Not to be outdone by Jason Mraz and his NY booksigning last night, Olympic Gold-Medalist Michael Phelps was on hand at the Barnes & Noble on 5th Avenue in NYC also last night to sign copies of his new book No Limits: The Will to Succeed. Here are a few pics from his in-store appearance last night:

From the Amazon.com book description: No Limits explores the hard work, commitment, and sacrifice that go into reaching any goal. Whether it is on the starting block during an Olympic swim meet or in the weight room on a typical day, Phelps’s dedication has led him to unparalleled excellence. Filled with anecdotes from family members, friends, teammates, and his coach, No Limits gives a behind-the-scenes look at the makings of a real champion. One of Phelps’s mottos is “Performance Is Reality,” and it typifies his attitude toward achieving his goals. It’s easy to get bogged down by doubt or to lose focus when a challenge seems out of reach, but Phelps believes that you can accomplish anything if you fully commit yourself to it. Using the eight final swims of the Beijing Olympics as a model, No Limits is a step-by-step guide to realizing one’s dream.
While I am not particularly fond of autobiographical books written by sports stars (especially with ghost writers, like Alan Abrahamson who is also credited as an author of this book), I am a bit curious to read this book about Michael Phelps. His determination to achieve his goals is very inspiring … I think I’d like to know about about how he has been able to achieve many of his dreams at such a young age. I dunno … something about Phelpsie is so compelling to me.

SO FUG.
He normally is so fug to me but the hat really makes a difference!! I am impressed. KEEP THE HAT ON!!!!
He looks disheveled.
my goodness he’s ugly – a face only a mother could love!
I have to disagree Mr. Gyllenhaal. Not that I thought it was possible, but he looks worse than ever with that hat on. He should fire whoever let him go out like that!
Its 50/50.
But still, what the hell is he writing a BOOK about?
His face is total BUTTA! not hot….
Read his first book which was kind of fun, but you could sense his childish way of writing. Looking forward to his new one…
The main reason I visit this blog is b/c of Trent’s positive spin. Lately, the readers’ responses have been so negative and nasty. What is going on? It makes me sad. :(
he looks so ugly
Whenever someone posts something about Phelps, there are people who will reply with: ‘fug’,'butterface’ etc. OK folks, you think he’s fug – we kinda realised that already. So what? He’s not a beauty contestant, he’s an olympic swimmer and may I say, the greatest one that ever lived.Try to learn something useful from him (like his determination and his work ethic), losers. If you think he’s ugly, look at his speedo – or don’t look at him at all. I’d really like to read a reply from someone who actually read that book.
Well said Franzy!! I second and third your reply. I think Phelps is one hot hot man because of his determination, his accomplishments, his work ethic, and his ability to look great in a speedo ;) We get that most of you don’t think he’s good looking…so go moon over some young no-talent actor.
also, I too am thinking about purchasing this book, a brief review would be most welcome…
It’s such a shame he’s so fugly, he’s got such a great body & maybe if his personality were a little better he’d be more attractive but he’s just so blah & what’s up with his girlfriend, she’s pretty trashy, at least in photos! I do give the man props for his amazing athletic abilities though…I couldn’t do it, I can barely get my ass to the gym 4 times a week!!!
HE IS SOOOOOOOOOO UGLY!!!!!!!
I cannot decide if he looks like Eeyore more or Lurch from The Addams Family. His body is immaculate, but it’s not that hot…he’s so lanky. Too bad he doesn’t know how unpretty he is, or does he? His dog is really cute though!
I am so over him. Gross!!
seriously, leave michael phelps alone. he is uniquely sexy.
