Bristol Palin Gives Birth To A Baby Boy
It is being reported that Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of Alaska governor and former Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, gave birth to her firstborn child this past Saturday in Palmer, Alaska. As you may recall, Bristol made headlines when it was revealed that she was pregs with a child that was conceived out of wedlock mere days after Sarah Palin was announced as the Republican Party’s nominee for VP. Had John McCain won the Presidential election last month, Bristol would’ve been the first unmarried Second Daughter-elect to give birth in the weeks ahead of the Presidential inauguration:

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gave birth on Saturday to a healthy 7 lb., 7 oz., baby boy in Palmer, Alaska. “We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.” The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston and he was born at 5:30 a.m., according to Jones. Baby Tripp takes his surname from his dad, Levi Johnston, an apprentice electrician and former Wasilla High School hockey player who has been dating Bristol for three years. Bristol Palin is currently residing in Wasilla and completing her high-school diploma through correspondence courses. Johnston is studying to become an electrician. He told the Associated Press in October that he and fiancée Bristol plan to wed in 2009 and raise the child together.
Man … what a fitting end to all the Palin nonsense that we were subjected to this year. I’m fairly certain that Bristol and Levi would’ve gotten hitched before the birth of this child had the Republicans won the election but now that they’re able to go back to being “regular” folk up in Alaska, they can carry on and forestall their shotgun wedding until they are good and ready to make the commitment. I have to be honest, I’m really glad that we dodged the Palin bullet in last month’s election … there was just too much drama wrapped up in Palin’s elevation in our national politics. I do hope that Bristol, Levi and Tripp are able to live long and happy lives together … far away from national politics. I think it’s prolly for the best for everyone concerned.

Tripp can now be added to the list of weird Palin names. Sounds an awful lot like Trigg.
December 30th, 2008 at 9:15 am
Oh Holy Lord. Tripp? What the fuck is wrong with people? And why does he have four names not including his last name?? Just wait until he gets confirmed: “Here he is…Tripp Easton Mitchell Mowgli Johnston Benning-Palin”???

Then don’t read his blog.
December 30th, 2008 at 9:54 am
omg that juneau poster is HILARIOUS!
December 30th, 2008 at 9:57 am
Ok…the other kid’s name is Trigg. I have been looking all over for that. I thought it was strange that she named her kid the same as her brother…
December 30th, 2008 at 9:59 am
@Steph — I’m just not a fan of hypocrisy, I will not apologize for that.
December 30th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Bristol The Pistol Dodges Shotgun Wedding! – I can see the headlines now….
December 30th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Seriously, Trent’s spoof of the Juno poster is, without a doubt, the BEST artwork EVER on the blog! Everything is so perfect!!! LOVE IT!!!

Love it!!!!

@Cristina — yes, the artwork is pretty fab but I didn’t make it … it was created by this guy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/soekarno72/2819518087/
December 30th, 2008 at 10:42 am
The spoof poster is hilarious! but who gives a shit about these people? Sarah Palin and her trashy family will all be forgotten about this time next year anyways.
December 30th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Only the children of the President gain the moniker of “First” children, not the children of the veep. =P
December 30th, 2008 at 11:07 am
@ pink is the best blog…how are they trashy? im a little curious as to why you think that?
December 30th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Yes, Bristol Palin screwed up in spite of her parents’ teachings. Imagine that–a teen who screws up. But, unlike so many families in this country, Bristol’s family is dealing with the situation. And you want to call them hypocrites for this?
December 30th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
I think it is time that Trent stay out of politics. Your political commentating is very one-sided, uneducated and comes across extremely hypocritical. Further more, who are you to say that they would not have gotten married? I didn’t realize that you knew them personally well enough to make such a bold statement like that. By the way – Only the daughter of the PRESIDENT can be the First daughter.
December 30th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
I don’t see how having your daughter get pregnant makes you a hypocrite. I think it would have been hypocritical if she’d wanted her daughter to run off and have an abortion so it wouldn’t affect her political aspirations. And I wouldn’t write Sarah Palin off just yet. Most conservatives were less than enthusiastic about voting for John McCain until she was added to the ticket.
December 30th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I say to Sam what I said to Steph…
If you have a problem with Trents blog or opinions- dont read it!
It’s really that easy.
December 30th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Sam get off your high horse and don’t take everything you read so seriously.
December 30th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Katie and Presley – is this what you do all day? Troll Trent’s comments board to find people you disagree with? Wow…must have some time on your hands.
My point is simply that for someone that has probably endured much harassment and ridicule for different life choices than main stream society deems “acceptable” (trust me – my brother is gay and has dealth with horrendous and horrible things through out his life) I would have hoped that Trent would have had a much more open mind and been less judgemental. Furthermore, I am fairly confident that when Trent throws his personal beliefs into his commentary, he is very serious about what he writes. One should only expect to receive serious responses.
If you don’t want to be judged, do not judge others, as we are all human and we should take responsibility for our choices; which I believe she is doing.
December 30th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Is that not what you just did Sam? Come back- look at the comments- and post again? So let’s not throw around the classic highschool insult of “must have some time on your hands”.
I guess I just don’t understand why you would read this blog if you so disagree with Trent and his beliefs. Yes we are all entitled to our own opinions and I agree that if you do not want to be judged, you shouldn’t judge others. I personally would not read a blog on opinions I disagree with then blast the person in the comments.
Seems a little childish to me. But I’m sure you have your reasons and will comment after this expressing them. Which is fine- do your thing.
I just disagree.
December 30th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
@Sam — Paz is right, gettin’ $300,000 from People magazine for the first baby photos prolly assuages any ‘harassment and ridicule’ that may come with teenage pregnancy
December 30th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Eh. Its not hypocritcal, Sarah Palin did not have the baby out of wedlock, and the baby has not been aborted.
Since when have parents been able to stop their kids from doing things they disapprove , particularly have sex? And are we to condemn them all or just the ones that we don’t poltically agree with.
Disagreeing with Palin is one thing (I’m glad shes no vp) but continually mocking her for things out of her control is petty. If you really don’t like her let her fade into obscurity.
December 30th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
The hypocritical part is not that she had the baby, it’s that Sarah Palin opposes sex education and preaches “abstinence only” and yet it clearly didn’t work for her own daughter. Goes to show that withholding info and preaching Just Say No does not work!!
By the way, I’m a bit annoyed that white girls can get away with having a baby in their teens out of wedlock, but if a Black or Latina were to get pregnant, they’d be called welfare queens. It’s not just Bristol Palin, it’s also Juno and Katherine Heigl in “Knocked Up.” Just my two cents.
December 30th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
i think the problem, Sam and H, is that Palin favored abstinence-only education, as did the Republican platform as do most Repubican politicians.
Bristol, as the daughter of Sarah Palin, and who clearly did not adhere to the tenets of abstinence-only education got pregnant.
The problem is that not all teenage girls have families who will support them, not all teenage girls have consensual sex when they are impregnated.
abstinence-only, as supported by Palin and the Republicans, clearly doesn’t work. Yet, this policy has become exported all over the world (i.e. family planning funding cut unless abstinence-only is taught) and it harms women worldwide. That is the hypocrisy. Cheers to Trent for highlighting it.
December 30th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
@paz. Yes, imagine if one of the Obama daughters were old enough to get pregnant, did get pregnant, and the mother of the father of the baby was arrested for dealing drugs.
Pop culture IS political, whether we like it or not.
December 30th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Yeah I see the point about abstinent only education. it doesn’t work, but thats why you should mock Sarah Palin not the poor girl who had to get raised in that situation. She should have our sympathies.
And for the comment about white girls getting away with being pregnant, your examples are bad. Juno gave hers for adoption and Katherine Heigls character had plenty of money to support the child. None of these people used welfare to raise the child and thats what annoys people, regardless of race.
December 30th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
@ackeegirl. Very well put
December 30th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Now we can find out if the baby’s father really is black!
December 30th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Hey H! So you’re more concerned with the cost over anything else, huh?
Wow, how moral of you.
December 30th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
it doesnt matter if you black white or hispanic….having a baby as a teen has got to be hard, and if people dont like you their gonna talk about you. its a fact of life. and for everyone that wants the palins to fade into the background…stop talking about them and bringing them to the forfront. and they will maybe go away like you all hope for.
January 1st, 2009 at 7:51 pm
I don’t know why people believe that having a stupid wedding ceremony will somehow make it all better??!! WTF …
January 1st, 2009 at 8:12 pm
i find it HILARIOUS that some people are failing to see the why this situation is ridiculous!
/
it just shows that what sarah palin preaches is completely bullsh!t. if she cannot even maintain some semblance of control and implement her beliefs into her family, how in the world was she going to help run the country? THAT, people, is hypocrisy at its most blatant. its hard to keep an open mind towards people who sit on their moral high horse and judge others but in reality are no more moral that the common human being.
/
good on you trent for this post!
and what kind of name is TRIPP, anyway??
January 2nd, 2009 at 8:01 pm
i really wish i could just read celebrity gossip and not have trent insert his one-sided, political opinions into everything.
January 5th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
I agree with JMH. I just want the celeb gossip not the potitical commentary from a one sided person. I would have thought Trent would be more open to an individuals way to live.
