Jonathan Rhys Meyers Partied ‘Til He Pooped

One too many champagnes, JRM?
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Ruh roh … it looks like poor Jonathan Rhys Meyers partied a wee bit too much during last night’s various Golden Globes festivities … the poor lad had to be helped to his car by a kind friend of his, behold:

Yikes … can you imagine what the poor guy might’ve looked like if he had actually won and had cause to celebrate? HMM, I guess he was drowning his sorrows or something. Well, better luck next Awards show, JRM.

David Beckham Makes His Italian Soccer League Debut

Helps AC Milan tie AS Roma 2-2
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Earlier today we got to see a few photos of Victoria Beckham and the Beckham boys doing a bit of sightseeing in Rome, Italy but that wasn’t the big outing for the family this weekend … the Beckham bunch were in town to watch David Beckham make his Italian Soccer League debut as he joined his temporary new team AC Milan in a soccer match against rivals AS Roma. The good news is that Becks managed to turn in a pretty solid performance for 89 of game’s 90 minutes, the bad news is that neither team won. Meh. At least neither team lost either … here are a few pics from this weekend’s game and a rundown of the game’s highlights:

The crowd of 53,444 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Sunday was not there to see David Beckham. The fact that the Galaxy midfielder was making his Italian league debut for visiting AC Milan was acknowledged, but the home fans were more concerned about the continuing struggles of their own team, AS Roma. As things turned out, the crowd went away satisfied. AS Roma grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half, was overwhelmed for a while early in the second half and fell behind, 2-1, but then recovered to earn a deserved 2-2 tie. And Beckham? Well, the England international, who is on a two-month loan to Milan from the Galaxy, also came out of it just about all square. He did not look out of place in the No. 32 shirt, starting and playing for 89 of the 90 minutes, primarily in a defensive midfield role. On the other hand, he did not provide the sort of spark that Beckham fans had perhaps hoped to see. Beckham took most of the corner kicks for Milan and a few of the free kicks. His trademark deep crosses were not much in evidence, however, and when he did curl the ball into the Roma penalty area, defenders were almost always there to head clear the danger. Beckham took one shot on goal, an effort that appeared to be going wide right but which was snagged anyway by Doni, Roma’s Brazilian goalkeeper. Afterward, Beckham pronounced himself satisfied. “I thought it was great, I enjoyed it immensely, I was surprised to start the game,” he said. “Of course, I’m still working on my fitness, but I felt good, better than I thought I would in the game.” The 33-year-old said his intention while in Italy was “to play as many games as possible and work on my fitness and just be part of AC Milan. I feel very lucky.” Carlo Ancelotti, whose Milan team is in third place in Serie A, nine points behind leader and defending champion Inter Milan and five points adrift of second-place Juventus, had suggested Saturday that Beckham would not start. “Beckham is ready to play even though he’s been inactive for two months, but it’s difficult to start him in the match against Roma,” Ancelotti said. By Sunday, however, the coach had changed his mind and Beckham, looking confident and comfortable, walked onto the field to take his place in midfield alongside 2006 World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo of Italy and former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf. He settled down quickly — not surprising considering the quality of his teammates.

Well, so far so good … the fact that his performance was pretty even keel says something (that he’s not washed up). On a field with so many amazing players, the fact that Becks was able to hold his own is a good sign that AC Milan might get some good play out of him. His 2 month stint might do much to help him improve his game WHEN HE RETURNS TO SOCAL TO PLAY FOR THE LA GALAXY later on this year … that’s really what’s important to me ;) Congrats goes out to Becks for his solid effort this weekend … lessee if he can up his game in the next match-up.

The Oohlas Release A New Song, New Music Video

"You will go out on adventures"
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Woot! My fave LA band The Oohlas have just released their new music video for their brand new single Adventures which will appear on their upcoming new EP titled Chinchilla (due out soon). The Oohlas‘ debut album Best Stop Pop was one of my fave albums of 2006 and this is their first batch of new music since. Check out the video for Adventures:

Their song Small Parts was featured on the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack but I think that Adventures would work so well on Gossip Girl or MTV’s The City. I really wish more people were able to hear music from The Oohlas because their tunes are sooo damn good. I’ve been listening to Adventures all day long … it’s really infectious. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the tunes off the new EP!

Vicki B. & The Boys So Some Sightseeing In Italy

When in Rome
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Here are a few photos of Victoria Beckham with her sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz enjoying a lovely afternoon of sightseeing in Rome, Italy over the weekend. The family made their way to Italy so that they could be with daddy David Beckham as he played his first game with AC Milan on Italian soil … check ‘em out:

You may recall when last we saw the family all assembled they were in Dubai where Becks was playing his first-ever game with AC Milan but, as you can see, they’ve made their way a bit closer to Becks‘ temporary new home in Italy. I totally LOVE that VB is actually taking photos of her sons with the cheesy Roman centurions near the Colosseum in Rome. We never really get to see her being so … human. It’s a nice look for her, I think. Honestly, tho, I think I’d much prefer to see VB in the centurion helmet … with those shoes, she could totally rock it right.

Vanessa Hudgens Auditions For The ‘Twilight’ Sequel

Wants to play Leah the female werewolf
Monday, January 12th, 2009

Now that the matter of who will be playing Jacob Black in the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon has been settled (and how!), the focus can now turn to other roles in the film. I’m pretty sure that all of the other actors who had roles in the Twilight movie (ie. the Cullen family) will be coming back to reprise their roles but there are a few new characters not introduced in the first movie that have to be cast for the next movie. It turns out that Vanessa Hudgens, of High School Musical fame, has already auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater, who plays the Twilight Saga’s sole female werewolf. If she gets her way, she will be among the new castmembers joining the Twilight Saga — BE WARNED! The following report contains SPOILERS that may ruin your New Moon experience if you have not read the books:

Now here’s a role Vanessa Hudgens would like to sink her teeth into. The High School Musical star has auditioned for the part of werewolf Leah Clearwater in the Twilight sequel New Moon, according to Ashley Green, who played Alice in Twilight. “I think she’d be great,” Greene tells MTV. As Leah, Hudgens, 20, would be a foil to Taylor Lautner, who will reprise his role as werewolf Jacob Black. In the Stephenie Meyer novels, Leah is her pack’s lone female werewolf – and a jilted one, at that. Unlike Hudgens’s Gabriella in HSM, Leah experiences heartbreak, being ditched by classmate (and fellow werewolf) Sam Uley.

HMMM … you know, I’m not immediately repulsed by the idea of Vanessa playing Leah in New Moon. Truth be told, I’ve never seen Vanessa Hudgens act so I can’t comment on that regard but judging by looks alone, I think she could play a respectable Leah Clearwater. I’m sure there are many diehard Twilighters who may balk at the idea of Vanessa joining the Twilight cast … but she will add some more starpower to the Twilight sequel. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen. I’m very curious to see if she manages to get the part … I guess I always figured they’d cast a newcomer but … HMMM. I may have to think on this some more. What do y’all think … could Vanessa Hudgens actually bring Leah Clearwater to life?

Home Is Where The Hauslaib Is

The TV Guide
Monday, January 12th, 2009

After my plans with Danielle fell thru last night, I met up with Steph and Alek to watch the Golden Globes at the last minute. The weather is so hot these days that we watched much of the Globes sitting on their balcony in the warm night breeze:

But after devouring a pizza, we came back inside for the rest of the night. We had a lot of fun making comments about the show, we were all generally really happy with last night’s winners.

And now … the news … I won’t play games and delay any longer, the big news (which some of you correctly guessed) is that David and I are finally moving in together when he relocates from NYC to LA next month (as in, a few weeks!). I drop off my first payments this afternoon on our beautiful and SPACIOUS new 3 bedroom condo in West Hollywood, CA. I was hesitant to say anything about our new place until it was a done deal, signed and sealed. I just didn’t want to jinx anything, our new place is really amazing! Folks, I finally have everything my heart has ever desired … two walk-in closets in a master bedroom ;) We take possession on the February 1 and hope to be fully moved in as soon as we can be after that date (just in time to celebrate our 3 year anniversary). There is a lot going on as a result but it’s all very happy and exciting news. Much love to all y’all who have been sending amazing messages to me over the past couple of weeks … it means a lot that so many of you have been so supportive, you guys are really THE BEST :) 2009 looks like it’s going to be the best year ever!

I’m sure I’ll have more info to share in the coming weeks … wish us luck, David and I are about to begin the next chapter in our lives together :)
