Courtney Love Does British ‘Elle’ Magazine
America’s favorite trainwreck blogger Courtney Love is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of British Elle magazine (if you can believe that). In her coverstory interview, Courtney happily takes credit for the fact that she paved the way for younger starlets like Britney Spears to successfully weather public melt/break-downs because, you know, she C. Love so successfully weathered them herself … or something. Here is Courtney’s (pretty amazing, if I do say so myself) coverphoto:
Courtney Love says she set the stage for Britney Spears’ public breakdown with her own erratic behaviour. Kurt Cobain’s outspoken widow said: “I had a long, hard fall. I set the stage for Britney to crash and burn. “I went through it all first.” The Hole singer and actress has been through a catalogue of disasters, including the suicide of her Nirvana frontman husband, drug addiction, arrests, custody battles, jail sentences, disastrous plastic surgery, weight issues and jail terms. However, she now claims to be in control of her body image and addictions. During a frank interview for Elle magazine she reveals she tried to get a gastric band fitted but her doctor wouldn’t allow it. “If I could get a gastric band I would!” she says. “I did go to see a Hollywood doctor about it. I wasn’t desperate, I just knew I had to do something. He said no. I might have been fat, but I wasn’t that fat. I tried lipo on my stomach after that. It was horrible and it didn’t work.” The 44-year-old also remarks on her drastic weight loss recently. “I knew I had to eat more because I was scary,” she continues. “I lost my tits, I lost my ass. My stomach was really loose and saggy because I hadn’t done any exercise to lose the weight, I simply hadn’t eaten.”
The coverstory goes on to discuss how Courtney finally opened to her daughter Frances Bean about her rampant heroin use among other such lovely topics absolutely suitable for a fashion magazine of this magnitude. Honestly, I’m amazed that Court has anything new to offer that she hasn’t already dished about (in her own incoherent way) on her My Space blog. I’m not very familiar with photographer Jan Welter’s work (I don’t think) but I have to say that these pics are pretty remarkable. Save for the last pic (where Courtney Love looks like an elder British woman lookin’ to score some figgy pudding) Court really looks pretty hot in these pics. Sure the woman is still a raging mess (as her next blogpost is sure to further prove) but she does look good in this mag. What do ya’ll think?

well, if no one was talking about her I doubt she would be on the cover of British Elle or on this blog. So there is the answer to that question. I think she is a talented woman and clearly influenced many musicians in her genre.

Say what you want about Court, Hole was incredible. Violet? Doll Parts? Malibu? Asking for It? Miss World? I was not into grunge or even Nirvana really but love Hole and wish they would reform. They spoke to angry youth and Court can write songs. Anyone remember when she threw that thing at Madonna at the MTV awards in 95? Court looked terrible then. Madge looked INCREDIBLE with her long hair. My oh my have the tables turned.

I was and still am a huge fan of Nirvana, and it’s been tragic to see Courtney doing the things that led to Kurt’s death. I hope she has really cleaned up her act, stopped the drug use, and started paying more attention to her daughter.

Paz….those talented bitches DIED lol…I think its pretty safe to say Courtney Love WINS.
anyway Courtney is still good. Her music has changed a lot and its become a lot more wise with time.
Also trent…shes looked pretty damn good in print for nearly 3 years. I don’t know whats so shocking, shes always been really photogenic.
Without Courtney, Britney, lindsey, etc would’ve had a tougher time, I totally agree there.

Courtney Love is one of those people that when she’s bad, she’s really bad, but when she’s good, she’s really good. She cleans up well. Sort of the same with Britney. When they’re at their worst they look horrible and you never think they’re gonna get out of their holes, but then they clean up their acts and look amazing. I don’t know how I feel about Courtney as a person, but she’s not a bad musician or actress and I’d like to see her succeed for the sake of her daughter.

Beyonce is doing Etta James’ biopic. I doubt they’ll ever make a movie about Courtney. She’s just another chick who got caught up in the bad side of fame. I saw Hole perform down here in Australia at Big Day Out about 9 years ago when they were at their peak. The poor bitch was that stoned she didn’t know whether she was Arthur or Martha. Throwing her breasts out, showing off her hoo-haa. Really, not nice…and I’m no prude.

I’ ve never been a fan, and she’s Photoshopped to all hell here, but whatever. She’s a talented songwriter if marginal singer. I always thought the real star in Hole was Melissa auf der Maur. Courtney loses credibility as the forerunner of the public breakdown, but she perhaps paved some inroads. I give Courtney for discussing publicly her struggles. And she was at Whitney’s intervention. If Courtney’s calling you a crackhead, you know you got problems. I gotta disagree with Avi’s assessment, though. Madge looks damn good for 50, and anyone who doesn’t think so can suck it. Let’s see what you look like at that age. :P

Avi: I made no insinuation that Courtney killed Kurt. That’s a conspiracy theory. I’m saying that Courtney’s drug use and past actions may lead her to an early grave–just like it did to Kurt.
