David Beckham Shows Off His New Tattoo Of Roses

Earlier today we learned that David Beckham recently got a new tattoo inked onto his arm in celebration of his 10 year wedding anniversary with Victoria Beckham. During his interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning, Becks revealed that he had 10 roses tattooed around his arm … one rose for each year he’s been married to Vicki B. Here is what Becks’s new rose tattoo looks like:

David Beckham was obviously keen to show off his new tattoo. Dressed in a sleeveless vest which revealed his toned biceps, he posed for the cameras as he returned to the pitch for the first time for team LA Galaxy following his loan to AC Milan. But with his body already covered in numerous inkings only the most eagle-eyed of fans would have spotted the newly added ‘ring o’ roses’ on his left arm. As with many of his etchings, there is a romantic reason behind them – each rose symbolises a year of his marriage to wife Victoria. Beckham is said to be planning a pair of ‘tattoo sleeves’, covering his right and left arms. And the new roses will certainly help the 34-year-old on the way to his goal. The rose tattoo was acquired recently as they were not visible when Beckham starred in his recently unveiled advertising campaign for Emporio Armani. The new ink comes after the couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on July 4 with a luxury getaway to a private island in the Seychelles. While Victoria may be pleased with his latest romantic etching, David was said to have caused angry scenes when he ignored his wife’s advice and added a biblical proverb to his arm. The design – created by Beckham’s regular artist Louis Malloy – was a Hebrew translation of ‘My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart.’ It accompanied another Hebrew phrase on the same arm which reads: ‘I am my beloved and my beloved is mine’. But a source said: ‘Victoria doesn’t think David should have any more tattoos and tried to stop him having another. She likes them but wants a bit of his skin to be left, but David went ahead with it anyway.’

Aww … what a cute gesture. While I personally think that Becks should prolly cool it with the tats, I find it hard to believe that his wife VB has any problem with his decision to get as many tattoos as he likes. The couple made it thru 10 years together … which is a very good indication that the couple will be together for many more years to come. I don’t really love the roses … do you?

tats are hot on him. not many men can pull off full sleeves and still look good. but he can – so i say go for it.

  • Meghan

@Nicole. I agree. It is hard for a man to have full sleeves and not look trashy, but on Becks they are very sexy. Maybe it’s the black and white, but it works.

  • Lauri

I love the roses! I think it’s a good way to group the tattoos on the bottom of his arm. Beast Alanis’ tiger at least…

  • oh mi gawd, caleb is gonna be so jealous his twin got it first!!!

  • Shazz

I love the tat, and the meaning behind it.
Tattoos really work for him, he looks fantastic.

  • Lulu

I’m not a big tat fan, but I really like them. Finishes the arm off nicely :)

  • Anno

Nope – way too busy looking. Much prefer a single, stand-out tattoo. More than one is fine, just not overlapping. To each his own.

  • meh

eh too many tats. he’d look better with more bare skin showing.

  • PixiesBassline

Roses???? Uhg… Big cheap WHOOP-TEE-DOO. BLech, even. ANYTHNG but barbed wire, rebel flags or ROSES!!!
NOT that his other tats really impress me all that much… I’ve just seen so much WAY BETTER, WAY more original tattoos on people who aren’t famous…. He should go ahead and get a dragon, a unicorn, a butterfly and some dice, so he can be even more cliche. Roses? Come on!!!
Okay… now that I’ve bitched about his tattoos, I’ll say that I know it’s his body and his right to get whatever he wants on him… even if a billion other people already got the same thing.. from flash off the walls. Who knows.. maybe it’s a tribute to someone named Rose… or maybe Posh likes roses… Bleh.
Oh – there IS one thing I like about his tats – he has a lot that are just blackwork or greywash…. I like that..

  • Francesca

I’m glad he hasn’t coloured them all in – I’ll say that much. I also think it’s a nice idea but I really don’t like tatoos on ANYONE; even Becks will not change my mind.

  • Lis

The sentiment behind the roses is really sweet! The roses look nice albeit a bit dark. I definitely agree with @ Nicole.

  • Lula

He doesn’t have a full sleeve on that left arm- there is nothing above the roses. Wonder what will be next…..

  • pixie

Black and Grey not black and white.

  • Illise

God no i hate tat sleeves he is hot but he has too much tattoos i loved him when he was in manchester united

  • dgrin

sorry..not feeling the tattoos (on anyone)…especially when they get “old” and look like that…he should also stop doing that constant squinky face..too much sun damage too…nevertheless the recent pictures from their vacations were hawt, lol…

  • nae

i personally LOVE tats….but i don’t like the roses. the sentiment behind them is sweet, but probly could have gone w/ another representation other than roses. he’s still damn hot though! =]

  • Kendra

I think he’d be hot no matter what, but I think the tattoos add to his hotness!

  • Sarah

I love tats!, I think its sweet that he expresses his feelings through permanent body art :)

  • Shelly

He needs to stop tattooing himself before his whole body will be covered. Not attractive.

  • sheryl

awww…that’s just the sweetest thing, but i also agree that too many tats isn’t so attractive..
