Morning In The Big Top
So … because Good Morning America tapes live here in NYC from 7 – 9AM guests for this morning’s show had to be in the tent at Lincoln Center by 6:45AM. David and I had a difficult time waking up, getting ready and getting out of the apartment … we were up before the sun was. But once we got uptown to the Big Apple Circus, we were rearin’ to go. The tent was full of really excited fans and you could tell that everyone was really looking forward to seeing Britney Spears perform. We were told repeatedly before getting inside the venue that if we were seen taking photos we’d be removed … but as soon as we all got in, the cameras came out and there was nary a word said. Here are a few pics that I managed to snap from my seat:

When Mama Lynne Spears, Bryan Spears and the little ones Sean Preston and Jayden James came in and took their seats the place went wild. Little JJ was waving to people in the crowd, it was really cute. Despite what some folks continue to say about Britney’s performance, I can assure you it was very cool to see in person. Every single person in that Big Top tent had a blast … it was electric. I’m very much looking forward to seeing Britney out on tour next year. Here are a few pics of David and me with the signs they handed to us as we entered the tent and a pic with Pink reader Michael who I got to meet this morning:

I also got to meet Joe, Julie and Meg as well this morn … it was a pleasure meeting you all :)
Again, I have no interest in arguing with people about what they think about Britney Spears and what she gives or doesn’t give them or what she offers and doesn’t offer them. I’ve been a fan from the beginning, I’ll be a fan til the end. I dunno why that makes some people so angry and negative. If they aren’t diggin’ what she’s doing, I don’t get why they have to be so vocal in their displeasure. I’m not sure who they’re trying to convince … mebbe themselves? In any event, I’m glad that things are going so well for our dear Britney Spears these days. Even tho some folks take issue with her music she still manages to get to #1. Even tho some folks take issue with her live performances she still manages to win huge ratings for her TV appearances. Even to some folks claim her upcoming tour will be “boring” or whatever she still manages to sell thousands upon thousands of concert tickets. I’m happy to support her and will continue to do so. It’s gonna be a great year ahead, I can already feel it.
Tonight, David and I are taking his sister Eden out for an early birthday celebration (she turns one year older tomorrow) … we hope to make a great night of it, it’s my last visit to NYC until after Xmas.

You said it beautifully for all of us who have been defending you and Britney in the comments. :)
Keep doing what you do and loving what you love.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Trent, don’t ever stop your TV guides. I love them! It’s one of the best parts of the blog :)
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I mean I understand where you are coming from Trent, but you are very vocal about how you feel about her. Can’t the rest of us be free to express our opinions whatever they may be? Isn’t that the point of comments?
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I love the pics of her babies.. they r adorable.. and look like her.
kevin who?

Canadian critics hate it!
The two remarkable things about Circus — the deluxe edition has bonus tracks and a DVD — is, one, how ordinary Britney Spears is.
She has a pleasant voice but is not a great or distinctive singer. There is little character here.
Circus is well-considered and manicured pop music but primarily anonymous, though occasionally it refers to the turmoil of a private life gone public, obsessively so.
The other thing is how Circus is a building block to an astonishing comeback. The suggestion is that if you are pathetic long enough, sympathies will turn in your favour. Spears hit bottom and the public cheered as she got up. Good for her. The media rarely are so charitable.
That’s where the well-considered bit comes in. Spears couldn’t afford to make any further mistakes, so Circus might make a joke about how her life has become a circus — which is made clear by the cover art and a poster — but it’s a safe record.
Circus gets off to a strong start with “Womanizer.” Nothing that follows is as powerful, but somebody must be choosing good songs for her.
She doesn’t seem bright enough to pick them on her own. In fact, Spears comes across as stupid and lacking insight.
“Womanizer” is the kind of track Giorgio Moroder might have produced with Donna Summer or Debbie Harry. Synths dominate and it veers propulsively toward disco. Not retro but sounding old-fashioned — even classic — anyhow. It sets the tone for a record Spears can’t match.

Tracy – there is no problem with personal opinion, and we all know Trent has no problem with that, but this is HIS blog. if he wants to write about Britney or pigs, or flowers day in and out, he can. He isn’t trying to convince you otherwise, I think it’s the comments that are just downright mean that are uncalled for. If people don’t want to read about Britney as much, then skip over it. I’m not a fan of The Hills, so I always skip over it. People need to remember that this is TRENTS BLOG, not theirs. Express your opinions, but there is no need to be hateful or mean.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Wow!! The boys are so cute!!!
the real Britney is back, that’s just great!!!
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:50 pm
I love Britney and I love reading about her on this blog.
There are a lot of haters, but two times more lovers.
She’s not perfect but there must be something to her if she’s the most famous person on the planet.
anyways, i think it’s really cute that her whole family came to support her :)
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Well said, Trent!!!
Isn’t it funny that the same people that criticize Britney all.the.time. can’t seem to just move along? I mean, I really don’t like country music, but you don’t see me going to country music websites, forums, blogs, etc. to criticize the music. I just pretend the genre doesn’t exist in my world, and I move along.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:55 pm
I loved it! She’s so awesome and has gone through so much! I got my tickets for Newark, NJ!!! Can’t wait!!!
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Well said everyone! I agree – I come to this site because I love to read about Trent’s feelings towards Britney, amongst others. However, I’m not a big Tori Amos or NIN fan, so I simply skip over those sections. What is the big deal???
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Well, her performance was okay. Not really spectacular. I don’t love Britney or hate here. She is just….there.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:58 pm
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I really want the girl to succeed, don’t ask me why, I just do! :)
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:04 pm
I think Brit deserves a chance! and you said it well………if a person doesn’t like her……why just don’t bother……duh! I took my twin girls to their very first concert when they were 7 (8 years ago) and it was a Britney Spears concert……..;-) I wish her the best……..
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:06 pm
JJ is sooo cute in those pictures! Well said, Trent! People always try to make it sound like I’m ruining the world for still loving Britney Spears, and I have no idea why. I don’t bash the music other people listen to or try to make them feel stupid because they listen to other music. Since when can people not have their own preference in what they listen to?
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Don’t lump all Canadians or critics together please Talont. You have your views, and you are entitled, but I personally think Britney’s music is fun and is obviously appreciated by a lot of people around the world- Canada included! Seeing the hardships Britney has gone through the past few years makes us want to see her on top again, your right! It’s that “ordinary” superstar quality that makes some of us feel like we understand where she is coming from, and others to cast stones because of her openess regarding her personal life. However you want to look at it, she doesn’t have it easy with the ever present Paps documenting her every move.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Well put Ashley! Some of the comments today have gotten pretty harsh, directed towards Britney, other readers, and Trent which is just all together uncalled for. It’s Trent’s blog and obviously he takes his readers and their interests into consideration, but at the same time with a blog you’re going to get things shaded towards the author’s opinions/interests, particularly the ones he feels strongly about. I like that Trent offers his without having to be mean, cruel, or downright nasty about it (I’m looking at you Perez). I also saw criticism about how he includes his plans/dinners which I think, taken with his reporting style, shoutouts to readers he meets, and weekly readers pics makes him seem friendlier and more relatable. :)
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I may not like Britney Spears (just not my musical interest), but that doesn’t mean I can’t be amped for her and wish her health and success AND and Happy B-Day!
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Well said Trent! I totally agree with Tanya’s post – it almost defies explanation but I can’t help but root for this girl!
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
I’m not a fan of Brit’s in general, but let me just say this: I’m for anyone who’s been through hell (it’s debatable just how responsible she is for her problems, but whatevs) and comes back stronger for it. She doesn’t have the best voice, and she’s not the best dancer, and she makes questionable personal choices, but she makes some damned good music, and that’s what I’m in it for. I hope she’s gotten it together and will remain together for the sake of herself and her kids. I like happy, healthy Britney, and Circus has some truly awesome tracks! :) Happy Birthday, gurl!
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:53 pm
her boys are adorable…i wish she would stop dressing them the same tho.
but im sorry trent i dont agree with one of your statments. i get you were a fan from the beginning and i 100% respect that. but not everyone is going to feel the same..and people are going to say what they feel, just like you do. why have a comments section if you dont wanna hear why people have to say?
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Trent,
First, I would like to say that I like your blog, and I have respect for you. Second, I’ve been a Britney fan since the beginning, and I was on her side for the last 3 years (I still love the bitch, lol). However, Trent, you should be able to admit that Britney’s performances in the last week have been subpar when compared to who she used to be. She used to light up a stage, she was a force, she was vibrant, her moves were intricate, she had swagger. Her choreography wasn’t good, and she seemed like she didn’t want to be there half the time. We know Britney’s not the best singer, but that had never stopped her before. I know you were there this morning, and being at an actual performance is a totally different experience than watching it on TV. But, putting all of that aside, she still wasn’t the old Britney. Yes, compared to her VMA performance, she was eons better. I still support her (I just bought the album on iTunes) but I don’t think she’s ready to give us the REAL Britney, the Britney the world fell in love with.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:03 pm
Trent, I love your blog and everything you post in it. You have things that yes, are more for your friends, but who cares? This is your blog, and the haters need to get over it. I’m a Britney fan, yes, and have stood with her through the thick and thin, so I love the updates on her; but I don’t go bitching about some of the coverage on here about other celebs that I don’t care about and don’t wanna read- I scroll down! People need to understand that this is YOUR blog and this is not a democracy- it’s a Trentocracy, and that’s why so many people read it. Keep up the fantastic blog and DON’T change a thing!
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I can’t believe I missed her on GMA! :( I think she is looking fierce and doing well. My friend and I are going to her show in Kansas City!
Plus I thought her For the Record was really good. I would just love some of the haters to have nasty paparazzi in their face 24/7 and see how they would feel.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:20 pm
I have never been a HUGE fan of Britney, (huge meaning following everything she does, have every album, etc) but I always have enjoyed her. Anyway, I am actually considering going to see her show here in NOLA because well it is the first one and I really didn’t think she would even come here so yeah…may go see my first Britney show.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Peter – I don’t think we should (or that Trent is doing this) compare Britney now to Britney then. She’s older, and is in a different place. She was drugged for heavens sakes, and maybe she’s just not ready to bare her soul again and have it ripped apart like it was at the VMA’s. She’s a performer through and through and I think that these last performances gave her the courage to do the tour. I think the key word to use in Britney’s performances is hesitant. Plus, Trent did say (as well as a lot of other people) that it was better in person!
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Thanks so much for what you said, Trent!!!!! She is doing so well right now and it is nice to know that not all blogs and celebrity-related sites are bashing her. I have been a fan of hers from the beginning and am glad to see her doing better. I got my tickets for the Dallas show this morning and can’t wait for March 31st!!! Yay!
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:44 pm
I coudln’t agree with you more Trent. I’ve noticed people in my life, when speaking about both Britney and Madonna, that can get so vocally negative and downright hateful. It’s really strange to me. If you don’t have anything positive to say, just keep it to yourself.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Gross. I know y’all like her and stuff.. but she needs to get some better fitting shorts. I just about puked when I saw her flabby ass hanging out the bottoms of those shorts!
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Couldn’t keep it to myself, Joshua.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:54 pm
I agree everyone has their opinions and that’s all well and good but I fully agree with many of the statements in this regard:
There are things in this blog that I don’t care about or about people I don’t like. I, too, skip over them. I don’t feel the need to read about/ watch those posts and then comment negatively about them or anything really.
“If you don’t have anything nice to say…”
People, you need to accept the fact that you’re obsessed with Britney Spears. Whether you’re talking crap or saying she’s a goddess, you’re obsessed.
Love her or hate her, you still CAN’T STOP watching and talking about her!
P.S. I love my Britney, Bitch!!!

Trent — You are the man.
Thanks for summing up my feelings about Britney, her fans, her performances, her appeal and the bewildering reaction of some people to all of it. I’m in the “once a fan, always a fan” category with you.
Can we think back to a year ago today and get a Hallelujah, pleeeez???
When she busted out “Circus” this a.m. she was officially back. To the non-believers who don’t like those abs, the re-emergence of her signature dance moves, and most of all, the return of that smile, just look away — if you can, that is! ; )
Happy Birf-day, B!!
December 2nd, 2008 at 3:04 pm
I agree with ashley h, don’t like it – just skip it. It is his blog so he should write whatever he wants. However, the past few weeks there has been so much about Britney on this blog, if I skip, I would have to skip a lot. Although I really like the blogs and pictures of Britney, there seems to be an overkill right now.
December 2nd, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Ashley H – I didn’t have to be there in person to see that Britney isn’t ready! Don’t get me wrong, I love Britney. She can probably kill someone and I would still lover her, lol, but there is no denying that she’s not ready. She was FORCED into doing this. She should’ve moved out of the country and waited a year. Of course we should compare the Britney of now to the Britney of then. That’s who we all love. No one wants a half-ass-thrown-together-in-two-seconds Britney. Why would anyone want to see a SO-SO Britney when we know what the POWERFUL Britney can do?!?!?!?!?!?!??
Ashley, you just proved my point….. “She was drugged for heavens sakes…” If she was drugged, she shouldn’t been performing in the first place. I’m so happy that she’s better now than how she was the last couple of years, but she still has a long way to go. Just the way she was walking all around the circus rink reminded me of the 2007 VMAs.
No one can deny, not you or Trent, that what I finished stating is true. You can sugar coat it all you want….. but he truth is out there. Check youtube…. wait I’ll do that for you.

Bah humbug, Peter.
December 2nd, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I’m with you, Trent. I love me some Britters and all the haters can go try to find a life. As if.
December 2nd, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Lou,
Hey, it’s all true! I just want what’s best for Britney, but these so-called “fans” can’t see the truth. They see what they want to see.
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:09 pm
I think BB’s motherhood instincts have finally kicked in instead of the drugs. wooo weeee Britney!! Love ya, you’ll get a hot club it sometime soon!
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I Love U 4 saying that, you are right, It’s not that she sings, It’s the power of her show what makes her special :)
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:29 pm
Hey Trent! I was watching the replay on my dvr and when the camera panned to the audience, I saw you and David. You waved to the camera and for some reason I thought it was the cutest thing ever. Anywho, I’m jealous you were there. It looked like a lot of fun:)
December 2nd, 2008 at 6:18 pm
Peter I agree, she doesn’t look comfortable and has definitely lost her confidence. Part of the difficulty with someone in her situation is how long do you let her feel insecure and use that as an excuse not to perform, and when do you push her out and say no we KNOW you can do it so that she realizes it for herself. Personally, I think this was rushed and a bit pre-mature and she is getting pushed too early. Also, I think part of why it seemed better in person was simply because of the energy in the tent. And while I can understand that given her situation there is a bit of a learning curve and sympathy while she gets her footing again…at the end of the day this is her career. She needs to get her confidence and stage presence back again quickly because that has always been the biggest thing she has going for her and if it The longer it takes her, the more criticism she will draw and the worse it will look for her overall recovery/come back. This rushed return may hurt her in that way. Hopefully the performances she has done the past few weeks have really helped in that way, otherwise I don’t know how she’ll make it through an entire tour. either her confidence will come back, or she’ll break down again.
December 2nd, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Roxster, I couldn’t have said it any better. I really want her album to debut at #1 witth massive sales, boosting her confidence. I think the album is great, I just hope SHE can be the Britney of before.
Trent, I just re-read this posting again, and I agree with you to a certain point, but you have to admit that the Britney of NOW is still NOT the Britney of the lates 90s early 2000s. I gave credit where credit is due…. she’s a whole lot better than she was a year ago. But, anyone can see she still isn’t the old Britney. Just accept it.
December 2nd, 2008 at 8:30 pm
I think us Britney “haters” are entitled to voicing our opinion on the blog as well..not all of us are hateful but we are allowed to say that we think she plain sucks and gets too much credit for not enough talent! Comments sections don’t have to have only commenters with one opinion..and I, like many, many others, just don’t like her plain and simple. And trust me, I skip MANY Britney posts on this blog but there are so many written involving her on here and then something Trent writes that you see, you just want to respond to and get your voice out there that not everyone thinks she’s great and if I want to write time to time and give my opinion, then why not? I think this girl has too many blind fans who think she’s the best no matter how many times she gets it wrong and give her a thousand and one chances when others (with a whole lot more talent) don’t even get one chance…as many horrible personal decisions as she makes, her fans will always blindly follow..no denying she’s got a lot of fans but I think her fans are a little weird for blindly supporting her when she’s not talented and is a strange and stupid person when left to do things on her own..without people having to tell her right from wrong constantly..it’s one thing if she was like 12 or 13, but she’s 27 or whatever she turned today and screws everything up unless people like her father can tell her what to do step by step constantly. It is sad that she is a role model for so many people….even when she was at her worst, fans acted like everything is OK when it’s Britney, no matter how dumb..but that’s my opinion of her blinded fans…making her richer every second without her really delivering anything on her part (this is my opinion and it’s my right to put it out there). Any success her music has I think is not because of HER actual contribution over all..it is the big bucks record producers and such making the catchy background music..something she contributes nothing to. I guess all she offers is skimpy clothes and provocative dance moves..wow..what great things to be putting out there.. She’s a lucky girl for getting to do little for all that money she’s rolling in.
Just the way you fans are vocal about liking her, it’s our equal right to say that we don’t like her at all. It seems like Britney fans are super sensitive though because Britney has got so many issues…no one gets all sensitive about when people voice displeasures when it’s other celebs…like when people make fun of Posh Spice, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, etc..hardly anyone bats an eyelash when it’s time to make fun of them, no one says its not right to vocalize displeasures, but all the sensitivity comes out when its about Britney. Everyone is entitled to their opinions as these opinions aren’t really hurting anyone or anything. Yes this is Trent’s blog, so of course the posts and opinions on here belong to him, but the comments section is enabled for comments…whether they agree with Trent or not should not be a requirement..and if it is..then I will stick with PopSugar.
I know a lot of you are gonna think I’m dumb, stupid, don’t know what I’m talking about, etc. but I just wanted to write out some of my opinions..it’s what I think, I know I’m not the only one who thinks these opinions, and thanks for reading.
And just to show I’m not being so mean to your darling Britney, I do think her kids are cute.. but I do think Kevin is mostly to thank for their wellbeing!
December 2nd, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Keke, the boys are super adorable!
It’s great to see her back in action again and I am so gonna buy her album!! I’ve been listening to it on imeem and I really like Radar~
Here’s hoping her album sells like hotcakes, except hotter!
December 2nd, 2008 at 10:41 pm
I agree Trent, I love me some Britney and I have ever since Baby, One More Time. Whether she’s a superstar or a trainwreck I will never stop being a fan!
December 3rd, 2008 at 2:42 am
I think you are right Trent. Yes, everyone is entitled to express their opinion(s) regardless if it’s negative or positive. But we should still be responsible on our comments. Bashing and hating someone is not healthy comment anymore. We should consider that all words that come out from our mouth can affect someone.
Britney, yes, she is famous, yes, she is a public property. But let us not forget that she is STILL a HUMAN BEING. We don’t know what is the real feeling of the girl. We don’t know how to live like her. We don’t know the real story of her life. So I guess, we have no RIGHT to JUDGE her.
By saying JUDGE her, means, why can’t we judge the both sides of the story? why we are all focus on some things that we read on blogs, on tabloids, on magazines, some things we hear on radio on television?
I am proud to say, I am a FAN! but I am also proud to say that I know how to be objective fan.. So why all the haters can be OBJECTIVE too? is it too hard?
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:56 am
Jealous much, April?
December 3rd, 2008 at 5:37 am
Not that I agree with everything April said, but I don’t get why anytime someone voices displease with somebody they’re immediately labeled as jealous. And thats not meant to be an attack on you Louigi…you’re not the first person to put that thought on there on the Britney comments this week, nor will you be the last. Whatever happened to being able to simply dislike something cause you dislike it?
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:01 am
I think brit is doing her thing.
People feel to realize that everyone get depress. Plus the end of a marriange can break any women. Let along the women who has to go out on a date with 30 photographers.
when my marriage broke up. no one was taking my picture or wondering why i came out look a mess (if I was having a bad day)
she been thru alot…with eveyone giving there negative opinoions and juding her because of her line of work.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:10 am
After first viewing the performance by Britney in Germany and subsequently in France and England, I came to the same conclusion as many of your readers, that for some reason her ability to dance was severely lacking. Incidentally, I found out that she has had several arthroscopic surgeries in her knees, and upon watching those performances again as well as the ones from yesterday’s taping one thing was striking. Notice that she never bends her knees, she can never “hit” the floor with the same intensity as her backup dancers. Yesterday’s performance, she bent her knees below 90 degrees just ONCE. that is very unusual for a dancer. I think, and this is just speculation, that a lot of her perceived “boringness” is nothing more than part of an ongoing healing process. If that is the case, it is incredibly insensitive for us to be judging her for not doing backhand springs on the floor, and it further speaks of her strength and determination to get back out there. IF this is the case, and again this is just speculation, she should continue to ease her way into more challenging dance routines and be back to her old self in due time. And she did look TERRIFIC yesterday. I’m very happy for her.
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:09 am
I completely agree with Peter up there. It’s all well and good that you worship Britney, but damn man, be able to admit it when the quality is down. She is not as great as she once was just yet. Just because she’s not as bad as the VMAs doesn’t make it great. It took you how long to admit she was on a downward spiral before when she went batshit crazy? You thought her HOB shows were the beginning of her comeback. Its awesome that she is getting better, but don’t just refuse to acknowledge any faults.
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:42 am
Louigi – your comment makes no much sense. Jealous of what?? Because someone is not a fan of someone does not equate to being jealous..it equates to not being impressed by what they do! I’m not even involved in the entertainment business, nothing – so I am not jealous of her, other than maybe her unlimited supply of money..but that’s not only her I’d be jealous of in that regard, it would be all the millionaires of the world.
And thank you Roxster for kindly respecting what I had to say, even while disagreeing with some of it.
December 3rd, 2008 at 9:42 am
Thanks, Maya!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 am
What the frick is up with her arms in the last picture? It looks like her heads been turned around backwards.
Creepy…
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:52 am
I am not a Britney fan nor am i a “hater” but i have danced my entire life and I will say this Britney has never been a good dancer. She is mediocre at best but has had amazing choreographers and amazing dancers who make her look good. Her dancing has always been a lot of boob shaking and that is pretty much it. Even in her earlier videos if you watch her from the waist up she looks fantastic, but watch her feet they never do much of anything this isnt new its what she has always been doing… on a positive note to her I am glad she seems to be getting herself back on track as a mother myself I wouldnt wish what she went thru with her kids on anyone
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Jennie, I wasn’t going to say anything… but I couldn’t hold myself back. What you just said is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard! “Britney has never been a good dancer” WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Her earlier videos? Go watch a live performance!!!!!! Honestly, you need to go to church and confess, because what you said was blasphemy. If you think “OLD” Britney is not a good dancer, then you must suck, so don’t play that i’ve-been-dancing-my-whole-life garbage.
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Now I feel bad. I just don’t “get” her I guess. That’s all.
