Mariah Carey Promotes ‘The Ballads’ With A New Body
Picture perfect

Mariah Carey may’ve gotten the shaft from the Grammy Awards yesterday when it was revealed that she received NO NOMINATIONS but that doesn’t mean her life will grind to a halt as a result. Mimi is about to release a new album of slow jams titled The Ballads and has released a couple of new promo pics for publicity:

With her glossy hair, perfect skin and tiny waist Mariah Carey looks truly sensational in the promotional shots for her new album The Ballads. So sensational in fact that it has led to questions about whether she has had a little help from an airbrush achieving the perfect look. The diva is known for her glamorous image, but in the newest photos she appears even more toned and slim than usual. Mariah has been criticised in the past for her heavily doctored album covers, including The Emancipation of Mimi. When the singer appeared on the front cover of Allure magazine in March it led to widespread discussion of the photo, and whether it had been digitally manipulated. However, despite the criticisms, it cannot be denied that at the age of 38 Mariah is looking better than ever before.

Retouched or not, Mimi looks hawt as hell! She rules, y’all. I think it totally sucks that Mariah got the shaft from the Grammy Awards but she’ll be just fine. She already beat Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most #1 songs (18 to Elvis‘s 17) and will, most likely, beat the record set by the Beatles for the most #1′s ever (she only needs 3 more #1 songs to set the new record). It won’t be long before folks begin to sing her praises again.

Um…of course she has been retouched! Everyone’s retouched in promo pictures. I didn’t think it was very shocking anymore.

And I don’t think people should pretend that they wouldn’t mind a little touching up if they were under the scrutiny of the public eye 24/7. I know I would; everyone complains about retouching but once they spot a celeb without make up it makes front page news and I certainly wouldn’t want my morning face seen by the nation.

  3. Aidan says:

Photoshop and Mimi have had a long, beneficial mutual history together. That said, she looks good. And truepenny is right: who among us wouldn’t like to have retouches as an option in our everyday lives? But a ballad collection? She had #1s and her greatest hits compilation. Enough now. Still, it’s better than Hilary Duff, who has more greatest hits albums than actual…albums. :P

  4. robin says:

how can you say she even looks good when her face is so altered it hardly resembles her..or even a human for that matter. she should own being her age and being curvy..i don’t think i really even know what this woman looks like because magazines and record companies alter her beyond recognition. RIDICULOUS!

  5. Joanne says:

She doesn’t look vastly different than in her papparazzi pics – She still looks like Mariah …

  6. tanya says:

I miss the larger Mariah, I always thought she looked better that way (except when she insisted on wearing clothes that were 2 sizes too small). I don’t know if she’s still large, I get so confused between the fake and the real! Will the real Mariah please stand up?

  7. nicole says:

the pics still look like her…i dont get how some of you say it looks nothing like her?
anyways ive always been a fan of Mariah Ballads…and i cant wait for this cd =)

  8. nora says:

who cares what she looks like

whats retarded is that she will beat the beatles record
but even if she does, they are still always going to be more popular or remembered than her
    thank god

  9. Steph says:

Wow… it’s upsetting when someone like Mariah Carey can beat one of the greatest bands of all time (Beatles) and the King of Rock.
What the hell happened to music?

  10. ppph says:

why are guys discrediting her? mariah can be great when she wants to be. so shes beating records…thats means shes doing something right. i like many other grew up with mariah not the beatles so i wouldnt mind seeing her take over these records. and to say she wont be as popular or as remembered is crap…the teens now are gunna remember mariah when they older not the beatles. music go through stages..whos big to us now isnt gunna be big to the next generation. and there will be other people to break these records. doesnt mean anythings happened to music.

  11. Wendell says:

I think they just put her head on a different body. That is NOT retouching. It’s hilaroius that she thinks people would think it is what she looks like. As far as Grammy noms, her last album kinda blows and I think the lack of hits on it shows that.

  12. Duckie says:

    Her face looks odd…

  13. aldo says:

unless she retires this bitch will get 3 more # 1´s its obvs, shes gonna set another record, whait and see.

  14. Lana says:

Hi, I’ve met her and she is that gorgeous in person. You guys are such haters! Grow up. Mimi is in her later 30s and she looks amazing! Better than probably most of the people commenting on her pictures! Gosh, you people need some positivity in your lives and need to stop throwing negativity out into the air. It’s sickening. MIMI for life!

  15. Muzo says:

Hey man! Just wanted to let you know, Mariah wasn’t completely snubbed at this year’s Grammys noms – granted, she didn’t receive the same accolades as she did for ‘Mimi,’ but she did receive a nom for best gospel performance for “I Understand,” a collaborative effort between Kim Burrell, Rance Allen, Bebe Winans, Mariah Carey & Hezekiah Walker’s Love
Fellowship Tabernacle Church Choir. It’s a track off ‘Randy Jackson’s Music Club, Volume One.’ Here’s the source:

Also, regarding ‘The Ballads’ album, which is due out in the U.S. Jan. 20. It is actualy a ‘Hits Collection’ from Columbia Records – the label Mariah was on in the ’90s. So you will only hear her older songs. So technically, while it’s a release of Mariah Carey music, she is not involved in it – and since she is no longer a Columbia property, my guess is that she won’t be taking any new pics for them anytime soon.

The album has been out since late October in Ireland and the U.K. and has done really well. For more info on the album, including tracklist etc., check it out in my music blog:

  16. camille says:

    I hope I look that good when I’m 38!!

  17. CC says:

@ ppph – The very idea that you grew up not knowing who the Beatles are/were scares is terrifying. I fear for the future of music.
Oh, and “gunna” is not a word.

I take that back. I fear for the future in general.

  18. CC says:

    I also seem to have aphasia… :-)

  19. debho says:

Duckie, her face IS odd. This is not a pretty woman. Her music or her videos are always old fashioned in my opinion. She’s always one step behind.

  20. Amanda says:

In the pic on the left her arm doesn’t seem to match her body. But I do agree w/camille…either way, i hope i look that good when i’m 38
