‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Premieres In Hollywood

The Home Stretch

Last night Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and many, many others were joined at Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, CA for the grand Hollywood premiere of the sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon. As you might expect, the premiere was a lavish and raucous event filled with hordes of screaming fans and the Twilight celebs on the red carpet eating up all of the attention. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals last night along with some deets on the event itself:

“Twilight” fans have taken over the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Thousands of fans filled the streets near UCLA on Monday, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite undead stars attending the evening premiere of “New Moon’ — the second film in the “Twilight’ vampire saga. Some “Twi-hards” — as they call themselves — arrived as early as Thursday afternoon to secure a place in line for tickets allowing them to watch the stars’ arrivals on the red carpet. The 800 available tickets were all distributed by Monday morning, but the line still stretched for blocks well after lunchtime. Nicole Zamora, 36, was sixth in line after getting to Westwood on Thursday afternoon. She and her three sisters wore “New Moon” T-shirts they’d made for the occasion and said they spent the weekend “reading, listening to the iPod and trying to sleep — anything to pass the time.” Christina Fuentes and four of her friends traveled from New Jersey for the “New Moon” premiere. The 24-year-old wore vampire teeth (“They just clip on,” she said) and carried a home-made sign that read, “We flew in from NJ! We’ve been camping out for three days just to see you!” She pasted her airline boarding pass to the poster as proof. They were number 313 in line, she said. The weekend warriors were rewarded with appearances by some “Twilight” stars. “Less than an hour ago we saw Peter Facinelli drive by on his Harley, looking hot,” said 19-year-old Kelley Metoyer, referring to the actor who plays the vampire patriarch in the series.

Metoyer had camped out with six friends since Friday Scores of other fans — mostly young women — crowded onto street corners near the Mann Village and Bruin theaters, where the premiere will be held. They sat on beach chairs, displayed homemade signs and wore T-shirts proclaiming their allegiance to Team Edward or Team Jacob — the handsome vampire (Robert Pattinson) and his werewolf rival (Taylor Lautner). Michelle Cueva carried a sign identifying her group as the “Twi-hard Grannies.” “We’re representing a different generation,” said the 38-year-old, who recently became a grandmother. She and her two friends said they “planned for a whole year” and took a vacation day from work to be part of the excitement, arriving in Westwood at 5 a.m. Monday. “You see it on TV, but to see it in real life, it’s crazy,” she said. “It’s worth it to have taken the day off.” Elizabeth Rios, 20, came to the “Twilight” premiere last year and won a spot on the red carpet. This year, she was on the sidewalk across the street from the theaters. “This is like three times as crazy as last year,” she said. But not everyone was excited about the “New Moon” premiere. “I’ve never seen so many Gothic 12-year-olds in all my life,” grumbled one man as he tried to make his walk through the crowded street. “New Moon” opens Friday.

LOL! I knew this premiere was going to be crazy but … wow … it sounds really crazy. I totally understand that some young women want to be part of the hoopla and choose to camp out for days to be a part of this craziness but I cannot, for the life of me, understand the fanatical mothers and grandmothers! I mean, seriously? You’re 50 years old and you want to fight for position on the sidewalk with a bunch of teenage girls just to get near a movie premiere? Really? That’s so weird. BUT … fans are fans, I suppose. After the jump, check out a couple pics of The Twilight Trinity posing for photos at the New Moon premiere after party …

Yeah, I bet these poor guys are really, really tired of all of this promotional craziness. My guess is that they have one more event to attend in NYC before the movie FINALLY opens in theaters on Friday. Are YOU ready?? The Twilight Saga: New Moon is almost upon us … at long last.

    Bahahaha

  2. Christine

Nice to see Kristin in abeautiful dress and the two boys in actual SUITS. Sounds like a crazy fun red carpet!

  3. Kendra

Who’s the guy kissing the blonde chick?

  4. Jenna

    @kendra that’s peter facinelli

  5. zoe

Trent, I walked by on Sunday…Some women had brought their children to camp out. I am not kidding. The little girls looked about ages 4-7. I honestly feel it is fine if you are a mom with an obsession, but to camp on the street with your child??
    @Kendra–Peter Facinelli

  7. Cristina

I’m with you, Trent – the first thing I thought of when I saw this blog post was how tired all of the actors must be of promoting New Moon!

@Kendra – It’s Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the series) and his wife, Jennie Garth (90210).

Thank you for sparing us the photos of SM on the red carpet. Her outfits are always beyond description. Well, a nice description at least.

    @ heather: soooo true lol.

I like Kristen’s dress! The gowns on her and Ashley look great. As usual, she changed into casual junk for the after party. Oh well. Still progress for her….and shes not frowning in the red carpet pic. I like the last one of Rob and Taylor laughing at each other her head haha.

Taylor Lautner FTW! And he’s not even legal yet. In five years…*sigh*

  11. I did not enjoy Ashley’s dress. Reminded me of a Prom outfit. And not in a good way. And the hair and the makeup. Just not feeling it.

Anna Kendrick isn’t in any of these pics, but I thought she looked awesome. Her dress was fantastic.

I think the guy talking about Gothic 12 year olds had just seen Stephanie Meyer. All one can say about her outfit is…. a world of no.

Robert looks kind of awkward in a suit. The rest of them look good :) I’m glad Kristen is starting to smile more in pictures.

XD I feel bad for anyone who wants to see a movie after this one comes out. They will have to wait in line with a bunch of excited screaming middle aged and young fans forever just to see their own movie(that you know, isn’t New Moon). Sad, sad stuff.

  13. Ama

Also, I just saw what Stephenie Meyer wore to the premiere. Wow. Lady really needs to dress correctly for her size and age, yeah? That dress wasn’t flattering on her figure or for my eyes.

  14. Kendra

Thanks for the info, peeps! His profile makes him look so young! And I was getting a Pink vibe from Jennie Garth, even though I knew it wasn’t her! Aaanywho, thanks for satisfying my curiousity!

  15. i just turned 40 and FAR from a ‘granny’ – i feel like i’m 25 compared to some of the Twilight Grannies i’ve seen :) I went to buy my little sister a “team Jacob” shirt and the people buying the Twilight merch were WAY older than me! now reading this i see that it’s not just in this area :) thanks for keeping us up to date Trent! we love ya!

  16. CHASE

Well, I got my grandma who is 64-years-old hooked on the series and she’s going to the midnight premiere. She isn’t exactly going to fight her way in line but I’m sure if someone pushed her or cut she would definitely say something about it. : )

  17. Jordan

I’m pretty sure the Twilight movies win the award for best looking cast EVER.

  18. patches

ugh, Twilight has ruined everything cool that once was of Vampires, i can’t believe you people go for this crap…

  19. Tiffany

Hey! I’m a 25 year old mother, not a 50 year old! I’m not going to beat down a teenager but it’s just the hype :p lol
