Morrissey Gets Nekkid For His New Single

It should be noted his disc is a 7"
Friday, January 30th, 2009

Pink readers LyndyLoo and Mark have alerted me to the fact that Morrissey (alongside the lads in his band) has decided to appear nekkid on the innersleeve artwork of his new single I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris. Wearing only 7″ records (ahem) to cover their willys, Moz and his boys seem pretty proud to show off their stuff:

I gotta admit … I likes what I see. While the dudes in Mozzer’s band (well, except for the guy directly to Moz’s left) have pretty nice bodies to show off, I’m most impressed with Morrissey’s sexy bod. As the elder statesman of mope/shoegaze rock, I think he has much to hold his head up and be proud of. After the jump, check out the uncensored semi-NSFW full size single artwork …

Aretha Franklin’s Hat Makes History

Bow down to the bow, bitches!
Friday, January 30th, 2009

Aretha Franklin’s now world-famous Inauguration hat, created by Detroit milliner Luke Song, is on the verge of making US history. The Smithsonian Museum is requesting that Aretha donate her amazingly fabulous hat so that it will be enshrined for all time as an artifact in a new exhibit to immortalize President Barack Obama’s historic inauguration. If Aretha complies, it will be showcased alongside First Lady Michelle Obama’s Inaugruation dress in the Smithsonian exhibit:

Michelle Obama’s now-famous Jason Wu gown isn’t the only piece of Inaugural fashion that is headed for the Smithsonian. The museum is also requesting the now-iconic hat that Aretha Franklin wore while singing at the swearing-in. Aretha, however, is still undecided about parting with her Luke Song-designed hat. “I am considering it. It would be hard to part with my chapeau since it was such a crowning moment in history,” says the Queen of Soul. “I would like to smile every time I look back at it and remember what a great moment it was in American and African-American history. Ten cheers for President Obama.” Aretha’s hat has already inspired a line of toppers, recreating her custom version in different colors and bow size. If Franklin decides to donate the hat to the museum, it will become part of an exhibit of President Obama’s Inaugural display along with Michelle’s gown.

I think y’all know that I am a HUGE fan of this hat and I would LOVE to see it enshrined in the Smithsonian … and I bet I’m not the only one, either:

I haven’t been to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC since my 10th grade school trip back in the day. If this hat goes on display, I would make the pilgrimage to our Nation’s Capitol to see it in person. I doubt the museum would allow visitor to try on the hat but I’m hoping one day to place this hallowed piece of fabulosity on my head. If not the real thing, I’d settle for a reproduction. That is one photo I hope to share with the world one day.

Aussie Olympian Matthew Mitcham Does ‘The Advocate’ Magazine

Oh, yes, he does
Friday, January 30th, 2009

Holy hotness, Batman! Australian Olympic Diving Gold Medalist, Matthew Mitcham, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of The Advocate magazine. Towleroad offers up a preview of the Aussie’s insanely killer magazine cover even tho neither the coverstory article nor the rest of the mag’s photos have been made available just yet. Feast your eyes on Mitcham’s pretty stunning coverphoto:

Here’s an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming issue of The Advocate which features a stunning set of photos and profile of Australia’s gay gold medal-winning Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham. Mitcham talks of the dive that was the highest-scoring in Olympic history: “I remember the things that I was thinking on the platform before the dive, and I remember what happened as soon as I hit the water. The dive itself is a bit vague. It felt good, although I wasn’t exactly sure. I did wait underneath the water a bit, thinking, I wonder…I wonder…I wonder… Then I popped my head out and the crowd was going wild…It was the most far-out experience. It just completely took me over and I just lost it.” He also talks about recently accepting Australia GQ’s Sportsman of the Year Award. “I think the last thing I said onstage there was, ‘Oh my God, I’m a homo and I just won the sports award.’ People just pissed themselves and thought it was hilarious.” Photo by Adam Pretty. The issue hits newsstands next week.

Wowzers. Swimmers have, like, the sickest bodies around … and Matthew Mitcham is a very good ambassador for hawt swimmers the world over, don’tchathink? This coverphoto is just … wow. I can’t wait to see the rest of the mag’s photos from this coverstory. After the jump, to tide y’all over ’til the other photos make their way to the Internets, check out a couple photos of Mitcham from the last time he appeared within The Advocate’s pages last August

Ali Lohan’s ‘Extraordinary’ Photo Shoot

Lindsay's little sister is all growed up
Friday, January 30th, 2009

Ali Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s 15-year old little sister, was spotted braving the bitter cold in Times Square in NYC yesterday as she posed for a photoshoot with photographer Jonathan Ressler. Ressler, who is photographing women for his Extraordinary Women project seems to think that A.) Ali is extraordinary and B.) that she is a woman. While each of those assertions is up for debate, the photoshoot took place yesterday anyway:

Referring to his Extraordinary Women project, Ressler posted this message from author Jodi P on his website:

This will explain, as you view Jonathan Ressler’s portraits, the wide range of women – all ages and professions. Some are used to having the camera turned on them, for others, this was a novel experience. As for me, I was expecting a traditional photo shoot – like the others I’ve had done for author photos on my novels. What I got, instead, was a chance to climb a tree wearing a ballgown…and to see myself in a way I’d never imagined – as someone natural and beautiful, through and through; someone who fits seamlessly into the world around her, so that she can chronicle it for others. I looked at that first Polaroid, and I realized that Jonathan had captured, in one instant, what I strive for every time I write a novel. It is said that art is that which moves us to tears and joy, and changes something deep within, so that after we experience it, we’ve discovered a facet of ourselves we did not know existed. Jonathan Ressler’s photographs are ideally suited to this definition: a visual representation of the mark these women have left on the world, as framed by the eye of an expert.

Having looked thru Ressler’s online photo album, I can see that he is a very talented photographer. I’m not at all sure what qualifies 15-year old Ali Lohan as an “extraordinary woman” but to each his own.

In other Ali Lohan news, there has been speculation that Ali was planning a move to LA to live closer to her sister … according to Ali’s publicist, those reports are untrue:

Ali Lohan continues to be home-schooled on Long Island and is not moving to Los Angeles to be closer to sister Lindsay, despite reports to the contrary, her publicist said yesterday. A story in the Feb. 9 Star magazine says Lohan, 15, recently registered at a private all-girls school in Syosset, but may never “walk their halls” because she “loves the lure of fame out West.” Nuh-uh, says the Merrick teen’s rep: “Ali continues to be schooled at home and is building her career.” Ali Lohan, who starred with mom Dina in last year’s “Living Lohan,” has been photographed in Los Angeles this month with Lindsay. That, apparently, was a vacation – not a relocation.

I pass this information along for those of you who have been staying awake nights fretting over Ali’s living situation. Yes, I’m talking to you Michael Lohan. Rest easy, Ali plans to stay put in Long Island, NY … at least for the time being.

Britney Spears’s Album ‘Circus’ Goes Platinum

1,000,000 sold and counting
Friday, January 30th, 2009

Rolling Stone magazine is reporting that Britney Spears’s latest album Circus has just been certified Platinum, which means that at least one million copies of the album have been sold in just the US alone:

Platinum was the theme of the week as Britney Spears’ Circus, Nickelback’s Dark Horse, Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak and the Twilight soundtrack all crossed the million-selling plateau on their way to charting at three through six, respectively.

Woot! Congrats goes out to our dear Britney on her latest Platinum Album accomplishment. Circus is a great disc, I’m very happy it has finally reached this plateau. Could 2009 turn out to be an even bigger year for Britney? I say, YES! I can’t wait to see what’s to come. Love and congrats again, Brit Brit!

Last Day Of Bachelorhood

The TV Guide
Friday, January 30th, 2009

Welp … today’s the day … my last day of solo-living bachelorhood. Earlier today, David packed up all of his stuff in NYC and had it loaded onto a truck which is currently in its way here to SoCal. Today is the last day that we will be living apart from one another. Wow. It feels really exciting to type that sentence out :) Remember that cool photo of David and his desk that was published in The New York Post earlier this week? Yeah, it’s already been loaded up and is making its way here:

David will be spending his last night ever in his amazing West Village apartment and then early tomorrow morning he will be flying out here so that we can spend our last night together in my apartment before we move into our new place on Sunday. Man. I’m so freakin’ right now. Exciting times ahead. We are at t-minus 2 days … it won’t be long now.
