Joel Madden Channels His Inner Droog
Earlier today we saw a couple photos of Xtina Aguilera and her hubby Jordy Bratman dressed up like droog characters from A Clockwork Orange and I mentioned that the pair were partying with Nicole Richie in celebration of Xtina’s 28th birthday yesterday. At the time of this morning’s posting, I was unaware that Joel Madden — who also attended Xtina’s party last night — also dressed up like a Clockwork Orange droog …

… and he was lookin’ pretty damn good, too. The look works for him, yes? Clearly, Nicole was not interested in playing dress-up with the other kids.
Incidentally, Pink reader Gina sent me a picture of her son dressed up like a droog from A Clockwork Orange that is TOO CUTE not to share:

Sorry Xtina, Jordy and Joel … I think this little guy is the best, cutest looking droogy of all y’all.

Godm Nicole looks really skinny in that picture…
And that baby picture could quite possibly be the cutest droog known to man.

Very cute! Although this little guy will have to wait a long time to ever watch “A Clockwork Orange”, as it’s a violent movie that was even banned in the UK by it’s own director!
I have to say this, but Nicole Richie is looking way too skinny again. She needs to eat more!

what’s a droog? I know…I haven’t watched Clockwork Orange before:(

I suggest you read the original novel by Anthony Burgess anyway before ever seeing the movie version, although it’s a cult film and one of Stanley Kubrick’s best productions. He had the film banned in the UK because of it’s violent scenes. The “droogs” was the slang name for the gang of friends who are lead by the main character of the story, a young man called Alex, who was played by British actor Malcom McDowell in the movie.

Thank you for enlightening me:) I will look into the novel :)

Hmmm…I’m not sure I’d dress my son up like a droog…seeing as how they raped women, beat up people, and the milk was “drugged.” Cute kid though.

I’m with Amy. The little boy is absolutely adorable, but I’m sorry: droogs are murdering rapists. Dressing up your baby as one is not cute.

While I understand where Amy and Aiden are coming from, I think it’s fine for a kid to dress up like a droog just like they might dress up as a vampire, zombie or Michael Jackson. Costumes are meant to be fun, not necessarily exact representations of the original character

Trent, I agree with you to a point, but not in this case. Sorry. I totally respect your opinion, but I don’t think it’s cool for people to dress up as rapists – fictional or not. It’s crass and tasteless. That’s just my opinion, but as a rape survivor, I take offense to this. And if people want to slag me off as being too sensitive, that’s their right, as well. *shrug*

Wow, I just read everyone’s comments! Yikes! Lighten up! That little boy is adorable! I’m amazed at how quickly this fun post went south….

That little boy makes a far better droog than the celebs! The glass of milk it the perfect touch!!!

Agreed! I thought this wee one was adorable until y’all brought me down. It’s just a costume, but you gotta love the grouping in of MJ with vampires lol

No one’s saying the boy isn’t adorable – he is. Some of us just disagree with the choice of a droog costume, that’s all. Why aren’t people allowed to express their honest reaction to posts? No one was asking Trent to take it down or anything. Damn.

I think it’s adorable. The little boy is a Joel mini-me in that pic. I’ve never seen Clockwork Orange, but I don’t see anything wrong with dressing up as a character. Maybe he represents a innocent version of a Droog.

Yeah, but Vampires and Zombies aren’t real. Rapists are. Also, is MJ even real anymore?…I’m pretty sure he also doesn’t exist..lol.
I am usually never sensitive…this just struck me as a little odd, that’s all. I’m just saying that I, personally, would not dress my child up as a droog.
That being said, I did enjoy the book and the movie. I studied it in my literature classes in college.

Funny, they were rockin’ the droog look last night and Malcolm McDowell was on a talk show at the same time here in Canada.
