Book ‘Em, Trent-o
Yesterday afternoon I drove David into the city so that he could spend some time at the gym while I ran around and took care of a few errands. I spent much of my time perusing the bookstacks at Book Soup on Sunset Blvd. shopping for Xmas gifts for my friends. I’ve decided that this year I am giving out books to all of my friends for Xmas and taking the time to select each book for each friend was prolly the funnest time I’ve spent shopping in a very long time:

Because some (tho not all) of my friends read the blog on a daily basis, I cannot talk about what books were purchased or for whom but I did manage to pick up a great selection of books that are very representative of my friends and their tastes. Honestly, this is one of my better ideas I think … I should always give books as presents.
This afternoon I have a few more things to take care of and, depending on how long that takes, afterward David and I might catch a show or something. We leave for Las Vegas tomorrow so, on the other hand, we might make it a quiet night in.

Your ’sleigh’ will be really weighted down this year, Santa Trent! Having made that lame joke, let me just say that I would LOVE a book from a friend – what a great idea.

Yay books!!! The weirdest thing I have experienced in my life is walking into the homes of people who don’t have any books…anywhere…and they don’t see anything wrong with that.

I love giving books as presents… even to people who aren’t big readers. It’s been great the first couple of years, but the longer it goes on, the harder it becomes to find another book that I feel really fits the person I’m gifting it to… I hope your friends love what you’ve picked out for them, Trent!

I did this last year, and I will again this year. It takes FOREVER but it’s soooooo worth it! Especially when you get together and your friends say things like “that book was SO ME!” :)

My friends aren’t very big readers, either! I’m usually the one who will give a great cd out to all my peeps, but now I’m going to be the bookworm!

“Most fun” – not “funnest” :)

you rock for supporting a great independent bookstore like book soup. they give so much more back to the community that stores like barnes and noble or just shopping on amazon.
way to be awesome!

Honestly, you should just give them library cards. And a list of suggested reading.

I always buy my nephew books. He’s 9 so he’s just started reading novels. I buy him TONS everytime I go to rummage sales or used bookstores I buy that kid a book.
And would you believe he told me I give the crappiest presents??? The nerve!
