Great news for fans of the original version of Melrose Place and those new fans of the redux version … after initially turning down an offer to reprise her role as superbitch extraordinaire Amanda Woodward, Heather Locklear has finally agreed to appear on MP in the character that redefined the word “bitch” in the 1990s. Here is the full text of the just released press release announcement:
Heather Locklear will reprise her role as scheming vixen Amanda Woodward of “Melrose Place,” which airs Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on The CW. Locklear will make her debut appearance on the show Tuesday, November 17. “We’re ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to ‘Melrose Place,’” said executive producers Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer. “Heather’s involvement in the show is something we’ve been working on for some time as we couldn’t imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character’s inclusion.” Locklear joined the popular 1990s series of “Melrose Place” at the end of season one and stayed on throughout the series’ successful seven-year run. She joins original castmates Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bisset and Daphne Zuniga in the updated version for The CW.
As you may recall, Locklear turned down an offer to reprise her role because she felt it “didn’t make sense” for her to return to the show … something must’ve changed between then and now because it clearly makes sense for her to come back. My guess is that the price was right and Locklear finally decided she wasn’t getting any younger ;) I love the mixture of old characters and new on Melrose Place … this is great news! I already love the show … having Amanda Woodward back in the mix will make it all the better. I hope she will still wear those micro-miniskirts that she made famous in the 90′s … perhaps she can revive that fashion trend again.

I love Amanda!!! I am so glad she decided to give “Melrose Place” a second chance. She makes the show and without her it wouldn’t be the same.

@Smoo — I don’t think it’s bad … there’s only been 2 eps. MP plain SUCKED for a full season the first time around, I love the Who Killed S? plotline … I can’t wait to see what Locklear will bring to the mix.
I’m a HUGE BH 90210 fan, and the new version is so disapointing (although I still watch it… waiting for Annie to snap and I LOVE Silver). I think Melrose could be the hit they wanted 90210 to be, if they ax Ashley Simpson. Cute girl; lifeless character.

trent I’m surprised to hear you like the show, I think the writing and characters are really really really bad – can totoally see where all the cheesy storylines are going. And believe me, I’m not hard to please I watch and enjoy alot of guilty pleasures on CW, including 90210. But MP is just too bad to stomach, after 2 eps I give up i’m taking it off the tivo.
@beth — It does remind me of the original MP and I loved that show. I literally gasped out loud at the end of ep 2, I’m sooo hooked.
I’m glad she turned them down initially because the original plan was for her to be the body in the pool but I’m thrilled she’s returning now.

This is GREAT news!!! I think she is just what this new version needs. I know it’s only 2 episodes in but im not loving it just yet but I’m sticking with it. Unlike Vampire Diaries…I couldn’t make it through the 2nd episode.
As long as I don’t have to read/listen to “The Bitch is Back!” 8920349283409234 times a la Kristin Cavallari’s return to The Hills.

No Trent! I’m suprised the majority likes MP! Much like Beth, I took it off my Tivo after the second ep. The storyline with that doctor/call girl was soooo lame. 90210 is much better in my opinion. With Amanda back though, I might give it another chance.

@Frisa — I dunno but my guess is they won’t be bringing her back unless she will be in UBERBITCH mode. I wouldn’t be surprised if Peter (Jack Wagner, who currently stars on the Bold and the Beautiful) came back with her ;) OMGI’MSOEXCITED!!!

Trent….I’m so with you. After the second episode I was hooked. The ending had me spechless. I saw the preview for next weeks and I have tio tell yopu they are reeling me in more and more. Amanda is the icing. Hurry up November 17th.
Hope Heather Locker’s return can save the show….this show has been great so far, and last night’s episode was the best yet. I couldn’t believe it when I read on Perez Hilton that the ratings are taking a big dive which is so stupid because this show is just getting better…so come on people stop being so LAME!
I was so glad they had Taryn Manning guest star last night – love her! She even pulled a gun on Jonah as they played the Boomkat song “Run Boy” – it was so great. There’s some videos of Taryn and company doing dance rehearsals for the Melrose Place episode floating around on YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Im5HQAO5yM ). Makes me so envious of her dancing…*sigh. Bring Taryn back for more episodes and let’s make Heather a full-time, permanent cast member again!
