After spending a few days in NYC for the holidays (doing fun stuff like bike riding and soccer playing), the Jackman family have packed up their shizz and bid adieu to the Big Apple. Here are a few fairly benign photos of Hugh lookin’ all kinds of hawt in just his sweater and scarf as he loaded the family and their belongings into the car on their way out of town yesterday afternoon:

David Beckham, who has made his way to Dubai to begin training with his temporary new soccer team AC Milan, showed off a bit of new ink on his arm during one of his team training sessions this week. Becks added a new Biblical saying written in Hebraic on his already heavily-inked armsleeve tattoo … behold:

David Beckham unveiled his controversial new tattoo on the football pitch in Dubai today. The biblical proverb is said to have caused angry scenes in the Beckham house, with Victoria reportedly furious that her husband ignored her pleas not to add to his body art. The latest design can be seen tucked on the inside of Beckham’s already heavily-inked left arm. The design – created by Beckham’s regular artist Louis Malloy – is a Hebrew translation of “My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart.” It accompanies another Hebrew phrase on the same arm which reads: “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine”. Victoria has the same tattoo but probably won’t be rushing out to copy the new proverb any time soon. A source said: “Victoria doesn’t think David should have any more tattoos and tried to stop him having another. She likes them but wants a bit of his skin to be left, but David went ahead with it anyway.” Tension in the Beckham household also peaked earlier this year when the couple decided not to fly home for the 60th birthday of David’s father Ted shortly after his near-fatal heart attack. But Victoria, 34, tried to end the feud by holding a family Christmas at their mansion in Hertfordshire – which is when Beckham fitted in his visit to the tattoo parlour. A friend said: “She wanted the children to see everyone before they go to Italy.” England midfielder Beckham, on loan to the Italian club AC Milan, was in Dubai to attend a training session at Al-Nasr’s club ground. The football giants arrived yesterday to start their winter training camp in the Gulf emirate. It will culminate in the Dubai Football Challenge match against German team Hamburg.

To be quite honest, I wouldn’t've even noticed this new tattoo if it wasn’t brought to my attention. With arm sleeves, it’s difficult to tell when a new tattoo has been added to the mix. It seems to me that Becks won’t be finished with his tattooing until he completely fills in both arms. Whether or not any new Bible sayings will be added to his body art remains to be seen but it seems that he gets the itch to add new ink almost on a yearly basis. As y’all may recall, he got his first armsleeve tattooed last year and then got the tattoo of Vicki B. on his arm sometime earlier this year. Yeah, I don’t think he’s anywhere near the end of his tattoo obsession … whether we like it or not.

The amazing actress Cate Blanchett is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine wherein in her coverstory interview she talks about how disinterested she is in resorting to cosmetic surgery under any circumstances. In the accompanying photospread, shot by Annie Leibovitz, Cate looks so absolutely stunning that I cannot believe that anyone would even think that she would need to resort to any cosmetic surgery of any kind. Cate Blanchett says her marriage of 11 years could be over if she goes under the knife. The actress — who currently stars in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt — tells Vanity Fair: “I haven’t done anything, but who knows. Andrew [Upton] said he’d divorce me if I did anything.” But that doesn’t mean she’d never mess with her famous face. “I’m not a spokesperson against the world of injectables,” The 39-year-old actress says. “If you grow up in an environment where your mother gets you a boob job when you turn 18, what hope is there? But I didn’t grow up in that world. The reason I went to train as an actor was that I was interested in it for the long haul,” she adds. “You can become very self-obsessed, but you’ve got to keep looking outward.” Blanchett says her body isn’t the same after the birth of their three sons: Dashiell, 7; Roman, 3 and Ignatius, 7 months. “When you’ve had children, your body changes; there’s history to it. I like the evolution of that history; I’m fortunate to be with somebody who likes the evolution of that history.” “I think it’s important to not eradicate it. I look at someone’s face and I see the work before I see the person….” she adds. Plus, Blanchett says plastic surgery doesn’t stave “off the inventible” aging process. “If you’re doing it out of fear, that fear’s still going to be seen through your eyes,” she says. “The windows to your soul, they say.” Upton, a playwright, doesn’t mind his wife’s looks, Blanchett says, although he doesn’t focus on them. “I’m not a trophy. He likes the vessel, but he also wants to make sure the vessel is full.” Blanchett says she wouldn’t rule out having more children either. “Who knows? Don’t close those doors. The world is very overpopulated, but we do make nice ones,” she says. “They all look like Andrew. To say he has dominant genes would be an understatement.” In addition to expanding her brood, Blanchett also has a retirement plan. “I think I just want to garden — or kill some plants, in my case,” she says.

Cate Blanchett is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood these days and, IMHO, prolly the best actress alive right now … I don’t think she needs to change a single thing about the way she lives her life. She seems very happily married, the kids keep on comin’ and she turns in amazing performance after amazing performance in film after film. She will surely live on as one of the great acting icons of our time, I’m utterly convinced. It is being reported that Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of Alaska governor and former Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, gave birth to her firstborn child this past Saturday in Palmer, Alaska. As you may recall, Bristol made headlines when it was revealed that she was pregs with a child that was conceived out of wedlock mere days after Sarah Palin was announced as the Republican Party’s nominee for VP. Had John McCain won the Presidential election last month, Bristol would’ve been the first unmarried Second Daughter-elect to give birth in the weeks ahead of the Presidential inauguration:

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gave birth on Saturday to a healthy 7 lb., 7 oz., baby boy in Palmer, Alaska. “We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.” The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston and he was born at 5:30 a.m., according to Jones. Baby Tripp takes his surname from his dad, Levi Johnston, an apprentice electrician and former Wasilla High School hockey player who has been dating Bristol for three years. Bristol Palin is currently residing in Wasilla and completing her high-school diploma through correspondence courses. Johnston is studying to become an electrician. He told the Associated Press in October that he and fiancée Bristol plan to wed in 2009 and raise the child together.

Man … what a fitting end to all the Palin nonsense that we were subjected to this year. I’m fairly certain that Bristol and Levi would’ve gotten hitched before the birth of this child had the Republicans won the election but now that they’re able to go back to being “regular” folk up in Alaska, they can carry on and forestall their shotgun wedding until they are good and ready to make the commitment. I have to be honest, I’m really glad that we dodged the Palin bullet in last month’s election … there was just too much drama wrapped up in Palin’s elevation in our national politics. I do hope that Bristol, Levi and Tripp are able to live long and happy lives together … far away from national politics. I think it’s prolly for the best for everyone concerned.

Yesterday we saw photos of Jude Law, ex-wife Sadie Frost, their children and the Jude’stache enjoying a lovely family vacay together in Brazil over the weekend where everyone was lookin’ happy and contented to be spending time with one another in family bliss. Today we get to see more photos of Jude, the Jude’stache and the kids (Iris and Rudy) taking a boat ride in Angra dos Reis and then enjoying a bit of snorkeling along the way. Yesterday I posted an update from the world of Michael Lohan and his new official blog and I mentioned that he would be chatting with folks LIVE via video chat on said blog last night. It turns out that his LIVE video chat sessions will run on a weekly basis, as last night’s session went off without a hitch. But, before Daddy Lohan got on the webcam to address his legion of fans/haters he posted a short message on his site that announced to the world that he and his estranged daughter, Lindsay Lohan, had called a truce … suggesting that all’s right with the pair:

There is a truce between Lindsay and I, so please stop adding any fuel to the fire. I respectfully ask that all sources, so called friends and mouthpieces refrain from any more comments or suggestions on her blog.

What? This makes no sense. Just for the mere fact that Michael Lohan has taken to blogging will lead to further back and forth between him and Lindsay and their blogs. As of yet, Lindsay has not addressed the existence of her father’s blog or the comments he’s made to the public since his site went online last weekend but I suspect that some sort of mention will come. Despite the fact that he claims that his blog is not about Lindsay Lohan or his family, he can’t seem to go more than 4 minutes without mentioning them in some fashion. At any rate, Michael Lohan did manage to successfully pull off his video chat last night, logging on at the appointed hour to answer questions from interested folks:
