Here Is Your Chance To Play With Edward Cullen

Keep it clean, y'all
Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Now that the matter of Taylor Lautner retaining the role of Jacob Black in the upcoming Twilight sequel has been settled, we can move on to more pressing Twilight matters … like the Edward Cullen doll! Hot Topic, who brings us the official Twilight perfume, is offering the new Edward Cullen doll/action figure (depending on your gender) for pre-order for those of you interested in having your very own Edward to play with:

This Edward action figure features the sensitive vampire in his blue button-down shirt, jeans and grey pea coat. Beautiful articulation with movable limbs. Includes a Cullen crest. Imported. To guarantee arrival on or around 1/20, order by 1/13.

The doll/action figure is selling for $16.99 so ORDER NOW! See, what I don’t understand is why Hot Topic and the Twilight merchandising people waited until after Xmas to offer both the perfume and the doll … it makes more sense to offer them in time for Xmas shopping but, then again, rabid Twilighters don’t really need a reason to spend their money on this stuff. You deffo don’t want to be the last kid on the block to get your hands on one of these coveted dolls. I wonder if it’ll fit in a Barbie dreamcar/house? Anyone?

Jake Gyllenhaal Jogs In Santa Monica, CA

Yummo!
Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Halle-freakin’-lujah! Jake Gyllenhaal is back in SoCal (hopefully for good) and back on his regular physical fitness routine. Here are a few pics of Jakey poo as he went out for a nice jog in Santa Monica, CA earlier today doing his best to keep his hotness intact:

Thank you sweet baby Jebus for this, our bounty. Jake has been pretty much OFF THE PLANET for the past half year or so while he was in England filming the Prince of Persia movie. Popping up every once-in-a-while, we’d get to see that Jakey was still alive but he’d usually be in the company of Reese Witherspoon and, well, meh. But now that he has returned to his home here in LA (hopefully for good) we’ll be seeing much more of him out and about … and in various states of undress. Sure, Reese will most likely show up a lot too but the chances of us seeing him out alone will go up exponentially … like these pics today. Le sigh. It’s good to have him back.

Lindsay Lohan Shops Alone

Maintains togetherness with Samantha Ronson
Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Lindsay Lohan, who we learned earlier today is featured in the February issue of Interview magazine, spent some time in SoCal yesterday doing a bit of shopping … alone. After spending pretty much every waking moment together for the past few months, it’s a bit surprising to see Linds spend so much time away from her girlfriend Samantha Ronson … which, of course, fuels the fires of speculation concerning the status of their relationship. Here are a couple pics of Lindsay engaging in a bit of retail shopping all by her lonesome yesterday afternoon:

Now, just because she is shopping alone there is no cause to jump to conclusions … but, again, the girls have been virtually inseparable for so long now … mebbe this is a bit telling? At the very least, mebbe they’re just enjoying some space? Who knows. Later on in the day, tho, Linds and her sister Ali Lohan were seen making their way out of Samantha’s home with Sam coming out after. After the jump, watch a short video clip of Lindsay, once again, denying that L. Ron have broken up …

Jude Law & The Jude’stache Surface In Brooklyn, NY

Production on 'Sherlock Holmes' starts up again in the Big Apple
Thursday, January 8th, 2009

When last we saw Jude Law, his sexy ass was on holiday with his ex-wife Sadie Frost and his 3 children in Brazil (lookin’ totally hawt as he read a book poolside at his hotel) … but the vacay is over and it’s now time to get back to work. Production on the big screen adaptation of the Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes has moved to Brooklyn, NY this week as Jude (and the Jude’stache) were snapped on set in his Dr. Watson attire … behold:

He is SO the perfect Watson. And, I must say, the Jude’stache is lookin’ mighty nice these days. So glad that Jude shaved off the rest of the scruff that was accumulating on his face over the holidays … clean cut is best! I’m happy to know that Jude and the rest of the Sherlock crew will be a bit closer, at least for a little while, now that the movie production has moved to New York. I’m sure we’ll be seeing much more of Jude, the Jude’stache and prolly Robert Downey, Jr. (who is the star, after all) in the days and weeks to come … wee!!

Barack Obama Teams Up With … Spider-Man?

Spidey tapped to become the country's First Webmaster?
Thursday, January 8th, 2009

President-elect (soon to be President) Barack Obama is featured on a variant cover of an upcoming issue of The Amazing Spider-Man comic book in celebration of his upcoming inauguration as the 44th President of the United States of America. Since Obama collected the Spider-Man comics when he was a kid, Marvel Comics thought it was only fair to honor the soon-to-be new prez by putting him on the cover of his very own book … er, along with Spider-Man, that is ;)

Spider-Man has a new sidekick: The president-elect. Barack Obama collected Spider-Man comics as a child, so Marvel Comics wanted to give him a “shout-out back” by featuring him in a bonus story, said Joe Quesada, Marvel’s editor-in-chief. “How great is that? The commander in chief to be is actually a nerd in chief,” Quesada said. “It was really, really cool to see that we had a geek in the White House. We’re all thrilled with that.” The comic starts with Spider-Man’s alter-ego Peter Parker taking photographs at the inauguration, before spotting two identical Obamas. Parker decides “the future president’s gonna need Spider-Man,” and springs into action, using basketball to determine the real Obama and punching out the impostor. Obama thanks him with a fist-bump. Marvel comics have featured most presidents, but generally in walk-on roles, Quesada said. “I think President Nixon might have appeared on the cover, but not in a good way,” he said. Obama has said that as a child, he collected Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comic books. His Senate website used to have a photo of him posing in front of a Superman statue. The Obama story is a bonus in Marvel Comic’s Amazing Spider-Man 583, available in comic book shops nationwide on Jan. 14 for $3.99 and is expected to sell out, with half the covers devoted to Obama.

OMG, how awesome is this? The story sounds a bit cheesy but I love the fist pump and I love that Obama is honored in such a pop culturally way. While appearing on the cover of Spider-Man is kinda cool, Obama has already made his comic book debut. Before the election, over the summer, both he and Senator John McCain appeared in their own comic books that told their life stories leading up to the election. At this rate, Obama might get his own comic book series somewhere down the line ;) I already have my copy of the first Barack Obama comic book … but I’m gonna have to get my hands on this Spider-Man comic, too. Will I be seeing any of ya’ll at the comic book store come January 14?

Instant Gratification For A New Generation

The TV Guide
Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Sooo … things are coming along nicely for me these days, yesterday was a good day and I’m hoping to hear some good news soon. Once I get word, I can start sharing. I promise I’m not trying to be secretive, I’m just trying to be practical :) Also, a few Pink readers were getting bombarded with spyware popup windows when visiting the site … it turns out that a hacker had infiltrated one of the ad campaign scripts and was publishing the spyware on my site! It has been discovered and removed … so thank you for your patience. I will NEVER allow popup spyware on my site, so if you ever see something please let me know so it can be taken care of.

In other fun news today, I am heartened by the announcement from Polaroid that they are launching a digital version of their iconic instant camera. You may recall that the company released a portable mini photo printer that prints photos from mobile phone pics (via Bluetooth) a few months ago … and they’ve taken that idea to the next step:

From the press release: Today Polaroid announces the launch of the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera, the first digital camera and instant printer combination available in the U.S. and Europe that is portable enough to take anywhere. With the push of a button, consumers can select from among the digital photos on the camera, crop or edit them and in less than 60 seconds, print full-color, 2×3-inch prints – all with a single device. “This is the digital version of our traditional instant camera, which consumers have loved since the 70s,” says Jon Pollock, vice president and general manager, Digital Imaging. “With this product, Polaroid will bring the magic of instant photography to a whole new generation. It’s what consumers have told us they want – a fun, easy way to use a digital camera to print photos and share their memories instantly.” The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera is the second product in the Polaroid PoGo™ family of products. Like the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Mobile Printer, which hit store shelves in July 2008, the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera uses the same ZINK Photo Paper™ and ZINK™ Zero Ink™ Printing Technology from ZINK Imaging. ZINK™ Zero Ink™ is an ink-free printing technology which replaces ink cartridges or ribbons with ZINK Photo Paper™ – a composite material that has embedded, heat-activated dye crystals. Before printing, ZINK Photo Paper™ appears white like regular photo paper. Once the pictures are printed, they are immediately dry to the touch, durable and smudge and water resistant. The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera offers a full-feature digital camera with 100 percent inkless printing, 2×3-inch sticky-backed photos with or without fun borders and the advantage of reviewing the captured photos on a three-inch color LCD screen before printing. The instant digital camera measures 4.7-inches wide by 3-inches tall and weighs only 10 ounces. “Unlike traditional instant film, photos from the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera emerge fully developed,” Pollock says. “While many of our most passionate customers tell us ‘shaking’ a Polaroid photo is part of the fun, with any Polaroid photo, the ‘shake’ is totally optional.” The Polaroid PoGo ™ Instant Digital Camera will be available beginning in March 2009 at major retailers for a suggested retail price of $199. Ten-packs of ZINK Photo Paper™, which can be used in both the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera and the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Mobile Printer, retail for $4.99 and 30-packs for $12.99, and are widely available at national retailers everywhere.

While I am very encouraged by this new product, it will never take the place of the original camera and film. That being said, I am very interested in checking this new toy out for myself. Basically, they turned the mini PoGo printer into a camera and voila! — instant camera. I’m still crazy in love with my original Polaroid camera (and have been taking lots of photos lately) but I’m willing to give this thing a try. It looks cool, yes? We’ll see if it actually is worth the trubs.

Tonight, Darion and I have an event to go to in Hollywood … it should be lots of fun, but I don’t want to miss too much of the OU vs. FL game tonight … we’ll see how I marshal out my time. Tonight should be crazy fun … Go Sooners!!
