MTV Releases New Promo Pics For ‘The City’
'City' search

MTV has updated the official website for their new series The City and has released a bunch of new promo pics of the new cast as well as bios on each of the cavalcade of characters. Here is a new promo photo of star Whitney Port and her core group of new NYC BFFs … kinda like her Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag but are named Erin Lucas (right) and Olivia Palermo (left):

Geeze … Erin and Olivia even kinda look like Audrina and Heidi. As you may recall, when The Hills started out, Lauren LC Conrad was supertight with Heidi and Audrina … and then, well, the drama happened. I suspect that these new ladies will prove the same sort of foils for Whitney in her quest to become a city girl. It’s a proven formula that works … so, why not. After the jump, check out a bunch of individual promo pics of the whole cast of The City, including the dudes who will be helping these ladies will all their dramatic needs …

From the press release: It’s a new job, new dilemmas and a new city for Whitney Port in MTV’s reality series “The City” premiering Monday, December 29 at 10p.m. ET/9p.m. Central. In the first two episodes airing back-to-back, Whitney leaves the “The Hills” and the familiarity of California behind to strike out on her own for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work at global design house Diane Von Furstenberg in New York City. With a best friend from her past and a guy she’s head-over-heels for, Whitney will balance a new circle of friends as she navigates the fashion industry’s upper echelon. She is ready to put everything on the line for the chance at a new life but chasing dreams in the Big Apple won’t be easy. In a city full of people with their own agendas, who can Whitney trust? In the series premiere, Whitney arrives in New York City during fashion week just in time to start her career at DVF as an image coordinator. As she embarks on a new job and a new romance, she’s invited to an “uptown” dinner party by her coworker only to find out that her “downtown” boyfriend wants no part of that world. In the second episode airing at 10:30pm, Whitney’s world is turned upside-down when a boy from her past warns her that her new boyfriend may be cheating, and while she doubts his motives she wonders if it’s the truth. As everything around Whitney changes, brand new characters will join her as they learn together that sometimes the bright lights of Manhattan can blind you to what’s real. In addition to Whitney Port, the cast of “The City” is:

Erin Lucas, 24 – One of Whitney’s best friends and her closest NYC confidante. Erin is a downtown party-girl who loves life and isn’t looking to settle down. Why date one, if you can get away with more? The one person Whitney can call a friend upon her arrival, Erin will help Whitney navigate the dating scene of New York City.

Jay Lyon, 24 – An Australian musician and the new love in Whitney’s life until a face from her past threatens to end their romance just as it begins. He adores Whitney but with so many temptations lurking around every corner of New York City and newly out of a long-term relationship, can he step up and become the man that Whitney needs?

Olivia Palermo, 22– A native New Yorker and girl-about-town, Olivia is a socialite who knows New York City from top to bottom. Her A-list lifestyle is a glamorous mix of society parties, charity events, celebrity galas and her own get-togethers for her fashionable friends. A public relations coordinator and Whitney’s co-worker at Diane Von Furstenberg, climbing fashion’s corporate ladder might not allow them to be both colleagues and friends.

Adam Senn, 24 – A restaurant owner and model from Texas, Adam is Jay’s best friend and roommate. Adam is completely devoted to his model girlfriend who travels the world constantly, but when she’s away, Adam finds out the hard way that the pressures of balancing love and success in the big city can quickly build.

Whitney fans who can’t wait until December 29 can head over to http://TheCity.MTV.com to browse through exclusive new cast photos and bios, watch the show trailer and get the latest “City” gossip on the Remote Control blog. After premiere, “City” devotees can log on to watch full episodes, get episode summaries and view photo flipbooks. Through M.MTV.com, MTV Mobile will give fans on-the-go the “City” scoop from weekly episode guides and polls to full episodes and photo galleries.

The other brunette chick is Samantha and she’s a model but her bio was not included in the press release. This may be an oversight or a hint at what’s to come. As disappointed as I am with the way The Hills has stopped trying to be a reality program, I am intrigued by this new show. At the very least, it’s a new beginning that will, hopefully, provide us hours of entertainment. While some claim that The City will be the new Sex and the City, I don’t really believe it … I’m sure there will be amazing fashions and lots of drama but I don’t think it’ll be as smart as SaTC was and is. I guess we’ll see when The City premieres on MTV on Monday December 29.

    ^ totally agree maggie!
i thought she was shamed in NYC for being a try-hard socialite and went to hide in LA after the whole “socialite rank” debacle!
