‘Inglourious Basterds’ Releases A Newer Poster

Apparently Brad Pitt isn’t the only basterd of note to be featured in the new Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds, due out later this year. As you may recall, on Sunday we saw the first character poster from the new film which features Brad Pitt as a basterd … today we get to see the second character poster which features director/actor Eli Roth as a basterd:

Basterds (misspelling intentional), as you may or may not know, were a group of Jewish-American Nazi hunters who were dispatched after WWII to track down the war criminals … it turns out that these particular hunters had a penchant for scalping and/or beheading the Nazis that they found. I was totally unaware that Eli Roth (who famously made the films Cabin Fever, Hostel, Hostel 2 and Death Proof/Grindhouse with Tarantino) was A.) an actor and B.) appearing in this film. Something tells me that he’ll be able to pull off the part, tho. I’ve met Eli a few times and he’s a really great guy … I’m really looking forward to seeing him in this role (he’ll be playing Sgt. Donnie Donowitz). The more I read about this film the more intrigued I become. I might have to check it out when it opens this August.

The only movie I like of his was Cabin Fever. I liked Grindhouse/Death Proof but it was just marketed really, really bad.

Ack! I can’t wait for this movie!! X3

If you didn’t know Eli Roth was an actor, rewatch DeathProof. He has a funny/dorky small role at the bar towards the beginning of the movie :)

    • @zachary — oh right, but i figured that was just a one-off acting thing he did.

  • I have a soft spot for Eli despite his giant ego. My favorite thing he’s ever done was the hilarious “Thanksgiving” trailer from Grindhouse (Google it as long as you have a strong stomach), which he’s planning to expand into a feature film. “Inglourious Basterds” also looks like lots of fun.

@It’s Trent, Bitch! — I thought that, too. I guess he just likes acting for Tarantino!

I cant wait to see this movie!! Does anyone know why they intentionally misspelled the words?

I haven’t been to see many brad pitt films, but I like tarantino’s kill bill and I think eli roth has a way with setting a mood( he definitely isn’t a bad scene setter and story teller) this movie does sound captivating.

Groan. Eli Roth is about as good an actor as Quentin Tarantino.

I really wish QT had higher aspirations than making authentically cheesy drive-in movies.

I met Eli Roth briefly at the New Beverly movie theater in LA a while back. Really nice guy. Took time to take pics and chat with everyone. Not too bad on the eyes, either. ;)

Tarantino is a mastermind – he really is a visionary artist.
I’m glad but somewhat upset at the limited films he has directed. Not like he needs to direct film after film to prove his talent – Pulp Fiction does that in only a few hours.
But I’m glad he didn’t sell out to direct all these films and earn all this money. I like the way he takes years of studying and production with writing and making his films. He is probably my favourite Director. Especially when he tackles on foreign projects such as Hero with Jet-Li to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.

However i hate that fact that he only does a film every so often and makes me wait ever impatiently. Kill Bill ALL THE WAYYYY!

Basterds is a remake, actually, so QT is just putting his spin on someone else’s story.

Eli Roth has appeared inn small parts in a few movies he also had the part of the creepy stoner guy in Cabin Fever. Quentin and Robert are like old Hollywood where they like to surround themselves with people and work them into every movie they do.
