for her if she were able to secure a role in New Moon:

Dakota Fanning is ready to bare her fangs as vampire Jane in the Twilight sequel New Moon. “I really hope it works out,” Fanning, 14, told Hitfix.com while promoting her current thriller, Push. “It would be a really fantastic experience, I’m sure.” Just last week it was reported the young star was offered the role sans audition because director Chris Weitz is so confident that Fanning is right for the part. Talk about a perfect fit: A member of the deadly Volturi, the Jane character is described in a casting notice as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face [and] crimson irises.” If everything falls into place, Fanning will join returning stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. Filming begins in March in the U.S. and Italy, with New Moon set to open in November.
OK, so at this point we know that A.) the negotiations for her to play Jane are underway and B.) that she wants the role. Methinks the role is hers if the money is right. I understand that these negotiations usually come down to the money … and Dakota Fanning is already a big name (relative to the other actors thus far cast in Twilight and New Moon) so she’s gonna need a bit o’ change to sign on. Something tells me that they’ll pay up … for the most part, reaction to Dakota playing Jane has been really positive. I suspect we’ll hear an announcement soon (again, if the money is right) that the part is hers.

Everyone on the big LJ communities for Twilight have been predicting this since before the FIRST movie was even cast. She was everyones first pick too. So I’m glad to see it’s more than likely going to happen. They’d definitely shell out the cash for Dakota. I think she’d make a phenominal Jane.

jadedkitten….money is money! I mean Dakota is good actress but I mean if she is the one showing intrest then she should go for it. I know alot people want them to cast no name actors but sometimes you need a familiar face too…

When did she grow up?? I still think of her in Man on Fire (I think that’s the name – the one with Denzel). Seeing her grown like this makes me feel old…

i think she’s starting to look too old. a few years ago would have been perfect. we’ll see……..

She is adorable. But about the money..you never know. Some established actors accept less money for a project that they feel passionate about.

Is it just me, or does she look a little like the girl from Heroes in that first picture? (Yes, i realize I’ll probably catch shiz for not remembering her name…)

i cannot believe she’s only 14. would’ve never guessed it

she is so gorgeous now after her awkward phase. go girl!
January 26th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
i still think its a bad to bring in a big name to the series..it did just fine without household names. and im with Tiffany..she looks to old to how i pictured Jane…IMHO.

omg i LOVE dakota!
she’s so down to earth and a amazing role model.
she’ll be perfect as jane!

Man she grew out of that awkward phase fast. She looks amazing. It’s so great to see a young actress looking and acting age appropriate. Stay sweet Dakota!

I think she’s a bit too old for the part but I guess they could make it work on screen and she is a really great actress. I just hope they don’t blow their bigger budget paying people like her to be in the movie when it should go to better special effects this time around. I mean, if they’re true to the book Jane’s role should be nothing more than a cameo so whatever they invest in Dakota should be proportional to how much she’s actually in the movie. Although if they get her, they’ll probably change things around so she’s in the movie more…

I really like her as an actress, and I hope she gets the role..I can’t wait for the movie to come out..
January 26th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
Shes growing up so fast. It makes me feel old. lol

Can’t wait for her to make a sex tape, when her career hits rock bottom, something tells me that she’s a screamer. And I want to hear the screams of an angel!

Yay for Dakota not looking like a gremlin anymore! She was some kind of serious fugly. Kinda like the Olsen twins as babies (but not monkey like). Its good to get that stage out early so you can look good when you get caught buying drugs by age 15.

See I look at her as too young to play the role. All of the Cullens have this allure about them where they can totally look their respective ages (late teens/early-mid twenties) and yet at the same time can also pull off looking like mature adults when they need to. It’s all part of their mask. I look at Dakota Fanning and I still see the kid in her, which maybe is because we literally watched her grow up on film. Still though I’m concerned that she has Jane’s youth but won’t be able to pull off the maturity that you get from being undead for hundreds of years. I guess we will see

you have been writing this website for years now and you still dont know how hollywood works? How clueless can you be?-…its not about the MONEY..she wants the role and the amazing exposure,,,, she wiould do it for free….Dakota knows they dont need her…..New moon will be huge even if she is not in the movie..and she is not a box office draw…..clueless TRENT as usual.
February 6th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
@sillytrent — “she would do it for free” — LOL! yeah, that’s how Hollywood works. it’s never about the money. LOL!
February 8th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
She looks 2 young!!!!! She still looks 5 yrs old!
February 13th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
