Angelina Jolie Wore Her SAG Awards Dress Backwards
Very attentive fashion watchers noted that Angelina Jolie, wearing a lovely blue dress from the Max Azria Spring ‘09 Collection, appeared to have worn her dress backwards this past weekend when she attended the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Today, US Weekly reports that Angelina’s stylist, Jen Rade, admits to the mag that yes, Angelina wore the dress backwards and did so purposely. Uh huh. Here are pictures of Angelina on the red carpet at the SAG Awards this past Sunday evening and of a model wearing the very same dress properly (ie. not backwards) on the runway this past September at NY Fashion Week:
Blogs have been buzzing that Angelina Jolie wore her cornflower blue Max Azria gown backward at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. Well, she did. Her stylist Jen Rade tells Usmagazine.com Jolie purposefully turned around the dress — which was from Azria’s spring 2009 collection — to make it “more blouson.” (The actress was also able to show off her tattoos more.) sked about getting ready, Jolie told E!’s Giuliana Rancic: “I just like to be comfortable. I see what comfortable options are out there.”
Um, right. I mean … I suppose this explanation makes sense but are any of y’all buying it? Doesn’t this wearing one’s dress backwards thing remind you of anyone else who already tried to make this look work?
I mean, if I were Angelina, I wouldn’t want people thinking I copied Céline Dion either so I might have my stylist come up with a rational explanation too! I suppose, in any event, Ange still looked nice in her dress … even if she wore it wrong. She did show off her beloved tattoos and looked good in the process so … no harm, no foul. At least it gives us something else to talk about … rather than the fact that she keeps losing all of her award nominations, that is. I can’t wait to see what outfit she decides to wear to the Academy Awards next month … and whether she’ll wear it frontwards or backwards. Mebbe she’ll wear THIS dress? It’s sure to cause a sensation whichever way she wears it :)

I agree with Mr. Gyllenhaal, it does look better backwards, and Angelina doesnt usually show cleavage so it makes sense. She is so gorgeous and always looks so fab that it doesnt matter if it was backwards, she is the one making the dress look good and not the other way around.

Agree with posters saying dress is ugly either way. I am also copletely over Angelina. I never saw the appeal, and she really has a bad attitude now. i give her credit for her pretty good acting, for adopting kids, and doing all her other work but let’s get over her already!

It’s funny– there was a show on either HBO or Shotime after friends staring Lisa Kudrow as a tv actress making a comeback (duh), and she gets a dress to wear to the emmy’s from the first winner of project runway– and she ends up wearing it backwards on the red carpet by accident.

christine i couldn’t agree with you more. i think she’s an ok actress and personally she’s done a lot of good, but wtf is up with her attitude. every time she’s interviewed lately she comes off looking like a stuck up beeyatch who’s too cool for school. and why is it that she’s allowed to show up for awards/events looking like she put in zero effort and no one calls her out on it. fine, you have a zillion kids and don’t give a crap what you look like. but its an awards show – at least pretend like you care about the industry that got you where you are.

@Nicole, you are SO right on..Her last 3 looks are totally similiar..Boring..And I think she’s looking sickly skinny..I’ve never been a fan of her acting, but I’ve always thought she was gorgeous with a banging body..Now she almost looks anorexic..I’d understand if she was always this skinny, but she used to have some meat on her!

Kinda snarky to talk about how she isn’t winning awards. Bottom line is that she was nominated. That is truly saying something, considering that there were countless other actresses that were not. In no way can she, or other actresses who aren’t winning awards, be considered as being a “loser”. She is in a very small group of actresses who were deemed worthy. Give her some credit for that.
This goes for the actors as well.

Well, Celine is less of the visionary since the Smoking she wore was designed to be worn backwards by John Galliano for the spring/summer Dior collection of 1999. It wasn’t Celine’s idea.

Smoking hot, I could not care less if her clothes are on backwards. Does not change the fact she is stunningly beautiful and attractive. Her personality is amazing as well.

SO WHAT?! Angie’s NOT the first to do something different to a designer gown/dress… A lot of runway clothes (to me) look like they’re worn backwards & yet they’re thousands of dollars & purchased!

While Diana, Princess of Wales was still married to Charles, she was well known for altering her clothes & jewelery. Example: a diamond & emerald choker meant to be worn around the neck was converted to a headband; she also wore real gems with costume jewelery.
