Cisco Adler Busted!

Charged with 'simple assault' after allegedly punching a bar employee
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Musician/playboy Cisco Adler, who is famous for almost nothing of real substance … unless you count his band Whitestarr (which he is no longer a part of) and his crappy VH1 reality TV series about his band Whitestarr — oh yeah, and not to mention that horrid photo of his droopy balls, was arrested in Fargo, ND last night after a bar brawl broke out at a place called The Hub. Adler was busted on suspicion of simple assault after a bar employee claims that Adler punched him in the face. Here is Cisco’s lovely, and most recent, mugshot:

Police here arrested musician Cisco Adler, well-known for romantic relationships with models and actresses, early Thursday morning after witnesses said he punched an employee in the nose following a brawl after his performance at The Hub. Adler is the former frontman for the band Whitestarr. He left the band in 2008 … Adler is the son of music producer and director Lou Adler … Authorities were called to The Hub about 12:24 a.m. with a report of 15 people brawling and fighting security and management on the northeast corner of the building, according to police dispatch logs. Police arrived to find several people scuffling, Fargo police Lt. Pat Claus said. Witnesses told police Adler had gotten into a disagreement with another male at the club. As he was being escorted out of the club, he allegedly punched an employee in the nose, Claus said. Adler, 30, was arrested on suspicion of simple assault and booked into the Cass County Jail. There were no problems with the arrest, Claus said, adding the employee made a citizen’s arrest before police arrived. Adler was released from jail at 1:26 a.m. after posting $500 cash bail, according to jail officials. He was in town Wednesday performing at The Venue with hip-hop artist Schwayze. He is slated to perform tonight in St. Paul, according to his MySpace page.

You know, it’s never too late in the year for celebs to get busted on suspicion of various crimes and misdemeanors. I bet that Cisco Adler isn’t the last doofus to get arrested before 2008 is over. I still can’t believe that Mischa Barton was romantically linked to this guy for as long as they were but it did make sense when he dated Kimberly StEWart. It’s unclear if Adler will be able to make his St. Paul concert date tonight, which I’m sure will come as a great disappointment to the legions of Cisco Adler fans in the Minnesota area.

Barack Obama & Hillary Clinton Wish You A Merry waXmas

The new First Couple
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Washington DC has put together a new holiday themed exhibit which features President-elect Barack Obama and Secretary of State designate Hillary Clinton surrounded by wrapped Xmas gifts as they stand side-by-side in the Oval Office of the White House next to a festively adorned Xmas tree:

LOL. And, for your information, the gifts that are piled atop the President’s desk have gift tags made out to the Cabinet member nominees that have already been announced — Rahm Emmanuel (Chief of Staff), Tom Daschle (Secretary of Health and Human Services) and Robert Gates (Secretary of Defense). Hahahahaha … I really love this display … cuz as much as I adore Michelle Obama and I *know* that she will be an amazing First Lady, I honestly believe the real First Couple of the US is going to be made up of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. If she successfully becomes approved to be our next Secretary of State, Obama is going to essentially be married to her for the course of her tenure. Honestly … I’m not really sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing ;) But by looking at this wax exhibit … I do think they make a very handsome couple.

Emile Hirsch Joins The Porn’stache Crew

Hit or Miss?
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Emile Hirsch, who can currently be seen in theaters co-starring in the amazing film Milk, appears to have jumped aboard the latest Hollywood style trend that is sweeping celebrity “It” men. Here are a couple pics of Emile showing off his newly grown porn’stache as he ran the streets of LA last night:

As you may recall, big name celebs like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Jude Law are rockin’ the porn’stache these days and it looks like Emile wants to be one of the boys. Unfortch, tho, I don’t think the look really works on the lad. Honestly, I think the ’stache needs to grow in a bit fuller to look really hawt … mebbe once he finishes with puberty? When you’ve got a hot ’stache like Jude Law’s Jude’stache, well, it’s hard to compete. As much as I’m a fan of the porn’stache craze that’s going on these days … I think mebbe Emile needs to try a different look. What do y’all think? Does the facial hair work on him?

The Cast Of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Does ‘TV Guide’ & ‘Entertainment Weekly’

The Best of 2008
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

The entire cast of the hit CBS show How I Met Your Mother is featured on the cover of the new issue of TV Guide magazine …

… but even cooler than that, the cast is featured in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly in a fun new photoshoot where they recreate images that reflect the Best that 2008 had to offer. Here are pics of the cast doing the Olympics, the Jonas Brothers and Indiana Jones:

THE OLYMPICS — The men lost a lot of hair to play the U.S. 4×200m relay team; Harris (far right) even cajoled Segel (far left) into shaving his
armpits. ”The guys sounded like they didn’t think it was going to grow back,” laughs Smulders. ”Dude. Trust me. It grows back.
I wish it didn’t. It does. You’re gonna be fine.”

JONAS BROTHERS — ”I don’t often wear skinny jeans. It’s not my thing.
But I heroically squeezed into some,” says Radnor. Harris worked to internalize his character deeply, as well: ”I got to be the straight-ironed guy. Not the curly. I don’t know their names…Alvin? Theodore?”

INDIANA JONES — Smulders (left) didn’t see Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (she says the key to Cate Blanchett was ”just look like a badass”), while Harris studied Indy hard: ”It’s sort of a quarter-squint. The lips go down,
but there’s a hint of a smile. But he’s not amused, because he’s always got other things in mind.”

OMG! Is this not the most brilliant thing you’ve ever seen? Not only is it an amazing idea but the recreations are freakin’ hilarious!! After the jump, check out the HIMYM cast doing the Sex and the City Movie and the Vice Presidential debate …

‘The Spirit’ Of The Season

The TV Guide
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Last night Darion and I braved the crappy LA weather to make our way out to Grauman’s Chinese Theater for the Hollywood premiere of The Spirit. Since we are both big fans of Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) we were very excited to be invited to attend last night’s event:

Now … the movie … I have to say that folks coming out to see another Sin City are likely to be disappointed. The Spirit is based on a comic book that was created around the time that Superman and Batman were and deffo has that noir feeling. Because it is a hero that hasn’t had 50+ years to develop and evolve into a modern, “cool” incarnation there is a bit of corniness that comes across in the film. I understand that some of the characters have been changed from their original comic book versions (I suspect in an attempt to make them work better in a 2-hour film) but I don’t think they were quite developed properly. The villains came off as over-the-top ridiculous rather than dangerous or scary. The height of the over-the-topness came when all the Nazi/Hitler imagery showed up in The Octopus’s lair (main villain, played by Samuel L. Jackson). I’m sure those images must’ve been used in the comic books otherwise it makes no sense that they would be included in this film version … even still, they seemed really out of place and, IMHO, in very bad taste. I wasn’t too keen on some of the dialog either but, again, the film has that noir feeling where the convo isn’t as punchy as we are used to. The movie had that old fashioned feel that might turn off some people. That said, the visuals and cinematography were amazing — you can deffo tell it was a Frank Miller film. The performances by Eva Mendes (Sand Serif) and Gabriel Macht (The Spirit) were the shining beacons thruout this movie. Eva just looked the the epitome of female perfection (which is usually how women are portrayed in comic books) come to life. Gabriel was an excellent hero and is likely to secure a lot more work in Hollywood as a result of this film. Scarlett Johansson, on the other hand, looked great but didn’t really do it for me in this movie. I couldn’t tell if she was supposed to be sinister or evil or just a bored schoolgirl hanging with a supervillian. She was a bit of a disappointment for me. Because there are many things that don’t translate well from the comics to the movie, I wasn’t totally in love with The Spirit but I was absolutely entertained and I think that fans of Frank Miller may love it. I understand that there are a lot of negative reviews coming out for this film and I guess I can see their point. There is a great movie in The Spirit, I’m just not sure it was brought out enough so that people can necessarily feel it.

But, we did have a great time last night … the afterparty was really fun … most of the celebs hung around afterward to celebrate the film’s release:

And we did get to meet some of them:

Eva Mendes was such a sweetheart but Jaime King was a total doll … she was so sweet to us and confessed that she accidentally ripped her dress earlier in the night and that her friend Rosario Dawson had to fix it for her. Honestly, you’d've never known the dress was damaged … she rocked it right! I think Darion and I geeked out the most over meeting Louis Lombardi who plays a henchman in The Spirit but previously played Edgar Stiles on 24. I recall sadly when Edgar Peaced the Spork Out on the show back in 2006 … he was one of my fave characters. It was really fun getting to meet him.

We had a very cool night … I have to give a shoutout to Pink reader Natalie who I got to meet last night (she is pictured above) and I have to send out all my love to the Danielles for taking such great care of us last night. We had a blast.

Tonight, I’m having a holiday dinner with Mike and Jill before they jet off to Miami for the holidays and then afterward I’m meeting up with Alek and Darion for another Xmas party. Tonight looks bizzy but fun!

‘The Spirit’ Premieres In Hollywood

Red tie, red carpet
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, relative newcomer Gabriel Macht and others made their way out to the Grauman’s Chinese Theater for the Hollywood premiere of their new movie The Spirit amid the freezing cold rain that fell here last night. Directed by visionary filmmaker Frank Miller, The Spirit is based on the graphic novel of the same name created by Will Eisner. Here are a few photos of some of the celebs who made their way out, braved the cold and walked the red carpet last night:

Samuel L Jackson and Eva Mendez walked the red carpet for the premiere of their Latest film – The Spirit on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The film is directed by Frank Miller who has adapted the comics of his mentor into the film. “Will Eisner was my mentor and he created The Spirit around the same time Superman was created and he drew from older sources. He regarded the Superman and Batman looking like circus performances and so I would rather have a guy with a fedora and red tie,” says Director and Writer, Frank Miller. The Spirit tells the story of a man who [is killed and returns from the dead] and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. Meanwhile, Jackson who plays a villain named Octopuss in the film says he’s wanted to work with Miller since Sin City. “I have wanted to work with Frank (Miller) for a while I was chasing him for a long time trying to get one of those Sin City stories and I couldn’t. Then they end up doing the movie and I am not in it. So when Frank Miller wants to meet I thought I am going to get this Sin City story. Then he tells me ‘I am thinking of doing The Spirit and I want you in it and want you to be the bad guy.” Also starring Scarlet Johansson, The Spirit is slated to release on Christmas Day.

Darion and I were very fortunate to be invited to attend last night’s premiere of this film and I am happy to report that we had a pretty fantastic time. Despite the driving rain, Lions Gate Films really pulled off a spectacular red carpet event on Hollywood Blvd. last night that absolutely did not disappoint. Darion and I were sitting in the same row as Samuel L. Jackson and were only one row away from Scarlett Johannson and two rows away from Eva Mendes. We had a blast! I have a bunch of personal pics that Darion snapped at the afterparty which was held across the street from the theater at the Roosevelt Hotel and will have my full review in the TV Guide post. I must say, tho, that these photos do not do the celebs justice. Scarlett, Eva and Jamie King looked ravishing in person … literally, take-your-breath-away hot! Just being close to them in person was an incredible experience. Getting to meet some of them was just a thrill. More soon …
