Faking Breaking News! The Sun newspaper is reporting that Eddie Murphy has signed on to play The Riddler in the new Batman sequel which they claim is titled Gotham. Despite the fact that no other news outlet has any of this information, The Sun goes on to further claim that Shia LaBeouf has been cast as Robin and Rachel Weiz has signed on as Catwoman. Umm … yeah:
FUNNYMAN EDDIE MURPHY will play The Riddler in the next Batman movie, The Sun can reveal. The Beverly Hills Cop star, 47, has been signed up by British director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN to reprise the role played by JIM CARREY in 1995’s Batman Forever. The surprise move follows speculation linking Pirates of the Caribbean star JOHNNY DEPP to the part. The film, set for a 2010 release, is being developed under the working title Gotham. Execs have also signed up rising Transformers star SHIA LABEOUF, 22, to play Robin. CHRISTIAN BALE will return as Bruce Wayne, while MICHAEL CAINE will again play Bruce’s assistant Alfred. Meanwhile, Brit RACHEL WEISZ is said to be up for the Catwoman role. Insiders also revealed to The Sun the flick will end on a cliffhanger over whether Batman survives a blast at Wayne Towers.

if this really happened, I wouldn’t even watch it. Not because Shia or Rachel, but because of Eddie Murphy. He ruins everything.

At first I scoffed too, but you know Eddie can be a seriously creepy dude, and after the Dark Knight, I TOTALLY totally totally trust Nolan’s judgement. I’m thinking the Murphy from Dreamgirls…would make a really interesting Riddler. I’m just not thrilled about seeing the riddler again, he’s too similar to the Joker. Where is CATwoman? Or Harley Quinn? But Murphy in the role would interest me.

Just a FYI for the readers over the pond.
The sun is a tabloid paper that, when they have space left after printing the few factual storys they print, tend to just make stuff up, anything, the more obscure and random the better.
I have checked PITNB everyday for a long while, but if these storys from the sun keep poping up I may have to change this, after all if I wanted to read garbage like this id just go to the sorce (thesun).

Yeah this is all rubbish. Bale has already said that if there was a RObin then he refused to be Batman, and Nolan has said he’s not a Robin fan either and I think Murphy would be the last pick for Riddler lol. But it was still fun to read,:P
SO not true. My uncle has worked on the last 2 Batman movies (the parts that were filmed in Chicago) and he is going to be going back soon to work on the third one. He sais that Phillip Seymour Hoffman is going to be the Penguin and Johnny Depp is slated to portray the Riddler.
I think Rachel Weisz would make an excellent catwoman. She isn’t too old for the part. And she’s gorgeous and sexy so it can work. Eddie Murphy needs to go sit down somewhere. He is corny and played out. I like Shia but I don’t think the charactor Robin would fit or is needed in these movies.
lol u got to be kidding! eddie murphy!!! now that’s a joke. c’mon if jim carey couldn’t handle the role cos lets face it, jim was alright but made the riddler to cartoonish. depp in the other hand would be a great for the role if not maybe even heath ledger’s costart in brokeback moutain, jake gylenhaul or however u spell that. he would also make a good riddler cos the riddler is not really funny if you read the comics and watch the cartoons. riddler is sorta of a creep with charming riddles. yes a lil humor, not jim carey and certainly not eddie murphy as for robin. if ya wanna keep bale, best batman ever, than lose robin and rachel weisz as catwoman, goodluck. she ain’t topping michelle phiefer. i suggest kiera knightly as catwoman or even megan fox.
