Britney Spears & Ellen DeGeneres Go Xmas Caroling
As we heard last week, Ellen DeGeneres announced on her show that she would be “spending the weekend” (meaning last weekend) with Britney Spears and it was speculated that their hanging out time (whatever it turned out to be) would be taped for broadcast on her show. It turns out that Ellen did hang out with Britney last Friday as the two of them went Xmas caroling together while dressed in very vintage outfits — LOL! Here is a promo pic, released by Warner Bros. Studios, from the taped segment that is scheduled to air on The Ellen DeGeneres Show next Tuesday December 16:

Britney Spears and Ellen DeGeneres spread a little holiday cheer in L.A. last Friday. The singer – who just turned 27 last week – and the talk show host hit the street in old-fashioned dresses to sing a few Christmas Carols. Spears donned a festive red crushed velvet hoop gown, tartan shawl and bonnet for the outing, while DeGeneres chose a mistletoe-topped bonnet and green crushed velvet outfit. Both wore white gloves and big smiles.
Aww … I love this pic! Ellen is always so fun … she is the only person who could come with with a fun idea like this ;) After the jump, check out a couple more photos of Ellen and Brit on their caroling adventure together …

These pics look so cute! I cannot wait to see the segment in full. I’m not sure if Britney will be appearing on Ellen’s show as an interviewable guest or not but at least we can look forward to this fun little caroling segment to air next week. Loves it!!

Ok, I love Britney (even the chubby Cheetos eating barefoot in a gas station Britney), but I would have loved to hear her sing because I know the girl can’t sing for beans and there is no mixing board out there with her! LOLacoaster!

haha this is such a classic example of why Ellen rocks. She is the only talk show host who’d be able to get any celeb to do this with her…and its cause shes so fun! I’m sure its hysterical. Britney’s smile looks a little forced though. I love that she is hiding behind her sunglasses so you can’t fully see her “what the eff did is Larry making me do now” expresson. Trish you are so right! I wonder what song she “sings”. Def DVR’ing this

Ellen is so sick…in a good way! You know, I heard Britney sing when she was ten years old as the featured entertainment in a Jr. Miss pageant in my south Louisiana hometown, and she was awesome! I mean, she belted out the song and everyones jaws dropped! Then, she had to be a good singer to get on the Mickey Mouse Club show. I wonder if her voice changed that much as she got older? Or is it just that her voice can’t take the strain of doing a two hour concert? Does anyone have the answer?

Denise I always wondered the same thing. I read a thing with Larry Rudolph recently where he said that when Britney first signed with Jive they worked on changing how she used her voice so it would be more commercial. Even still, when she does “belt out” something in a song (like in the end of If You Seek Amy when she is screaming AMYY) she just doesn’t sound the same as she did when she was younger. I think it’s a combination of ageing, smoking, and lack of use since her vocal chords aren’t really required to do it too frequently. In general she doesn’t have that same vocal power as Jessica or Christina, which she touched on a little with that infamous Matt Lauer interview.

Hmmm, well, maybe she should work on strengthening her voice. Granted, she’ll never have the voice of Christina, but she may get to a point where she doesn’t have to lip sync anymore.

haha I cannot wait to see this air on her show.
Only ellen could come up with this idea and then actually pull it off and make it funny.
Good for Brittany for going along with it, too. She must be worried about appearance and how people will react to anything she does so I am glad they threw caution to the wind and let Ellen get her into this caroling get up.
Plus, she actually looks HAPPY in these shots.

I can’t wait to watch this!
btw, I think Brit can SING! Her voice is nothing compared to Christina but she never insisted that it was. You don’t become a international pop star for no reason. She used to sing live in her concerts when she first started out…nowadays, not much. But what can you expect when people are always telling her what to do! I bet you guys can’t sing better, so stop hating!

MJ, I too believe she can sing! I’m the one who said I heard her when she was 10 and she was awesome! I do think, as Roxter pointed out, that she’s let her voice go a little, but I think she can get it back if she tried. And I think she should put forth the effort to try to be the best singer she can be. But no way am I a hater…I love Britney, and am so glad she’s well on the road to recovery. Oh, and you’re right, I can’t sing at all, but no one’s paying me to do it either!
