Kingston James Has Got A New Ride

Bad to the bone
Monday, January 12th, 2009

It looks like Brad Pitt isn’t the only celeb in Hollywood showing off his hot new ride on the streets of SoCal these days … little hellion Kingston James McGregor showed off his new bike as he stepped out to enjoy the California sun with his parents, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, and his little brother Zuma Nesta Rock yesterday afternoon … behold:

Yeah, those wheels look like they could get Kingston into a whole messa trouble. How long ’til you think the little guy’ll face his first run-in with the law?

MTV’s ‘The City’ Brings The Drama To The Beach

Lights! Camera! Suntan Lotion!
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Whitney Port and her on-screen (off-screen?) Aussie love interest Jay Lyon made their way down to Miami Beach, FL this weekend for a little holiday … and they managed to bring the MTV cameras along with them, imagine that! Here are a few pics of Whitney and Jay gettin’ up close and personal on the beach this weekend:

The captions on these photos list the girl that Whitney is talking to as Olivia Palmero but after zooming in for a closer look, I do not believe that this girl is Olivia. We may have to wait until this particular episode airs to find out who Whitney and Jay are hanging out with. Oh and at first, I was gonna comment on how awesome Whitney’s DVF bag looked on the beach until I realized that it’s actually an H&M bag — you gotta love that Whitney is both fashionable AND frugal. Nice to see that Whitney and Jay are still together at least for this upcoming holiday together … I wonder what drama will unfold in this upcoming ep of The City.

Gisele Bündchen & Tom Brady Are REALLY Gettin’ Hitched

After a false alarm last month, Tom finally pops the question
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Last month, just after Xmas/just before New Year’s Eve, TMZ erroneously reported that Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady got engaged to be married while flying on a white roses-laden private plane from New Jersey to Boston, MA … a report that was immediately debunked by members of the couple’s family who were in the know and denied that any engagement took place on Xmas Eve. Today, People magazine is reporting that AT LAST the couple have finally, really gotten engaged after Tom proposed to Gisele over the weekend … they’re really gettin’ hitched, y’all!

Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady are making some major post-season plans after getting engaged in Los Angeles over the weekend, PEOPLE has learned. The New England Patriots quarterback, 31, proposed with a diamond solitaire to the Brazilian supermodel, 28, on Friday. “He asked and she accepted,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. Family and friends were informed over the weekend. An official announcement, as well as preliminary wedding details, are being planned by Bündchen and her closest friends this week. “The couple is discussing a huge fashionista event in the spring or a more intimate and quicker ceremony in Costa Rica, where Gisele has a home,” the source adds. While engagement rumors flew – and were denied – before Christmas, the January engagement will mark the first marriage for both. Bündchen’s agent told PEOPLE, “We don’t comment on our clients’ private lives.”

I really hope that People magazine got it right this time, cuz another false engagement report would be a bit too much to handle. As I said before when I thought the couple got engaged last month, I am thrilled for them both. They make a ridiculously handsome couple and I’m sure they’ll be very happy with one another in wedded bliss. I honestly never thought the couple would be able to keep their relationship going after Tom became a father after he broke up with Bridget Moynahan … I thought, for sure, Gisele would run for the hills and away from motherhood. I’m very happy to know that I was wrong. Congrats to the happy couple, here’s hopin’ they tie the knot sooner rather than later … I can’t even imagine how stunningly beautiful Gisele Bündchen will look in her wedding dress.

GWB Gives His Final Presidential Press Conference

Admits mistakes, tries to be funny, doesn't envision himself retiring on a beach
Monday, January 12th, 2009

George W. Bush gave his last ever press conference as President of the United States this morning and in an effort to leave office as positively as possible, lightened up a bit in the press corps conference room. Thruout the course of his last press conference this morning, GWB admitted that there were mistakes in his presidency as well as jokingly tried to curry favor of the assembled news reporters. It was the last sight of him behind the Seal of the office of President of the United States that we will ever see from the White House Press Corps Conference Room:

President Bush admitted mistakes but defended his accomplishments in the final White House news conference of his presidency Monday. “Clearly, putting a ‘Mission Accomplished’ [banner] on an aircraft carrier was a mistake,” Bush said about how his administration handled the fall of Baghdad to U.S. troops. “It sent the wrong message.” He termed other aspects of the U.S. invasion of Iraq “disappointments,” including the failure to find weapons of mass destruction and the treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. “I don’t know if you want to call those mistakes or not, but they were — things didn’t go according to plan, let’s put it that way,” Bush said. Admitting another mistake, Bush said that he should have pursued a comprehensive immigration overhaul after the 2004 election, instead of Social Security reform. He said that Congress did not have the political willpower to tackle Social Security at the time because the program was not facing an “imminent” funding crisis. But Bush said plenty went right during his eight years in office, including the economy for most of his term. “I inherited a recession, I’m ending on a recession. In the meantime, there were 52 months of uninterrupted job growth,” he said. “And I defended tax cuts when I campaigned, I helped implement tax cuts when I was president, and I will defend them after my presidency as the right course of action.” Bush also said that despite harsh criticism at the time, the federal government responded well to Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2005. “Don’t tell me the federal response was slow when there was 30,000 people pulled off roofs right after the storm passed,” he said Monday. “Could things have been done better? Absolutely. Absolutely. But when I hear people say the federal response was slow, then what are they going to say to those chopper drivers or the 30,000 that got pulled off the roofs?” he asked. Bush was steadfast that his administration did the right things in protecting the homeland from terrorists, even though critics said individual freedoms were compromised by administration policies. “In terms of the decisions that I had made to protect the homeland, I wouldn’t worry about popularity. What I would worry about is the Constitution of the United States and putting plans in place that make it easier to find out what the enemy is thinking,” he said. The 43rd president says he doesn’t buy allegations that America’s image overseas has been tarnished during his terms, even if his popularity has suffered. “My view is that most people around the world, they respect America. And some of them don’t like me — I understand that — some of the writers and the, you know, opiners and all that. That’s fine. That’s part of the deal. But I’m more concerned about the country and — and how people view the United States of America. They view us as strong, compassionate people who care deeply about the universality of freedom.” Bush said that as a “Type A” personality, he’ll want to keep active after he turns the White House keys over to President-elect Barack Obama next Tuesday. “I just can’t envision myself, you know, the big straw hat and a Hawaiian shirt sitting on some beach,” he said.

That he would still defend the response from the US government after the detestation of Hurricane Katrina is just sickening. At this point, manning up and admitting that – under his leadership – the government failed the people of Louisiana would go far in repairing his image, I think. To contend that the response was “not slow” is just idiotic … but I really don’t want to get into my personal beliefs on the matter for fear of going off on a tangent about his other leadership failings. Instead, I think it’s a better idea to look ahead toward a more hopeful future full of promise and opportunity. Our country is facing the worst economic climate since the Great Depression and will not be getting better any time soon BUT we are fortunate to have have new leadership on the way that, I’m sure, will work tooth and nail to get our country back on track again. I know things will not change over night when we swear in our new President but the hope that he brings to the office will go a long way to help steady the country thru the tough times ahead. In just 8 days, President-elect Barak Obama will become our 44th President of the United States of America … IMHO, the future looks brighter than ever.

The 66th Annual Golden Globes Are Handed Out

Big night for 'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'John Adams'
Monday, January 12th, 2009

The Hollywood Foreign Press handed out the 66th annual Golden Globe awards last night at the famed Beverly Hilton Hotel and a Who’s Who of Hollywood’s elite came out for the grand affair. As you may recall, the Golden Globe Awards were not held last year because of the Hollywood Writers’ Strike so many celebs were geared up to strut their stuff on the red carpet last night. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

There were quite a few fashion disasters on the red carpet last night and I’m convinced that many of the folks who made their way down the red carpet were totally loaded. I watched NBC’s red carpet coverage and was aghast at how horrible the whole thing was. Not only did Nancy O’Dell look like she had a mop afixed to her head but she and her interviewer cohorts were simply HORRENDOUS as they interviewed the celebs:

If you watched the show, you know exactly what I’m talking about. But, once the show got underway and the awards started to get handed out, things leveled off and got sorta interesting. In the end, the Hollywood Foreign Press saw fit to bestow HEAPS of awards on Slumdog Millionaire (in the Film categories) and John Adams (in the Television categories). Here are a few pics from the press room and a rundown of what went down last night:

The movie “Slumdog Millionaire” emerged as the big winner at the 66th Golden Globes late Sunday, scooping four awards to underline its credentials ahead of next month’s Oscars. Late Australian actor Heath Ledger earned a posthumous Golden Globe for his performance in Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight” while Kate Winslet won two awards for best drama actress and supporting actress. But, ironically, on a star-studded night in Beverly Hills, it was “Slumdog Millionaire” the rags-to-riches love story about an orphan who fights his way out of Mumbai slums on an Indian television game show. The film — featuring a cast of virtual unknowns — won best drama and also picked up honors for director Danny Boyle, as well as honors for best screenplay and best music. Sally Hawkins also won the best musical/comedy actress award for her performance in the light-hearted Mike Leigh film “Happy-Go-Lucky.” The 32-year-old actress beat favorite Meryl Streep (”Mamma Mia!”), Frances McDormand (”Burn After Reading) and fellow Britons Rebecca Hall (”Vicky Cristina Barcelona”) and Emma Thompson (”Last Chance Harvey”). After a disastrous event last year that was reduced to a celebrity-free zone by the entertainment industry’s writers strike, this year’s Globes red carpet read like a who’s who of the movie industry’s A-list. Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio were just a handful of the A-listers in attendance at the Beverly Hilton. Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes — which are chosen by around 80 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — have separate best picture awards for dramas and musicals. In the past four years the Globes have failed to accurately predict the best picture winner at the Academy Awards but overall, some 67 percent of Oscars best picture winners had first received a Golden Globe. As such the Globes are seen as an important staging post ahead of the Academy Awards, offering clues to which films will be successful at the Oscars, which take place at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater on February 22. The acting awards on Sunday saw Australian heart-throb Ledger honored as expected for his portrayal of arch-villain the Joker in “The Dark Knight.” Director Christopher Nolan accepted Ledger’s award, saying the actor’s death at the age of 28 had “ripped a hole” in the future of cinema. “All of us who worked with Heath on ‘The Dark Knight’ accept this with an awful mixture of sadness but incredible pride,” Nolan said. “For any of us lucky enough to work with him, I think for any of us lucky enough to enjoy his performances, he will be eternally missed, but he will never be forgotten,” he added. The victory cements Ledger’s status as the odds-on favorite to win a best supporting actor Oscar at next month’s Oscars. The other big winner in the acting categories was Winslet, who scooped best actress in a drama for her performance in “Revolutionary Road” and best supporting actress for “The Reader.” Winslet, 33, who had been overlooked after five previous nominations, was overcome following her double win, apologizing to her rival nominees and thanking “Revolutionary Road” co-star DiCaprio. “I’m so sorry, Meryl (Streep), Anne (Hathaway), Kristin (Scott-Thomas), the other one… Angelina (Jolie)!,” Winslet gasped. “Thank you so much… thank you soooo much!,” before adding to longtime friend and fellow “Titanic” star DiCaprio: “I love you with all my heart, I really do!” It was only the third time in Golden Globes history that an actor or actress had been honored with two awards on the same night. In the men’s acting categories there was an emotional victory for Mickey Rourke, who won best actor in a drama for his heart-wrenching portrayal of a washed-up prizefighter in “The Wrestler.” “This has been a very long road back for me,” said Rourke, whose career nose-dived through much of the 1990s after an ill-advised spell as a professional boxer. Rourke — who famously has a pet chihuahua — also paid tribute to canine friends who had comforted him over the years. “I’d like to thank all of my dogs, the ones that are here and the ones that aren’t here anymore because sometimes when a man is alone, that’s all you’ve got is your dog, and they meant the world to me,” Rourke said. Rock star Bruce Springsteen won for best original song for his theme song for “The Wrestler.” But it was a disappointing evening though for Brad Pitt and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” which had started the night with five nods alongside “Frost/Nixon” and “Doubt”. All three films came away empty-handed.

Poor Brangelina … they walked away from the Golden Globes with nothing but a free meal and prolly a very nice giftbag — that’s it! And, to add insult to injury, Angelina got called “the other one” by Kate Winslet (which sounded an awful lot like when John McCain referred to Barack Obama as “that one” during one of the Presidential Debates). Tsk tsk. Neither The Curious Case of Benjamin Button nor Changeling have done very well at winning awards thus far, have they? HMMM. I am SO thrilled that Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up last night … truly an underdog film that is worthy of the praise and accolades it continues to win. If you’ve not see the movie yet, I urge you to do so before the Academy Awards are held next month … you don’t want to miss out. I was happy, too, that Heath Ledger won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in The Dark Knight. I really hope he is on track for an Oscar, he really deserves the win. Props to Kate Winslet for being the first person to ever win both Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress awards in the same year (I understand that has never happened before). I’ve only heard amazing things about The Reader and Vicki Christina Barcelona … so I am now on a mission to see those films (as well as The Wrestler, which I’ve been dying to see anyways) as soon as I can. I really enjoyed this year’s Golden Globe Awards mostly because so many small, relatively unknown films did so well. It gets kinda boring when the usual suspects (ie. big, blockbuster A-list celeb movies) win all the awards … it’s nice to see the talented little guys get their time in the sun. Next up, Oscar noms which come out next week. How many of last night’s winners do you think will get tapped for Academy Award nominations? Also, what did you think of last night’s show … good, bad, you’re over it already?

Newlyweds Fergie & Josh Duhamel Jet Off On Honeymoon

Destination: Unknown
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Yesterday we learned that Fergie Ferg and Josh Duhamal were happily married in a semi-private wedding ceremony in Malibu, CA Saturday evening and today we get to see a few pics of the newlyweds as they made their way thru LAX Airport here in SoCal on their way to enjoy their honeymoon together. Altho the couple (very wisely) have no revealed where they are headed (it is said they are bound for some place “tropical”), I’m sure they’re going to have a great time … possibly makin’ babies:

After leaving their Malibu wedding party after 2 in the morning Sunday, Fergie and her new husband – the freshly minted Mr. and Mrs. Josh Duhamel – left that same afternoon for a tropical honeymoon. The newlyweds arrived at Los Angeles International airport around 2 p.m., with the bride dressed in high-waisted jeans with gold buttons, blue boots and a blouse, while her groom kept it casual in jeans with sneakers. The Black Eyed Peas singer, 33, and the Las Vegas actor, 36, had tied the knot at the Church Estates Vineyards in Malibu. At LAX, Fergie showed off multiple plain and diamond studded wedding bands. “They pulled up in a limo SUV, and Fergie got out first and smiled. She looked so happy. After Josh got out with a carryon bag, he immediately grabbed Fergie’s hand in a very loving and protective way,” one eyewitness tells PEOPLE. “Fergie said that the wedding was amazing before Josh chimed in and added that the wedding was great.” Asked if she will have any kids soon, Fergie said jokingly, “I’m pregnant with twins.” The observer added, “Both said they really looked forward to their honeymoon. While making their way through airport security, the newlyweds waved to several fans.”

Woot! I love that Fergie pulled the, Oh, I’m brushing my hair out of my eyes and am inadvertantly flashing my bling bling. Yeah, I’m pretty sure these two are planning to spawn pretty soon. They’ve been together for so long and she’s worked really hard in recent years, I would not be surprised in the least if Fergie were planning to pull a Gwen Stefani and have herself a couple of babies in between upcoming solo albums and albums with the Black Eyed Peas. I’m sure that baby makin’ with Josh Duhamel is a treat in and of itself. Congrats goes out to the happy couple again and here’s hoping they have themselves a kickass honeymoon!!

Taylor Lautner Shows Off His Buffed New Bod

Got yer tickets to the gun show?
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Access Hollywood ran into Taylor Lautner, who has recently been announced as Jacob Black in the Twilight movie sequel New Moon, at a Golden Globes gifting suite this weekend and spoke with him on camera about securing the role he originated in the first movie of the Twilight Saga. Firstly, AH asked Taylor to confirm on camera that he did get the role and then the topic moved on to all the bulk he supposedly put on in order to prove to New Moon producers that he is the right man to play Jacob Black in the upcoming sequel:

According to Lautner, he claims that he put on 20 pounds of muscle in the weeks leading up to the announcement that he got the part (he asserts that he “started working out the day after [he] finished filming Twilight) and has since put on 6 more pounds of muscle … so the interviewer asked him to show off this new bulk and Taylor obliged. After the jump, check out a few screencaps of Taylor Lautner showing off just how hard he worked out in the gym in order to retain the role of Jacob Black and watch his video interview in full …
